Net sales total: $1,232.66Well, I netted $300 more than last week so I’ll take it! My antique booth did terribly this week so I think maybe people are just getting out in their yards and doing springtime activities instead of shopping on eBay. Who knows
Yeah, I don’t know, I think we’re due for a recession so it will be interesting to see what happens this year. Might not affect eBay though
Yeah, my wife takes care of our daughter so it’s just me bringing in money. Other than the couple hundred bucks I make at an antique booth every month, the numbers I post here are my entire income and that’s before taking out all of the other expenses besides fees and shipping. We can get by on about 30k a year but I’d like to do better than get by and it’s just a bummer to see my store get 350 items added to it each week and the number of items sold goes down from a couple of months ago. It’s still crazy to think I’m making a living selling what I sell though lol

Hopefully things will turn around. I will keep listing and building the store and we’ll see what happens when my store is double the size it is now 🙂
Lol, yeah the person who got it and the person who offered $450 both said they had been looking for the hat for years… SMH

So last week I had an expensive hat story and this week I’ve got another. I had basically the complete opposite thing happen from last week. I listed a vintage ralph lauren hat for $225 based on what I saw similar hats going for (couldn’t find the exact one) and someone offered $150 within a few hours. I decided to let it go for that since I only gave about $2 and I was happy with that sale. A couple of days later, someone messaged me about the hat (I guess they searched the solds) and offered me $450 if I hadn’t sold it already. That was a painful message to get lol.
Oh well, I still sold it for good money, I guess I should list hats I think are expensive as auction just in case this scenario comes up again.
My hat sales blew up over the weekend, I guess people are getting ready for spring.
I had 2 or 3 people begging me to take $150 the entire auction and one person said that he’s seen it happen lots of times where the bidders will just bid the auction way up and then ask you to sell it for way cheaper. The bidder who went up to $500 had 0 feedback and immediately after the auction ended I got a message from someone else asking me to take $200 so I think it was the same person who won. I’m thinking even the person warning me about the fake bids was probably also bidding higher than they intended to pay. So, I was kinda over it by the end of the auction. I relisted it for $500 best offer and kept getting offers for $200 so I decided to just accept one of them. Then that buyer didn’t pay. I guess I should’ve tried listing it for $500 without best offer but oh well, I gave $2 for the hat
eBay has shifted its focus from getting any and all buyers to getting high-quality buyers (ones that come back and continue to purchase from the site) so it’s not surprising that the total number of buyers has gone down but it can be a good thing for sellers because it may mean more repeat buyers. Especially for people like me who focus on a niche.
Yeah, I list things at auction if I think there is potential value but not sure what it might be. I started the auction at $19.99 thinking maybe it’d go up to $50 or something. So I was surprised to see what it went up to. I relisted it last night for $300 with no offer and immediate pay and it sold by this morning. So at least there’s that

Net sales total: $902.35My worst week of the year so far. Maybe fewer people were browsing eBay with everything that’s going on in Ukraine. It would have been a much better week if the buyer paid for the $500 hat that they won at auction but I don’t think they ever intended on paying… I sold it again Saturday for $200 and this buyer has not paid yet either. Sometimes selling high-dollar items is a worse experience than $20-$30 items.

Yeah, I’ve sold a couple thousand patches in the past 12 months. I think I’ve only had 1 or 2 people get a patch and not be happy with it and want a refund. The rest have been item not received.
I just checked this page and for the past 12 months I have 36 total
Are you spreading your listing out over the week or just listing the 40 in a couple of days? If the latter, I’d try saving the listings as drafts and listing 5 a day 7 days a week for a month and see what happens. There seems to be some magic in having listings get the first 24 hours boost 7 days a week.
