Thank you, got it on the Bibles and will check that out.
And absolutely, bundle bundle bundle. I have a BUNCH of flower growing books in a box already.
Thanks again!
Copy that, on the Guinness.
I have not gone through all the books yet but getting close. I cannot recall if there was 1800’s because I was not looking out for it but I believe mostly 1940-1970’s. There might be one or two 1800’s and I will be more alert to them now that you mentioned it.
I already took several boxes to the thrift store last night. I had to make room! Most were late 20th century books that are very plentiful on Amazon. My husband was inspired to let go some of his books so they were included in that batch.
Currently I have piles sorted by subject, I have a small pile of “to list” on my desk and I am going to go through the other boxes now to see if there was anything else worth keeping.
Some of the piles are:(most without an ISBN)
Religious and Bibles (not sure how to date the Bibles)
Old college chemistry
Old Nautical/Navy
Old Music/song
Child/Mom/Wife
Poems
Fiction books in several piles not sure what to do with them yet. There are two directories: not sure of their value. I did some research but have not come up with anything yet. Do you happen to have an opinion on those?
1977 Caltech Directory of Institute Personnel
Rensselaer Directory of AlumniAnd there is a Alpha Gamma Delta Quarterly Golden Anniversary Issue 1904-1954. I did some research but come up with nothing on it yet.
Thank you again for all your amazing coaching. I really do owe you for this and I hope to somehow repay you for all your kindness.
Punk: Yes, it may be hard to break Pyrex but I seem to be good at it. I think you are right, it was packed too tightly. I really thought (after the first disaster) that I needed to make sure it was secure so I packed it up very tightly in a styrofoam sandwich (separating the lid from the base) but I think that with no “give” it had no where to go when there was shock so it broke. I did have it labeled fragile and I did have insurance so I got the money back but still, no fun.
Joe: Yes, that is a good method and I use it often. I shipped a large mirror, plates, glasses, you name it, in exactly that way. That’s why the Pyrex situation baffled me. But I have another Pyrex and one of those Teracotta baking things still in my listings so I have a couple of more chances to get it right.
Thanks for making me laugh because I was not laughing today…. your thoughts on this one? Guinness book of world records 1968? It looks promising based on first round or research.
I have had two pyrex break in shipping. I shipped a large mirror, no problem — pyrex, not happening! I did do a sandwich the second time still broke, possibly need more layers. If any of you have shipped pyrex, I would love to know how you did with it.
Thank goodness this gets easier because this is NOT easy! I am in a fort of books, can’t get out!
I have started listing the books, finally! I have a books category in my store… first book is up! So far nothing in the hundreds of dollars, mostly bread and butter stuff but unique. Some books are already in the “to be donated” box.

That’s very funny. I have a stirrup that I had no idea what it was because I had only one and it was a very unusual shape. I did eventually figure it out, like you did!
Thank you Simplicio, your input is much appreciated. I think you are correct on both counts. I did a little research last night on both items and so far it agrees with your assessment.
Good morning KatieScott, I have sold coins on Ebay and had no problem with that. But they are not super valuable (50.00-70.00 range). It helps to understand what you are selling because I certainly do not know, except that they happened to be marked as to their quality. The critical point it seems to me with a coin, is its condition. Here is link to my most expensive coin https://www.ebay.com/itm/162659833387 so that you can see what it looks like.
The coin I was talking about in this thread, the one pictured above, is now with the auction house that was recommended. They were really great in handling this and the coin will be auctioned in April. I was not comfortable selling it on Ebay because it is worth several thousand.
Hope this helps.
Sounds like you made some new friends Joe, will you go back in two weeks?
Copy that Steven, thank you! I will be on the look out for them.
I got a couple of electronic items that my neighbor had in his garage… Would you be willing to give your opinion about these two items? I have not researched them yet but if you want to put in your two cents, it’s always appreciated.
Steven I think of you every time I see free electronics on CL, there is so much of it here (Los Angeles). I just never know if it is worth picking up.
Hey Joe I saw the CL ad for Long Beach and figured you would be all over it! I am assuming that was the one you got. And good job on the neighbor’s house! (c:
Good job! Love it when that happens.
