The Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable dumbbells have been selling for crazy money ever since the gyms closed. Other exercise related equipment have also been hot. For awhile, it was nearly impossible to find and buy bicycles. People were actually fighting over them like they were cabbage patch dolls in the 80s.
The pandemic is probably what saved Peloton after that cringey Christmas commercial last year caused their stock to tank. They had the last laugh once the gyms closed and people came out of the woodwork to buy their exercise bikes.

Update: Per “Grace” on Ebay chat, it took “their system” 2 days to update to show that buyer had in fact paid on 9/21! She had no idea if I would get a defect for that or not since I couldn’t ship for 2 days due to “their system” but if I do, I”ll have to contact them again, explain it all again, and request the defect be removed. All of this for one of the least expensive items I sell.
For the 2nd item that sold, she indicated buyer had not paid yet – which is odd since I have immediate payment set for buy it now items and it wasn’t sold via a best offer.
No, Chico’s doesn’t sell well but there are a few unicorns out there that do great. I sold an asian inspired embroidered jacket from Chico’s for $199 not too long ago.
If I see Chico’s at a thrift 99% of the time I’ll leave it but I came across a deal that was too good to pass up. All NWT Chico’s that due to Covid were never even stocked in stores. Most items have $79 to $99 price tags. For $3 an item I couldn’t not buy it! One of the best parts is many of the listings are multi-quantity which makes for easy listing. I did leave behind about a dozen pairs of pink fringe pants because even at $3/pair I couldn’t see them selling. 🙂
42 new listings for me this week! I scored dozens of NWT Chico’s clothes for $3/piece. It was just the score I needed to get me fired up again.
No, I forgot to take the stupid clothes to the cleaners! Dang nabbit!
09/20/2020 at 9:20 am in reply to: LBJ Ranch card, Portable 8-Track Player, Mushroom clock, Deena ashtray stand #81705I wonder if the mushroom clock was a kit people could paint and put together back in the 70s. I have an almost identical clock listed for $24 but mine has more of a sheen glaze over it, its painted slightly different, the back component on mine looks older and it doesn’t have Arnel or Grace etched into it. When I saw your video my first thought was “what the hell?!” Because mine has been listed for awhile. Maybe I’ll use your key words and see what happens.
I grew up in a small town of 9,000. For small towns to thrive they need to be either near an urban center, have a large employer or be home to a wealthy college. My hometown is very lucky to be home to a small liberal arts college that has a 2.1 Billion dollar endowment (thanks to shrewd investing years ago by Warren Buffett.) A vocal group in the town complain that the college buys everything up and practically runs the town council but without that college, it would be just another quasi-ghost town with empty downtown buildings.
0 listings again but I got several photographed that will hopefully get listed this week.
I’ve just today picked up on the WedWoes challenge. I have a pile of clothing that need to be taken to the dry cleaner for either cleaning or repair. Usually I’d just toss or re-donate but these are a bit higher dollar. I’ll aim for getting them to the cleaners this Wednesday!
This is very Amazonian of them; a race to the bottom for NWT commodity sellers.
I got the email but no coupon, boooooo! My first purchase was 2002, a Dean Martin/ Frank Sinatra / Rat Pack playing pool poster. Hung it in my pool room way back then. Have since sold the pool table and house and moved 4 times to 3 different states. First sale was a quilt book in 2009.
3 listings – I finally broke my streak of 0 listings. My FT job has been nuts. But I got 3 up this week and each was a multi-quant listing so thumbs up.
0 – again! Arrrggghhhh I can’t wait for my work-life to calm the heck down so I can get back to what I’d rather be doing – listing!
Love everyone’s calicos. I have a black and white super fluff ball that thinks she has to sleep directly on top of my keyboard! I’ve tried putting down decoy keyboards and laptops but she is rarely fooled.
0 listings. I’ve been so busy with my FT job I forgot to post this week. It’s another big fat zero.
Hi Charles, I’m in Northwest Georgia too. My advice is don’t overthink it. Just use a spreadsheet to track what you paid for something, what it sold for and your fees. I keep another page of the spreadsheet for expenses I can’t tie to just one item, like shipping tape, labels, etc. As you grow, if your ebay venture gets more complicated you can adjust your record keeping and inventory system. For now, just start listing some things on eBay.
Unlike you, I have zero luck on FB marketplace. Maybe I’m just a little too far north of Atlanta to have much of an audience for it.
Best wishes, Julie
