I love Chattanooga and Knoxville. My company has a location in Chattanooga and I looked to transfer there at one point but my wife didn’t want to move.
It’s been this way since they did away with the auto unpaid item system. It was supposed to be a temporary fix that has turned into a longterm “non fix”.
No message to remind you either. You just have to be diligent and remember to relist it.Cancellations are the same way. If a buyer pays and asks to cancel, when you cancel the summary screen will say it is “ineligble for auto relist”. It works if they haven’t paid though.
Because I just love creating spreadsheets for ebay stuff, I created this chart to analyze the age of my inventory and how much is still listed vs how many listings I made during that year.
I started my detailed spreadsheet in the 2nd half of 2018 when I really started getting serious about growing, so I don’t have all the data before then.
So as you can see, I’ve already sold about 30% of what I’ve listed this year. I still have about 40% of what I listed last year, then 20% each are left from 2020 and 2019.
Out of my approx 1800 listing store , I only have 133 listings left from prior to 2019. Not bad!

What’s the story behind this lot?
Have you considered other paths to shorten up your time, such as mixed random lots? If you know you’re only going to get $5 a patch, just throw a bunch on the table for a generic pic, and then create the listing as a random lot of 10 and sell for $40-50. Then you just need one listing.
I pay $1200 in property tax on my home. I paid $176k in 2012 and it is worth between $250-280k now.
as name says, I’m in WV.
WV has some of the lowest property tax in US.
I have two new coworkers that transferred here from Portland. Even at our rapidly rising property costs, they were both able to pay cash for basically what passes for mansions here.
That’s why our costs are rising so high. People are listing 50-100K above market value and someone from a large metropolitan area comes in and says “I can’t believe this is so cheap! I’ll pay cash for this 3500 SQ FT home with a fraction of what I sold my big city 1200SQ FT dump for!”
even if they get a loan, the annual loan payment AND property taxes is less than just the property tax in the big city.
There is a home 2 doors down that was listed for $410k. I’ve personally watched our flooded creek flow through the bottom floor of this home like a raging river twice. Yes, that house is well into the flood plane. It did sell recently, but I think the price went down to just below $350. Still $100-125k more than what it really should be worth. about 2 years ago another home on my street sold for $290k and is just 1800sq ft. I know this because it was one of the comps when I refinances. Did it drastically raise my property value? Yes. Do I really consider that a good thing? No.
So now that I’ve made a long winded response, I’ll answer your question: Yes, you can move pretty much anywhere along the appalachians and drastically cut your cost of living, get a reasonably affordable home, and get plenty of good scavenging.
Oh yeah, the eBay app is still broken and the website in safari browser on iPhone was broken this weekend. I REALLY didn’t feel like changing my uploading process again due to eBay technical issues. Fortunately it works again this morning.

Sourcing Allotment 11I ended up taking the weekend off so I didn’t come close to my listing goals. Had a bunch of family things to do and then was so worn out from that I just didn’t want to do work. I’m still way over my goal of 40 average for the year, so its fine to take a weekend off.
I sold 10 things on Saturday which is WAY off the norm. Weekends have been dead for so long that the constant offers and sales really felt good. Sunday brought things back to earth with only 3 small sales.
Now since I didn’t ship at all this weekend I have to ship 22 things today. Gotta earn that paycheck eventually!
Ugh, that can be a slog fest. Hopefully you find a home run to make it worthwhile.
sometimes when I get a big lot like this I dial my keywords back a bit and search in terapeak by highest price to see if there are any repeat home runs. That will kind of train my eye when looking through the big lot to know what to look for in the rare stuff.
Yes I use both style regional A boxes alot for items that are 3-5 lbs. I forgot to mention those.
I have a bunch of regional B boxes, but they aren’t a great deal after fed ex and UPS brought their prices way down. I never use them.
I use USPS for 1st class, priority mail padded flat rate, priority mail tyvek envelope or non-dimensional box that is 3lbs or less. That’s it.
Everything else I put in the calculator as Fed-Ex ground with actual dimensions and weight and pass on my discount. When it comes time to ship I actually rarely ship Fed-Ex. I ship whichever of the 3 (USPS, Fed Ex, UPS) is cheaper based on the buyer location since the item will arrive the same time anyways.
If a buyer comments on the shipper change I just explain to them the situation that I am using Fed Ex in the calculator to get them the best price and I pick between the 3 based on the distance and best estimated delivery date – basically sell it as an upgrade.
Even with my shipping discount passed on I usually save a couple bucks on every shipment since USPS beats Fed Ex for local items and UPS regularly beats Fed Ex by at least $1, usually more.
Yeah I’d say doing dishes in a restaurant you own and enjoy is alot different than just being a dishwasher.
I’d enjoy cleaning used shoes ALOT less if I didn’t get to realize 100% of the benefit of my work. I mean really, who wouldn’t question their life’s journey if they were making $10-15 an hour picking gum and rocks out of used shoes? 😀
