Two items that sold yesterday were sold with free shipping — but I always charge for shipping. One of the items went First Class, so I just absorbed it; the other was very heavy and cost more to ship than the item sold for.
I called eBay and the woman there just kept saying over and over to be careful when using sell similar that there was a little box I needed to uncheck … (sigh). I told her I got that, but could she check to see whether I had other items that were listed with free shipping, because I put weights and measurements on everything and never ship for free. She found two, which I updated.
Today, I found 4 more items! But only on the mobile app version. I updated the shipping through the app, but they still say ‘Fast N. Free’ and refuse to be fixed. On the website, they are listed as charging for shipping. They are all items I listed this week.
This is a serious problem. The one buyer yesterday was very upset when I told her I couldn’t ship her item for free and why. We worked it out and split the shipping cost because I felt bad about it.
Anyone else experiencing this? I searched the eBay forums, and it’s been happening there on and off for a few years.
I have little faith in calling eBay. I don’t have an anchor store, and the folks I get are always in the Philippines and always glacially slow to understand and seem to be reading from a script that is a few pages off. -

Not sure what to say. If it’s happening to you, then there’s a problem. Calling eBay is the only way to go since they are you’re partner in this business.
Sorry you’re having the problem. Hope you find a solution.

I think I experienced this a couple of months ago when a potential buyer messaged me about an item and mentioned that it had free shipping, when the listing clearly did not (when I looked on my laptop). He sent me a screenshot (mobile version) which showed Free Shipping. He didn’t end up buying it, so it never became a problem. Now I am motivated to check my items on my phone to see if it’s happening. Maybe tomorrow…

I just got dinged with free shipping to Hawaii @$17. I decided to eat it since I still made a profit, but I called Ebay to see if they could check and see if I have others. I;ve had issues before with checked boxes I didn’t check. The agent said I did it and he could not check the others except going through one by one. I sorted actives and it says calculated for all of them, but this this item I just sold was calculated for two other shipping options, so I’m not sure that cuts it. I use a hybrid, but mostly list on the desktop. I am not anchor so the customer service agent was not knowledgeable.
Does anyone know if there is a way to search for free shipping items among your listings? Do you ask to level up to a supervisor when you get foreign agents who can’t help? Last time I did that I got excellent service afterward.

If you have business policies set, you should be able to see those listings with free shipping set.

In the seller hub, if you do an advanced search, the first drop down box (mine defaults to “Title”) has Free Shipping. Choose that, then you choose “is selected” on the next drop down box. I checked mine and I had zero that I had messed up, whew!

These instructions are really helpful. Didnt know we could search so specifically in our own store. No free shipping on our items either.

Thank you Mickdog! One other came up as free shipping without the box checked. I did have local pick up on for that so I removed it. Not sure what happened with this item I just sold, but I’m pretty confident I didn’t click that box. Oh well.
Ecom, I don’t use business policies because it was a pain when I went on vacation and I had a hard time trying to get used to it, so I haphazardly created too many policies.
