@Jay – I took a look at this Instagram account. Quite awesome! Is she doing this to help out your local town? I mean, she hasn’t started working as a real estate agent or anything? I wouldn’t think so, but you two have such energy, I wouldn’t be totally surprised.
Do you know whether the businesses she is highlighting closed because of the pandemic, or were they already listed or in trouble beforehand?
I normally use the bulk shipping page, so I print out the pick list and cut out the slips. However, if I have only one item or have items shipping with FedEx, then I print out the packing slip. So, like Old Dad, I am not particular on the contents and just use the bare minimum it provides.
I signed up for eBay’s “sellerbration” on September 25. I’m supposed to get some eBay swag. Not sure about a coupon. I’m also signed up for eBay UpFront, which is now virtual, in October. I am supposed to get a coupon for that, although, they already sent a $10 one when they had to reschedule from the spring.
I actually started with a few sales and a few purchases on eBay in the late 1990s or early 2000’s. Then, I forgot my password, and they didn’t have easy ways to reset it back then. So, I started a new account, and I currently have 2003 as my start date. Still a good amount of time, but haven’t received a $25 coupon as of yet.
VT – Don’t forget to report this person if you haven’t done so. You might want to call eBay if it continues and consider what workhorse posted.
I’m not the listing behemoth that some of you are, but, between my silver plate, stainless, jewelry (sterling & silver colored), and metal tools, I should be a force to be reckoned with!!! Of course, this assumes I find the time to list all this stuff.
Up to Amatino to approve, but you are all forewarned …
Thanks for the explanation. THANKFULLY, I have not had this issue, so I assumed that the setting would prevent block buyers from contacting me. I hope that Amatino’s trick works for you.
What a gorgeous kitty! We have a calico too!
I listed 17 this week. Pretty good for me, but it was because I didn’t have lots of sales.
My total for the textiles is 9. I don’t have any more, so that is my final number.
For the September challenge, I had mentioned the categories where I have the most number of items. If anyone wants to create a challenge around any of them, I’m game! I just don’t want to make the challenge myself since it is kind of self serving – these are the areas where I might do really well. So, I’ll let someone else chose.
Silver plate ( 2 sets of flatware!, trays, coffee pot, and so on) plus some stainless
Jewelry (some sterling, some costume)
Breakable (blue glass, ceramic, china)
I’ve already started preparing the breakables because they take up the most space, but I have more of the silver plate and jewelry.
08/31/2020 at 12:15 pm in reply to: REVISIT: Scavenger Life Episode 425: Worried? Get to work! #81148I’m bummed when you aren’t able to post a new podcast, but you two deserve a break. Steve deserves a break. I look forward to hearing from you next week (and hopefully Steve this week?).
Sales were sluggish. The big stars were two RAZR flip phones given to me by one of my parents’ friends. Both sold within a week of being listed. I guess he really liked the phone, so he bought a number of them in case his broke. Kind of strange since he gave me five of them! He was an executive at the time, so I guess he didn’t think much about spending extra money.

Go to “view order details”. Under shipping details, the address is the warehouse in Kentucky. You have to click “See buyer address”.
Under Seller Hub, click on “Payments”. On the right hand side, just a quarter of a page down, is “Settings”. You need to edit “Automatic payment method”.

Backup payment methodI had one local pickup where they buyer had a code, and another where they didn’t. The one that did was a local pickup from the start, while the other one I added the local pickup option at the request of the buyer. I have been assuming that was the reason for one having it and not the other, but I don’t know for sure.
I’m pretty sure that providing your address prior to the sale is against eBay policy. They don’t want the buyer coming to your house and paying cash, which would cut them out of their commission.
I believe the correct way is to have the buyer pay for the item, and then arrange for pickup. If they decide that they don’t want it, then you refund them their money.
08/26/2020 at 9:10 pm in reply to: USPS requiring inspection of broken items before paying claim #81030I had this issue earlier this year, actually before the pandemic. My buyer had already thrown out the box and packaging, but went to the post office to show them the broken item. The claim was denied because they didn’t have have the packaging.
So, yeh, this started before the USPS financial situation went more south than it already was.
