Steve,
Great sales, thank you for posting, I regret not picking up a big hodgepodge trailer load of movie reels. Cheap but dirty and I was too lazy to deal!
Nothing like our dogs to get us away from computers and devices, always cool to see your pups!
Below are some more sales coming in from an 80’s toy/novelty shop storage partial buyout. The most interesting sale for me last week was a one page b&w paper flyer ad of some cheap knock off toys copying madballs, a popular 80’s toy line featuring vinyl balls with gross monster faces. It was a simple old school copy from a small distributor to a store, advertising their imported ripoff balls called ‘Yuk balls’. I listed the ad for $20, it sold in minutes, and immediately another buyer begged for me to email him and his friend a copy and was ready to pay $40. I declined. It is the buyer’s property now. Honor among the Knock Off toy community… When I listed the ad, I showed only parts of it, knowing it did have value and would more than likely be copied rather than purchased.
Three more cheap made for dollar stores action figures to one buyer. I gave him a deal, $375 for all. I believe the top price paid for one of these loose was $150, and that was mine about two weeks ago, more than paying for the entire buyout. Serious toys.
A return buyer from Hawaii bought a total of five assorted plastic water guns for a total of $145. Here is an example.
This 80’s shop partial buyout has been a lot of fun and making good money. I’ll share another rusty hook multi item purchase from Etsy on another post.

Leaves just beginning to turn, so we missed it. We hiked around the lodge, talked about Old Man but did not do it. Rather, we stayed put. Plenty of billiards, board games, beer & comfort eating, fire pits and such.10/22/2018 at 9:52 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 382: Treasure Hunting with a Fishnet #50518Spent a few days lodging in Hocking Hills, still in Ohio on extended handling time, tomorrow back to the pleasant grind in Still very warm SW Fl, so I have not even listened yet! Something to look forward to for sure!

Ah, yes, that would be an adjustment. I never ran an entire listing through phone only, just once to see if I could.
Good Morning Retro,
While i was pawing around on the blacktop, squatting on my knee replacements in the HOT Florida sun, I simply jammed anything interesting into moldy boxes, giving toys top preference. I may have missed them if they were simply tossed in a typical packed flea market toy bin. But yes, I knew they were unicorns, I just did not know exactly what they were.Congrats on those sales!
Yes, lets get the dickens off that delivery!
I picked up a bunch of those little wintry houses once, got cold feet, fast flipped them at a shop.
I tip my hat, sir.
I vote for tell the story.Simplicio,
My process as well, couple of new speed bumps, honestly it just causes me to pay more attention while listing, not really a slow downListening…

STR for the week: 0.3Below is a cool sale of a made for dollar stores 1980’s action figure knock off. An awesome surprise among the boxes of long defunct 1980’s toy & novelty shop partial buyout I did a couple of weeks back. This toy is so cheap, cheesy, and out of proportion that it is highly sought after. There is a community of action figure collectors that collect and pay well for these ripoffs. I call these ugly guys the ‘punk rockers’ of action figures. Took best offer of $150, which is really were these freaks top out at. I love this kind of stuff. Three more sold last night to one buyer, thankful.
Inglewood!
You are on deck ready to Swing!
Awesome, amazing newsJay, so true, I see so much of that here. We were able to come down retired in our early 40’s, with three young kids, yet quickly became semi retired once exposed to the life style here. Now I’m working full time, with real hours part time internet selling, and a small (for this area) pension. My wife also works full time and likes to work. We enjoy our home and area, yet we are mostly over it. We pay high HOA for nothing, since we are not socially active, our mindset different from most of the classic retired folks here. Its all dinners at the club, golf, tennis, beaches and BS! This is just my strong opinion speaking! If you are not built for all of that, it is not as good as it seems! The existence is canned where everything is designed to pamper and amuse and stroke you in your older years. My kids have enjoyed the amenities, yet they never felt true community with all of the wealth and how transient the area is. Simply it is too much all of the time, and most of the time it costs, even with all of the natural beauty. Weird, I feel my later years may be spent going back near to where many leave in their later years to come down here! Bottom line, it has been great to enjoy it in younger years, working keeps it real, and now we still have a good block of life left for something else. A weird reverse retirement in our future? I am 57. My wife is 60.
Wow! Congratulations! It would be helpful and exciting if you posted little dispatches along the way on this freedom journey. Maybe a new Forum topic is required, ‘Going Full time’? A weekly dispatch from you with all of us commenting? After all, this is either the end game or a fantasy for most of us on here, at least the possibility of doing so is considered. It could be helpful for you as well to be in touch this way?
I have come to realize I would have to move to downsize and move to a cheaper area. For me, I feel like I would need to put away 1/2 a year of true and real living expenses, and also get completely out of consumer debt. Also, my grown kids would be pushed to be completely or almost completely independent. It is all very possible. Its so tough for me because I really am not unhappy at my job, but no job is bliss, and I want to squeeze in another life while I am still in my most productive years. Am I really happy or just feeling really safe? Honesty is tough! Hmmmmm…
But back to you! Enjoy it all, and thank you for an announcement that causes one to inspect their own life!Very Cool! I just wouldn’t know where to find anything.
10/08/2018 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 380: What Do Lifetime Sales Really Mean? #49777Combined sales of $280 for me between Etsy & eBay! To be fair, I did turn down $250 of good offers. The offers were on rare toys. Holidays are closing in so I’m holding! Nature of the beast when you sell HTF toys and Oct happens, grab the nickel or wait for the dime? Still, right now bottom line yuck!
Good news is I purchased a CAR LOAD of priced way right 1980’s time capsule stuff, much of it new old store stock funky novelties and plenty of my favorites, old toys. Some serious toy rarities, God willing, I will be sharing the solds on the forum. I had to leave a lot behind, NO room left in car and heat exhaustion was seriously setting in! 95 degrees and on the black top no shade Florida market.
Great podcast, as usual! Thank you.9/30 – 10/6/18

One of, if not my favorite buyselljunk show.
Have not seen in YEARS.
I’ll have to dig around and see where it is.
I used to catch it on regular cable.Simon,
I have been putting off making a viewer with cardboard box, sheet of glass, piece of paper, this YouTuber shows how to make a photo box for nothing about 28 minutes into the video. He also provides other good info on selling slides on eBay. -
