Not sure what browser you are using, but in Chrome if you right click on the page you should get a link that says Translate to English. it won’t be perfect, but it may help a bit. I used this feature all the time in South America for airline webpages and it definitely helped. Good luck!
07/18/2017 at 6:33 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 319: Being Adults, Making Decisions #20469Not posting specific numbers but a few notes about my store’s week. One is that sales picked up this week as compared to the last two, but mostly low dollar items, under $15. However a bunch of these were things that were old stock, from a year or so before I even had my store. So those were nice to get out of the basement!
Interesting sales of note: I sold a chrome auto part found on the shelf at Goodwill for $100 – paid $3.99 for it. I sold a set of xmas mugs by taking a BIN of 25% below asking, then immediately after purchasing, the person doubted she got the right size mugs, and eventually cancelled the sale. The good thing is I relisted them, and two days later someone else bought them for full price! Yay! Lastly I someone put a BIN offer in on a low price item, I countered, and they countered back with a price higher than my counter! I’m guessing they made a typo, but wasn’t sure. I accepted the offer and figured I’d get an email asking to cancel the sale. Instead, 24 hours later they paid! It was under a $5 difference so I guess they just didn’t care and wanted the item.
4th of July celebrated my first 3 months with an ebay store, so I figured I’d give a little summary about how my numbers have been. First off, I’m not trying to do this as a full-time gig, just wanting to make extra money to pay down debt. I had 100 items listed before my store opened (I’ve been an occasional seller for a while), and I spent the first few weeks of April adding 100 more. In May and June I hovered around 210-230, and probably in the next week or so I’ll max out the store at 250. I’ll list my numbers by month in order so you can see the trends.
# of items sold each month: 14, 51, 33
The summer slow down hit in June and continues into July so far. In April I didn’t have 200+ items up the whole time or that number would have been higher I’m sure. Great May though!
Monthly sales $: 305.98, 1204.48, 1027.33
Sold a few high dollar items in June that helped a lot and can be seen in my average sale price below:
Average sale price $: 21.86, 23.62, 31.13
I do like the trend upward, but not sure that is sustainable. I want to make at least $15 per item ($20+ would be better) and with my average cost per item over the whole quarter was $3.06, I did achieve that goal.
Sold items of note were a Filson Canvas Field Bag for $140, a Cutco Wood Knife Block for $175 (!), and a rare Goorin Brothers Cap for $150.
Had a partial return when one glass of a set broke. I also accidentally sent the wrong book to someone. As a note to Ryanne (if she sees this) the buyer offered to refuse that book, it took 3 weeks to get to me and there was a postage due of $6.05 which was more than the media mail should have been to have her resend it. So I’m interested to see what happens in your case.
Thanks again guys for all you do on the podcast, both part-time and full-time sellers learn so much from you and the community!
06/06/2017 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 313: What’s your Backup Plan to eBay? #19108ChristineR – I found a Catherineholm plate a few weeks back, listed it and it sold immediately for $39. Maybe should’ve put more on it. But I wish could find a whole set of them!
I also got that offer to upgrade my store as well. I’m new to the store game so it wouldn’t work for me as I’ve only got 200-250 listed and not enough inventory to get up to 1000 any time soon. 400 or 500 would be a perfect size store category, I wish they would add that choice.
06/02/2017 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Strange occurrences of multiple purchases – would you do anything? #18923Thanks for the input Liz and Jay. I waited until this morning, not a peep from the buyer, so I shipped each one out separately and they are gone.
06/02/2017 at 2:20 am in reply to: Strange occurrences of multiple purchases – would you do anything? #18893Liz, that is definitely a possibility. I’ve dealt with re-shippers before but never one that bought a bunch all at once.
In the seller hub, if you do an advanced search, the first drop down box (mine defaults to “Title”) has Free Shipping. Choose that, then you choose “is selected” on the next drop down box. I checked mine and I had zero that I had messed up, whew!
