I have had a Kenmore for 23 years, it is still running strong. It has gone two 4 yr rounds with my college aged kids living here with their room mates. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. We have moved around a lot with the military and have used a lot of different brands that were in our rented homes. I did not like the front loader because the washing cycle took forever, it couldn’t be opened once it began (if you forgot to add 1 article of clothing), and it sounded like a jet engine during the spin cycle. The cheap off brands are ok if you don’t have a large family and don’t expect longevity. I would stick to Kenmore, GE or Maytag, I think Maytag makes Kenmore now. If something is going to go wrong it will most likely happen in the 1st year, so make sure there’s a warranty.
Wow, 8 lbs on a 1st class label!I hope they get this guy if this is his regular practice. On the other end of the spectrum, I made a 1 ounce mistake and received a bill from the destination post office.
It was a first class item, Ebay charged 6.95 for 16 ounces. The po letter states it was 1lb 1oz and I should have paid 10.44 for a rounded up 2 pound item through Ebay. However, deficiencies are always paid at retail rate and that would have been 12.40. So, I owe the post office the difference of the retail rate, which is 5.45.
I am fortunate that they did go ahead and deliver the item and they did not charge the customer. I’m not sure how it happened and will need to tare my scale more often. Usually I am careful and will do things like cutting down the inside flaps of a box if its that close.
I’m not upset, I made a mistake, will pay and move on. From listening to the podcast, I have adopted the viewpoint that the post office is my partner, and truly, where would I be without them? I have had very few problems with them and many, many successes.Thanks for the podcast, as always it is much appreciated!
If this is a kid, his parents may not know he’s doing this. Ignoring it may be the easiest thing to do, but not necessarily the right thing to do. In this climate of school shootings, and hate crimes, and teen suicides, speaking up is important. This guy has the potential to hurt someone. Just contact ebay and contact his local precinct and let them know. There may already be a watch on this person, or you may be the only person willing to shine a light on his behavior. If they laugh at you or blow you off, so what! I truly regret the times in my life that I did not speak up. So this is me, speaking up, asking you to speak up.

I ended up discussing it more with the buyer and it turns out that she does have a locked box but she was worried about the theft of a box left on her porch. A flat rate bubble mailer will fit fine in her box. And yes, I was leaning toward your suggestion because the hassle was not worth the $2 I paid for the hat!
I did call ebay, however, and yes, all of the hassle I described earlier is what they suggested I do. I suggested they fix this issue.
Wow Liz! Glad you are ok, that sounds like an awful experience! I hope you will enjoy your CR-V.I have one and it is great for eBay and for travel. Like you, I have been making a lot of trips to So. Cal for family reasons.I will be heading there again at the end of January for a few weeks. I sometimes put them in the dryer on air fluff , no heat. You’ll know it helped if stuff shows up in the lint screen. There is also a pet hair tool that I have recently discovered, it costs about $10 at the big box pet stores. It is a giant brick of some type of foam material that you use dry, and wipe over fabric. It is pretty helpful.
Uggh is right! I hate dealing with glass. I know you have tons more experience than I, but could you lot it out on Craigslist? State in the title that it’s for resellers. When you meet, put the stuff in an open Costco-like box for the buyer to look at with just paper separating items. No wrapping, no shipping, all or nothing lot for the buyer. Taking them to the auction house is another option. Other than that, maybe just donate and cut your losses. Good luck! Wow, Grady, those were some crazy dreams! Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger, I think we all experience this scavenger anxiety to some extent.I woke up exhausted one morning because I had been endlessly packaging & shipping in my dreams. Mostly it happens when I start to feel that my business is controlling me and not the other way around. Sometimes when it’s happening a lot, I focus on what I can control and I try some positive scavenger visualization just before sleep. Cheesey I know, but it helps. I wish I had some tamales too!
Amid all the flotsam and jetsam of coffee mugs and random stuff, I’ve had a few decent sales in December. Just like the old Army tag line says, “It’s not just a job, it’s an adventure!”

Beyond the lost package issue, I think it adds a little integrity and personalization to the mix. As eBay gets bigger and more Amazonian, the person to person aspect is disappearing. I try to let the buyer know that there’s a real person behind the item. Also, (and I know this is cheesy),every time I sign my name I am reminded of my reputation as a seller and the quality of the item and the packaging. I may do things differently when my store is bigger and time is a challenge.
Jay, I know! I need to get them listed! There are some military, some air shows, some vacations – China, Europe, early Disney, Hawaii, etc., some 60’s & 70’s fashion and hair and the usual family events. There are about 25 full carousels and two projectors. Not selling many as singles, but grouping. We’ve had a few fun evenings watching slide shows of other people’s lives, haha.
Thanks for the link, shortandstout.I received a VERO take down for a print from a book. It was nicely framed and I didn’t know it was from a book. Even if I had known, and listed it as such, this particular artist did not allow resale of book prints and it was still a violation. I think you need to research the specific artist or copyright entity to be sure.
