these are the official rules–
All postal employees, including carriers, must comply with the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the ExecÂutive Branch. Under these federal regulations, carriers are permitted to accept a gift worth $20 or less from a customer per occasion, such as Christmas. However, cash and cash equivalents, such as checks or gift cards that can be exchanged for cash, must never be accepted in any amount. Furthermore, no employee may accept more than $50 worth of gifts from any one customer in any one calendar year period.

that looks great. total scavenger style. use what works!
yeah we always say we work online at home. which is true.
i’ll throw a wrench into this that confuses me. we have a personal car, but we use it for business SOMETIMES and we deduct those business miles from our taxes. so maybe it’s that this car is used only sometimes for business that it can be considered personal. i would love for a scavenger accountant to clear this up. but how does that make sense for an Uber driver? they use their own car personally, but when they work, they use it too.
i feel like uber is so much different than thrifting though. you are like a taxi, driving people around. we are just driving to a store to ‘work’. do people who commute to an office say that’s a business vehicle because they’re driving to work? no. but that’s just how i’ve thought of it up until now. i don’t know what my accountant would say about it…
yeah most of mine are framed, so i never see the back. though the ones are not framed, i’ve never seen a company name on them.
ha, love this bio. thanks for sharing. i sent a photo of a can of pumpkin and a jar of spices to a friend on Thanksgiving (as i was about to make a pie). and she was like ‘what kind of homesteader farmer are you??’. i was like ‘i’m not a farmer, i’m a thrifty scavenger!’. you can only do the best you can and that’s good too.

i have never looked up the company name of the PBNs. i just think they look cool and list with the best keywords that i can.
i have hundreds of slides sitting in a box next to my desk. so i’m right there with ya!
11/30/2016 at 10:38 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 286: Black Friday, Just Another Day on eBay #6891i think we need to remember (myself included here) that not all people want to be business owners. and most of us think that’s super weird. but some people just want a paycheck. i’ve been there sometimes too. i just want to get paid and then go do my own thing (that didn’t last long though). running a business is tough, stressful and full of responsibility. but as we all know, the rewards are countless. i’m not afraid my helper will outpace me in business. she sees us planning/prepping for that storage building in our backyard. you want to be successful in this business? you have to have major storage. not many people want to deal with that very, important aspect of it. seems simple, but i feel thats a huge part of it.
i think you can sell Nazi related stuff (yes there are collectors of all things, not that these people are Nazis) but not to certain places in Europe, France being one of them.
