Hello!
Fill in the standard “I fell off the face off the planet, now I’m back” yada yada that I give every time I go 6+ months without posting
Thought about the forum this morning while packing my orders and thought I’d hop on- and good timing too.
CONGRATULATIONS ON A YEAR!
Hope everyone is well, and doing well.
Personally, business is okay. Starting to cusp 2k in sales a month between Ebay+ Mercari, which is great, but I’d like to be doing more, as always. But the bills are paid, and everything is good, so what more can you ask?
Update: Mercari is actually even easier. You just have to rotate the 8.5×11 page to landscape and it’ll print a 4×6, so no photos required.
Thanks @Retro-treasures-wv , unfortunately I cant because the router is in the house and the packing stuff is in a outbuilding. There is mesh in there, but it’s in the window for better service, so it wouldn’t really work. The main push for the wireless is so that I can navigate it with my cellphone and be able to print all marketplace labels for me (Ebay, Facebook, Mercari, Etsy) and not have to be strapped down to the computer. My packing area and my office desk are about 10 feet away from each other, so its a bit of a convenience too.
So the ROLLO arrived. Here’s the good and the bad
The good: It is incredibly easy to set up. Takes like 2 minutes, connects via WIFI, so no bluetooth other than the initial setup for like 2 seconds, and works immediately with any device without any printer drivers. 4×6’s work great, and you can print photos, so if youre on a marketplace like Mercari that doesnt offer printing on a label, you can screenshot your label on your phone and print it out. I just started selling on Mercari in October and have made like 50 sales, and its been super annoying to have all my labels at stickers, then having to take sheets for mercari.
The Bad: I can’t immediately figure out how to change my print page from 4×6 to a 2.25×1.25, which are my inventory sticker tags. It looks like rollo supports printing from a speadsheet, so I can type out inventory numbers and use those instead of hand writing them for baggies of jewelry and pins and other small stuff. I am 99.9% sure this is user error, but I’ve been working on it for like an hour and can’t quite get it. It does read smaller labels on the printer itself, I just can’t print on them right now.
Also bad, Shipping was awful. Rollo said they would guarantee ship in a week, but I ordered mine when this post was made on the 7th and just got it today. Fedex 2 day delivery
Overall, here’s my thoughts: I would have been way more comfortable with this being a $200 printer instead of a $300 printer. I think personally it works well because of my weird layout and the mercari labels, however, I picked up a phememo at a bin store for $7 the week after I ordered the rollo, and it does all of the printing on different labels easily and comes with editor software, so what the rollo lacks, the phememo delivers. I thought about flipping it, but it seems like with the delay in shipment, that time has passed.
Thanks for the list Mark!
I was specifically looking for a wifi enabled thermal label printer, which seems to be hard to come by. We’ll see how the rollo does. I know people who swear by their wired rollo’s.
Thanks!
Good to know. I did just start selling more clothes, but I’m not entirely worried about those returns because they are usually less than a pound or at most less than 2 pounds. I think I’ll try it for a month and if it’s catastrophic, it can always be turned off. Thanks team!
Thanks @Antique-Frog, I appreciate it.
So, I’ve got to admit a fault- the Inad was totally justified. I thought were a pair of men’s shoes, and they were actually women’s shoes. They are a sportsman style and come in both genders and I bought them in the men’s section of the thrift store and didn’t even think about it being anything else because they are so manly looking.
Looking back on my post and my ebay numbers, the 6 returns were in 18 months, only 3 of them were in the last year counting this one. 1 was doesn’t fit, this one was justified, and the last one was a barometer that I didn’t specify was plastic instead of wood. I think I’ve gotten better at describing things, so it’s actually not as bad as what I originally thought. I read your numbers and was like “crap, what am I doing wrong?”
Right? Glad to know it isn’t just me
You’re totally right Jay- I’ve been meaning to seperate my buying and selling anyways, and it looks like this is the kick in the pants to do it. Keeping me honest!
Yes, so perfect example of this is my cuddl duds.
I bought out a bunch of these in april for $1 a piece at walmart. If I was going from a normal search, I would have only seen the end of winter numbers, which were really low. However, with Terapeak, I saw that they do really well in october, so I got a bunch. Now that we hit Oct 1st, I’ve sold like 6 today for like $15 a piece, and I’m sure more will be on the way. It’s like a light switch. Obviously thermals sell better at the beginning of winter, but I’m a baby seller and really lean on terapeak a lot before my gut. I also picked up a pedal car this week that the only comps are more than 90 days old. New comps aren’t the exact same, and are like $100. Exact ones like mine in the terapeak are like $250.
No, I use the same account for buying and selling (I know, bad move). I’ll have to see if you get terapeak with the $5 store. I could justify paying for a $5 for extra terapeak, but not the $20 store. This week I maxed out 4 days, but I’m getting better at timing out my searches or making sure to use all my searches in a day.
Hi!
So, Mercari doesn’t like Drop offs. Technically yes, I do, but they want stuff scanned within 24 hours so I get my little badge (it’s stupid, I know). Here’s what I did. I went back to my original walgreens that I wasn’t having problems with before and was originally nicer to me, just not helpful this particular night, and talked to a guy there that apparently is the smart post king. He took my package and it wasn’t a hassle. I watched how he scanned it so I have a little bit better mental note of how to explain it next time (I used to work at CVS and ran UPS, and its basically the same system it seems). I talked to fedex and they wont pick up from my house, bummer. I haven’t had a mercari sale that’s needed to go fedex since then, but I have like 4 that need to go out Monday for Mercari, so we’ll try it and see how it goes. I think part of it is not being in a rush and going during the day so I have time to stand there and not just let them reject me. I also can’t cover up where it says “fedex” on the label with ebay colored tape.
Re: Drafts
My college professor used to say “done is better than perfect”. I’m taking photos with my DSLR right now. They arent as great as my cell camera photos, but my phone is in the shop, and they get the point across, but I spent like a week where I wasn’t listing anything because the hump of listings not being perfect was just hard to jump over. Got over it. and now since my post on 9/22, I’m sitting at 1099!
Okay, so I hit my limit like every day this week. Here’s what I figured out. When you change the filters to like only used, then it means its a whole new search. I think it also counts the next page as a new search. Basically anything that reloads terapeak is a new search. I had messaged Ebay for Business again about it about a week ago asking for limits to be raised and this is what they said: “Hey there! As of this time the limits set by Terapeak are not able to be raised- however I will be sure that this is passed along to our site design to see if additions to the limit can be added! Thank you for the insight! ~Whitney” so no hope there. Ugh.
Thanks team! You’ll get there @Vintge-lacy . I suck once I pass a “00”, numbers “01-50” are the worst, then 51-99 I just want to get to the next 100. I’m sitting at 1067 right now and I just want to hit 1100 by Saturday.
I’m not sure that would work in my case because Mercari specifically says not to take it to USPS. i Feel like I have heard @Ryanne talk about Fedex picking up from their property, and it seems vvery un-scavenger to pay for a pickup
Hi, checking in. Definitey hit the limit today. I had a $0.25 cent sale and was checking prices on 50 clothing items i bought and hit the limit on like the 30th item. Theres no way the limit is 250 searches. Maybe 100.
