Just noticed another change there also, now there is a follow-up link for feedback you leave for others. I assume this is to update when something doesn’t go right after a sale. This change is very interesting and may have larger implications. I leave positive feedback for every buyer as soon as I receive payment. Now it seems I have the ability to modify that feedback later depending on how the whole transaction goes.
@heatherme – I can’t tell if you made it public or not, but I had one that I couldn’t decipher and posted to Imgur. It took over a year, but someone finally identified it, which helped a collector find it. Looks like Jerry Ernst to me.
It is pre-war and I found a few similar searching on “elfinware”. This one sold for $345.

@Simon – I got all excited when you mentioned the second report, only to find out this morning that it is only for Managed Payments users. I’ve been in the queue for months but for some reason they haven’t moved me over. Something else to look forward to.
Does that report provide any other useful information that the sales report doesn’t?
Thanks
Thanks for the podcast. I’m looking forward to the rollout of the unified experience. I have an android and my wife has an apple phone. They are so different in appearance and functionality that sometimes it seems it is a different company. The limited functionality of the phone experience in general has me staying away from it except to respond to offers. Funny thing also is that currently her iphone always gets the cha-ching notification long before I do.
I love that new sales report. Makes running the weekly numbers so much faster. I no longer have to sort through my own spreadsheet to compile the basic numbers. One problem with it that I have, though, is that it doesn’t always report the shipping costs I paid, so I have to recalculate the Net Sales column. And, of course, it can’t tell you what you paid for shipping on Pirate Ship. Also is some glitch that omits the listing title on occasion for a few listings.
Not a bad week of sales but below average. A lot of what sold were recent listings which lowered my average days till sale average to its lowest point I’ve seen. We’ve been selling a lot of pottery that we purchased a few weeks ago at an estate sale. Originally felt like we might have paid too much for the lot, but it is selling like hot cakes.

Normally, you would select all your listings then edit and export a list from there, but that report only includes a field for last update, which actually doesn’t show up in the export. I even sent a request to eBay asking that this be added.
@temudgin – Thanks for posting the information. I listened to the podcast and it was helpful. I find it interesting that Griff mentions that he had to research this issue for “weeks” to pull all the information together. It is not always going to be a straightforward process. This is only the second international return that I’ve ever had and the last didn’t require me to do anything with the return label. I don’t recall details, but it must have been a buyer’s remorse return that didn’t require action on my part. For anyone else who might listen to the podcast, the shipping part starts at 30:30.
Now that I’ve pulled the Band-Aid off it won’t be so bad next time, knowing what to expect. If it wasn’t an expensive item I would’ve just refunded and let them keep it.
Best, Mike
Also seeing this issue sporadically. Originally thought it was from some old drafts, but then it happened to a few that were only a day or so old. Haven’t determined a pattern, yet.
Good show this week. Can’t wait until the coffee shop opens and we have a new reason to return to Luray. Sounds like it is going to be awesome. Not a lot of competition for you and they seem to be in a different class altogether, from what I saw. And that location…
Had a great week on eBay with several high dollar sales. Sold another of my vintage Ansel Adams National Park posters, this time for full asking price of $399.95. Another cool sale was a 1960’s Knucklehead ventriloquist doll for $300. Another Radko Christmas garland for $200 and a fly fishing rig for $200. Don’t see weeks with that many large sales often.
Tried our hand at another online auction this past week, but prices are still through the roof on most of those around this area. We lost every bid except one, an antique bronze bust by a listed Belgian artist. Paid a bit more that we’d have liked, but my wife is Belgian and she thought it’d be nice to have around the house until it sells. After the purchase I found where another local eBay seller had the exact one listed on eBay until mid December.
Still have 8 packages lost in the USPS chaos. Had to refund one buyer last night whose item had shipped over a month ago. Had two negative feedback removed by eBay for Business on Facebook. The standard feedback removal request was rejected but they took it off within an hour.

Your Cashflow theory is interesting. I can see how that would be useful on an established business that has somewhat of a steady state, and these days as I see the business making profit, that could have some value. Early on, when just starting out, cashflow was always negative while I was building inventory.
I recall from my early investing days, that The Motley Fool always paid a lot of attention to cash flow when evaluating whether to buy stock in a company.
01/13/2021 at 5:22 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 496: Can Your Business Run Without You? #85149- @Jay – net sales = gross sales – eBay commission – promoted item fee – paypal fee. I’m using the newest sales report to pull these numbers.

- Regarding the box coupon, I’m amazed each time how difficult eBay makes it to find. I keep thinking, “oh, I’ll remember this next time”, and each time I waste extra time finding it. It was nice to see the increased variety of boxes available. I purchased about twice the worth of the coupon since I’d run through so much inventory during the holidays.
- I still have several waylaid packages that I’m tracking. Opened several research cases with the USPS. Actually got two calls from the Postmasters in the destination cities apologizing for the delays and promising they will keep a look out for my packages and deliver them safely. So far I’ve refunded two people only for the items to be delivered after the refund. First person repaid me, but the second is sending the package back. Will be happy when this comes to an end.
- With the new year, I decided to rethink how I factor my numbers. My gross numbers are now my sales not included shipping and taxes. I’ve also added “Net Profit Margin” which is profit after all fees and cost of goods are deducted. What could have been a mediocre week was boosted by listing new in box Radko Christmas garlands that we had 3 of. All 3 sold with a few days of listing for a total of $485. Unusual for something to sell so quickly. My average for all of last year was about 300 days from list to sale.

Very cool! I had one of those creepy crawler kits when I was a kid. Hard to believe they are worth so much now. Mine didn’t stay in such pristine condition, though.@Dahlyla – Thanks for the tip. On first glance through the listing, the poster seems to know what they are talking about, providing a lot of detail. But searching Baby Bud doll, I find that it was actually a completely different doll, though possibly made by the same company:

@Jay – Mine isn’t quite that fancy, but it does do the trick. I’m sure for you guys, having the mesh lowers the number of complaints from your renters. Some of the AirBNBs we’ve stayed in had laughable wifi. One we stayed at this summer was unusable and I had to tether my laptop to my phone to get service.
