If auctions were good in my area I convert to them in a heartbeat. They aren’t though, so thrift stores it is!
J&R have also largely quit buying clothes/shoes and stick to hard goods. Currently Goodwill and other thrifts are TERRIBLE places to shop for hard goods. They cherry pick all the good stuff for their own auction website and everything else on their shelves is horribly over priced. The change happened almost overnight in my area. That is why I switched from hard goods to clothes/shoes!
ALl my electronics, toys, and hard goods mainly come from yard sales now.
Well the only good thing from this era is that it is pretty easy to cull the crap cards from the good cards.
One tip: In Topps cards, you will mostly find crap quality card stock that is matte finish and they just look…crappy. If you see Topps cards from mid 80’s thru early 90’s that are gloss finish and much brighter in general, these are “mostly” referred to as Topps Tiffany cards.
If you can get good at identifying the tiffany cards in there, you stand to make some money.

I can 100% guarantee you that the CSR did NOT “make a note”. They never do.
What I have done with unpaid items when I go on vacation is pack them up for shipment and take it with me. Then if they pay I print a label in the business center of the hotel we are at and ship it.

New Listings 31Staying consistent with listing, not scavenging, and just trying to weather what I hope is a 2 month blip in sales due to the tax situation for blue state buyers. Tax wise for me, I have 4 children so I made out like a bandit with my biggest refund ever even after adjusting my withholding at my day job. For my business, I officially made $1200 this year. Last year I made $0 after deductions.
Had a crappy setback financially yesterday. Our dog ate a leash recently (yes, a leash…among other things). When I went to take her out yesterday morning, she was limp with tongue hanging out, and cold with the occasional involuntary twitch. She had lost bladder control as well. This was as dead as a dog can possibly be and still have a heartbeat. She was as cold as the concrete floor in the garage – no exaggeration.
I brought my kids down to say their goodbyes, and my daughter asked me to try to take her to the vet. It was a 20 minute drive and I figured she would be fully gone by the time we got there, but she was still inexplicably alive. The vet could not read any of her vitals except heart rate because they were all below the range of instrumentation, including temperature. After a few hours they had her temp up to 82 (100.5 is normal) and she was lifting her head and looking around. Her bloodwork basically said she had no red blood cells, no white cells – all the markers were bottomed out at the base of range…basically her blood was water because she was bleeding out in her intestines. They brought her out for us to see her before we left and I felt like I was seeing a ghost after what I saw at 6 that morning. She stood and even wagged her tail when we petted her.
By evening she was stable enough for surgery. The vet removed a ziplock baggy full of nylon from her stomach and intestines. She rebounded so well that I actually brought her home this morning.
I am still in shock that our little dog survived. The emergency vet has never seen any case like it, from how she came in to how quickly she recovered.
And that is the tale of how our $40 pound puppy became a $2500 puppy, and how my fresh tax return disappeared as quick as I got it.
I was able to send out a bunch of offers through the link Jay posted. I’ve done this a few times with no success.
Today I discounted fairly steeply – 30-40%. They were all items that are pretty old based on the photo backgrounds.
Ok so I finished downloading the update. Guess what – NO offers to watchers anywhere….
There is one major improvement though – ALL of my items now appear in active listings.
I never did get the promised “make offer to buyers” option on my ebay seller page.
I haven’t updated my app in a while. I am downloading the update now. It says in the update description this:“Lots of updates this time, including being able to send offers to anyone who asks a question or is watching their listing.”
So yep, this is on the mobile app now.
I don’t offer free shipping. When a buyer returns an item through a standard return, I have to “opt in” to refund their original shipping. There is a check box for original shipping that is by default unchecked.
I’ve argued with ebay over this. They swear it is not possible yet there it is plain as day every time I process a return.
Not a single customer has ever complained. They usually leave me positive feedback as well. With that kind of metric, why would I ever opt in?
I had a buyer do this once. I shot them a message asking why the feedback was negative when their actual comments was positive. They said it was a mistake and I was able to send them a revision request and get it fixed.
IF they are both paid off you could keep both and just park one/remove the insurance until you need it. It takes minutes to put insurance back on the parked car. Just make sure to take it for a drive around the block every once in a while. Cars don’t like sitting long term.
With a standard return, you do not have to refund original shipping costs. Pretty clever!
I don’t do anything special. For heavy breakable electronics, I wrap them in 4″ foam that I get from work. It doesn’t get safer than that in transit.
You should do a search in your area for barcades or arcades in general. They are popping up all over the place!
This Tron is now available for play at the new StarCade Arcade in Roanoke Virginia. I’m happy that tons of people will get the experience of playing it now.
There are no rules. Share whatever you want to share however you want to share it.
Most of us just report gross sales though, no shipping costs.
Yep I have stopped scavenging this month. I need every penny that comes into my paypal account to pay the bills I have designated ebay to pay this month!
Slow sales sucks!
