Alchemist (trash into treasure!)
I haven’t listened to the podcast yet, so apologies if this was already discussed… but how about a chili dog cart, parked outside your cafe during select times/days/seasons? There is a hot dog cart that does a brisk business in our resort town in the summer. They have a large statue of a hot dog putting mustard on himself which I personally find somewhat disconcerting.
I was wondering about a surveyor’s tripod, too. If the pointy bit is on the end that has the one leg, maybe there is supposed to be some sort of instrument suspended between the forks of the other end?
@Utahbill, so glad you have recovered!
I’m at 0 listings for the last 2 weeks. Usually this is a slow time of the year for me at work and I can get more things done, but not this year.
Sonia, I think you’re right. I shipped something today with 10 day handling time on, and it says the buyer was told they’ll get it on Tuesday. So it doesn’t help with the current situation, after all.
12/17/2020 at 5:19 pm in reply to: ebay has Added to its Dec 8th Shipping Delay Seller Protection Announcement #84414A buyer can only open an “item not received” request after the estimated delivery date plus 1 day.
Apparently they can also open a request two days after the tracking shows the item was actually delivered. Buyer was very nice, acknowledged the tracking and said they didn’t actually receive it, and requested my help. All I could tell them to do was check with their local carrier/PO/neighbors. And yes, ebay put my funds on hold until the request is resolved.
I initially changed my handling time to 5 days. Then ebay gave a buyer an estimated delivery date of Dec 22 for something that I wasn’t obligated to ship until Dec 18. This was something for which the buyer paid parcel select delivery to CA and I am in northern New England, all the way across the country. Really? So now I have 10 day handling.

I don’t have any, but I’ll put in a plug for Richard Scarry. I loved his word books when I was a kid.
Hope your dog recovers quickly!
Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Just six for me, none qualified for the challenge.
@Sharyn, I agree with your justification on the color and I hadn’t thought about the made in USA bit, but let’s say that doesn’t count.Wow on the Porsche brochure. I once bought an entire (working!) car for not much more than that.
The Rules: 1 point for any pertinent listing, 1 extra point for any creative justification (per justification), 1 extra bonus point to be awarded by me at the end seemingly at random, but in reality based on an exacting methodology known only to me.
Well this is a fairly stupid idea for the December challenge, but maybe it’ll spur someone to come up with a better one….
You’ve heard of Christmas in July, how about Independence Day in December? Anything patriotic (I think everyone in this particular thread is US-based, but if not, interpret that to your own national specification), red/white/blue, etc.
I don’t even think I personally have anything that fits this challenge, so if someone comes up with something else, my feelings will not be hurt 🙂
