Also now following on Instagram. Love seeing what other people are finding! Time to go listen to episode 160!
Thanks for the tip! I guess the only change is that the good until cancelled items no longer have the remaining time for the 30 day period listed.
I know the feelings your friend has when torn between two opposite candidates. I am, and have always been, a registered independent so I don’t even get to worry about the primaries. I look for the candidate I agree with most, not the one who is this party or that or the other. Just like in my scavenging. If I stick to just one location, I’m going to limit myself to the limited supply they have. I like options.
I appreciate the discussion, as brief as it was, because I think any shift in government will have an effect on business for good or bad, which will only be seen as we go forward. I agree that this is a time of great unknown and that is worrisome. I see open discussion as a way for personal growth and understanding of other points of view. Similar to money, which is another taboo topic in some circles, we can only benefit ourselves by listening to others even if we don’t have a shift in our own beliefs. I still enjoy the diversity in this community and hearing everyone’s opinions from simple matters like sourcing items for sale and dealing with customer issues to what we see the future of our government being. My philosophy is “whatever floats your goat!”

New items listed this week: 3Slow week, but that has been the normal for me right now. I am trying to get a few high dollar items into the store and my three listings fit the bill. I’m starting to get refocused on listing after a few recent auctions and bringing in new items despite the death piles. Hopefully I’ll have some extra time over the long holiday weekend and I think I’ll be listing from the road since we have a 3 hour drive to and from Thanksgiving dinner. Being the passenger in the car gives me the time to do nothing but list since my time at home is still being consumed by the house project. Washing log walls is not nearly as fun as scavenging or even listing, but this is our way of scavenging for our dream home, using the skills we have to do the labor ourselves. I’m the painter in the family so my tasking is ramping up.
The painting at the auction I went to sold for $500, which was well above my $50 budget 🙂

Testing.
Here is my eye candy:
Got these art deco Dog head andirons at an auction today just because I thought they were awesome. Got them home and cleaned up and found the marking for Bradley & Hubbard Mfg. Co. which sold the business in 1940 and the new company stopped making andirons.
I have the Accuteck ShipPro model and never had issues even with the first class packages. In fact, I’ve had my scale read 15.9 oz and the post office measured the same (I remember because the guy commented on how close it was!) I have a few food scales that only go up to 13 lbs, but all my scales register the same. Do you have a second scale to check against?
Wow, now I need to see if it is an actual rubbing or a print cause that is it. Funny how Amazon has it, but I couldn’t find anything like it with google images.
Got this box at an online auction on Monday, picked it up last night. In it is at least 11 vintage English Brass rubbings, but there are likely more than that. The box is marked with the year 1963. Paid $55 for the lot, but I know one is a full size man and woman so I’m pretty sure I’ll cover my costs.

Reminds me of a plumb bob, just with the two hooks on the top.
Thanks for the info! I got a bag full of Clarks at an auction that were all in good condition (or so I thought) and I did the bend test, but nothing seemed out of whack. I’ll end up providing a refund even if I don’t get pictures since this is a common issue.
Mostly estate auctions since that is what I have in the area, but occasionally there will be a consignment auction or a collection auction that is limited to one item type. Estate auctions are nice for the variety, but sometimes it takes forever to get to the stuff I’m interested in. One local company does everything online which saves me some time since I’m not sitting onsite all day, but they will ship items so the audience of bidders is bigger. A plus for the online stuff is that I can usually do some good eBay research before bidding so I don’t spend $5 on something I think is cool just to find out they only sell for $10.
Thanks Jay. After thinking on it last night I came to the same thought that I’d ask for photos and then provide the refund.
