almasty, this is a great point and I have used this method as well. At least you can get a range of what it sold for, which helps a bit.
And of course if you have an eBay store subscription, you can use https://sell.terapeak.com/ to get actual prices from the last year. So happy they started this, it has really helped pricing some obscure and high priced items recently.
07/16/2019 at 1:21 am in reply to: Ebay: Please make sold listings show the ACTUAL sale price. #64988Replying to self. I found an ebay item 113763315963 from June 7, 2019. If you search for that item on eBay it says price sold $150 (it said best offer accepted on the search results when I found it). Then I go to the page I linked and I get a price of $115. Why is this one shown and others not? Very confused.
07/16/2019 at 1:15 am in reply to: Ebay: Please make sold listings show the ACTUAL sale price. #64987I just checked this with one of my recent sales and you are correct. I also checked one in April and it didn’t work.
How long has this been going on? I used it for a few sales a few weeks back and it seemed to work.
07/15/2019 at 11:43 pm in reply to: Ebay: Please make sold listings show the ACTUAL sale price. #64984Hi again Steve. I agree this is annoying. Someone on this list awhile back pointed be to this site, where if you enter in the ebay listing number or url you can get the actual price.

I use this all the time for pricing help!
07/15/2019 at 11:37 pm in reply to: Ebay: Give Us A Way To Delete Multiple Messages Through The App. #64983Hi Steve, so I have the Android version so I don’t know if you do or if things are different on the apple version, but I can delete a bunch of messages at once.
1) I click on messages.
2) I click the blue Edit link
3) It then puts boxes to the left of the messages.
4) I select as many as I want to delete (I just tried this with 37 messages).
5) I click the garbage can icon at the top
6) I say yes I want to delete the messages, and they are gone!Let me know if you see what I see and if it works!
Just sent 8 that way, but had to use a weird % so I would know that I sent an offer (I was sending offers in manually for .00 or .50 amount and my listings are usually .99).
So now when I get a sale of $28.47 or $38.64 I’ll know it was from sending an offer out!
07/08/2019 at 12:09 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 418: Brick & Mortar Store Is Not For Us #64643June Monthly numbers:
Items sold : 36 (below average)
Amt sold : $1072 (also down a bit)
Avg price sold $29.78 (that is up a few dollars due to a couple big sales.)
Customer issues: none so far on the 36 sales above, but I did have the person try to scam me by returning a different broken item (detailed in another thread). That case was closed but only after I gave a partial refund and eBay did not send me a credit as promised. Fortunately when I started free returns I added a .50 per item surcharge which is now my self-insurance. So far in the year I’ve done this I’ve not paid out much less than I’ve taken in which is good.
Big sale was a working Atari 800XL Computer that I got at an auction. Paid up for it at $34 but I knew even if it didn’t work I could part it out for $70-80. It worked nicely and sold it for $150.
Other big sale was from someone accepting an offer I sent. It was a case of 24 sealed Avatar (anime, not movie) trading cards. I had them up for a $100 for a while and sent an offer of $89 out that was accepted. Found these for $3.99 at a Goodwill, so that was a sweet sale.
I’m going to keep better track of how many offers I send and get accepted. I’m entering them into a spreadsheet each day. For example, so far in July I’ve sent 27 offers and got one taker (only a $12 sale on a poster that was up for $15).
I’m also listing like mad now that my time is more free in the summer (I’m a full time college instructor). My goal is 30 listings over what ever I buy. Meaning if I buy 10 new things in a week, I have to list 40 that week! It is helping me cut down my death pile and curbing purchases, unless they are very nice items. So far since 6/17 I’ve listed 136 items bring my store up to 765 listings. I hope to get close to the 900-1000 range by the end of the summer!
I did source from some garage sales, the aforementioned auction, and a couple thrift stores. I’m heading to Seattle for a quick trip to see friends this week and I may stop at multiple thrift stores on the drive and back. I love sourcing in new territory!
07/08/2019 at 11:41 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 418: Brick & Mortar Store Is Not For Us #64640I have a reddit account but know zero about setting up a subreddit. But doing a quick search on the site got me this reply.
How do I make my subreddit private and invite only? How does it work? from modhelp
It is 6 years old but appears accurate. If you go to the bottom link of that thread it shows you what the landing page of a private subreddit would look like.
My two cents, having it private would make me feel much more comfortable participating also if you moved to reddit.

It might depend on what you sell most also. For me, I sell vintage hard goods mostly with new in package stuff and clothes thrown in to the mix. The 7 sold items were all vintage and collectibles, no clothes.
06/19/2019 at 1:15 pm in reply to: Why when I send an offer if the item is promoted do they take a fee? #63744Thanks for the exact number of days. I’m actually ok with a 30 day rule and I agree they should be compensated for that. I’m just glad it is not longer or permanent.
I guess I need to think about maybe slightly reducing the discount on offers that I send to promoted listings as opposed to regular listings. If I wanted to send a 50% discount it might really be more like 55%.
06/18/2019 at 7:35 pm in reply to: Anyone Else had trouble getting the Quarterly Credit for Using Promoted Listings #63709This is how it is supposed to work:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/promotional-ad-fee-credits/qaq-p/28389860
See 2nd response. So yes the credit should should up on the following month’s invoice. Mine appears to each month.
This 1000 times. I had two horrible weeks recently: one during may graduations and one last week, june grad time. These weeks lower my May and June a bunch.
I’ve always been GTC so the new ebay changes can’t impact me as I’ve always done it that way. So these theories of GTC messing up the 30-day relisters seems suspect to me (and I did look at the craiglist hunter video).
06/18/2019 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Why when I send an offer if the item is promoted do they take a fee? #63706It is possible 30 days (or some other number) is what it is. I should hunt around on ebay, or maybe someone here knows for sure. Still don’t love that. To answer your other question, I do think it is ebay user dependent though. I have sold stuff I know was on promoted listing that I wasn’t charged a fee so those people didn’t click through the promoted ad.
06/18/2019 at 7:18 pm in reply to: When automatic returns is on, can you stop a label from being printed? #63705Thanks, I thought the $25 buyer credit thing sounded super weird anyway but she offered it, so I hoped it was coming through. Ah well.
06/18/2019 at 7:17 pm in reply to: Anyone Else had trouble getting the Quarterly Credit for Using Promoted Listings #63704Yeah, maybe check May invoice and see if you have a $30 credit from April, if so that might be it for the quarter. I try to put a small enough % on my promoted listings that I usually use only the $30 or go a little over for the quarter. Actually I just went over y $30 for this quarter a few days ago, but sales have been so slow I’m going to keep the higher % on (5%) for the rest of the quarter to hopefully spur on more sales.
