I lived in the Middle East for many years and these kind of sets are popular souvenirs and gifts. It is definitely not a wine service, as Muslims don’t drink alcohol. It would be used for Turkish coffee in Turkey or for tea in the Arab world. And there would be a “brand”.

I can’t really see the knots from that photo but it seems to also be hand-knotted.
The signature on the Bokhara could be Arabic or Farsi, depending if it was made in Iran or some other country. The signature does not add significantly to the value, unfortunately. Most rug weavers are illiterate, and the signature is likely the name of the vendor or owner of the factory, which means the rug was probably made in a big city and not some hill tribe somewhere.

The first rug is a Bukhara (or Bokhara) pattern. Can you add a photo of the reverse side?
The second one is a Tabriz and is definitely hand-knotted and probably worth some good money since it is large and looks like it is in very nice condition.

I didn’t photograph the back cover as it was clearly an advertisement and I didn’t see an ISBN
Hand knotted rugs have an extremely tight weave on the underside. Machine knotted rugs – not so much. With a machine knotted rug, if you flip it over, you can grip onto a thread and pull it loose from the rug. You could never do that with a hand-knotted rug.
I looked up Ballston Lake Pottery and found it is a shop run by the artist James Sankowski. I wonder if that is his last name on the bottom?
It’s pretty! It reminds me of the colonial tile-roofed buildings in the hilly town of Taxco, Mexico.
I’m trying hard to keep tabs on my numbers and using this forum to keep me accountable. I don’t know why, but I have some aversion to this. Maybe I think tracking the numbers will take the fun out of it and make it seem like work.

Most folks selling want to make a profit and you can waste a lot of time scrolling through things looking for a bargain. I have notifications set, so if something I want gets listed, I get informed right away. Occasionally, I pick up some nice freebies from folks who just want to declutter and can’t be bothered to run to the thrift store.
