My Samsung washer has been recalled, grr. Guess I am going washing machine shopping this weekend.
What brand and model do y’all have and love?

We have an LG frontloader that has done well for us over the last 6 years. I think we get good volume of clothing in and things get clean. I don’t know the model number and it probably has been changed since then anyway. We got ours from the scratch and dent section at a local appliance store.

My Samsung was recalled also. I just opted to have them reinforce it. They came and fixed it pretty quickly. Works just fine and it now has another year warranty on it.

My Samsung has some other problems with it, so we’re not even going to bother with the repair that is being offered. It was in researching the problems that I discovered it was part of the recall. :/ By the time I fix the other stuff that is wrong, I’m over half way to a new machine. :/

I have an HE2 Plus frontloader and don’t recommend it at all.

I have had a Kenmore for 23 years, it is still running strong. It has gone two 4 yr rounds with my college aged kids living here with their room mates. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. We have moved around a lot with the military and have used a lot of different brands that were in our rented homes. I did not like the front loader because the washing cycle took forever, it couldn’t be opened once it began (if you forgot to add 1 article of clothing), and it sounded like a jet engine during the spin cycle. The cheap off brands are ok if you don’t have a large family and don’t expect longevity. I would stick to Kenmore, GE or Maytag, I think Maytag makes Kenmore now. If something is going to go wrong it will most likely happen in the 1st year, so make sure there’s a warranty.

Same story here, but with 20 year-old Whirlpools. I know so many people that have been disappointed with their front loaders, that I didn’t think twice about investing $200 into my washer when something did go wrong a year or so ago. I’ll keep repairing rather than replacing for as long as parts are still available.

my aunt gave us a 2003 Whirlpool Duet front loader. the thing is HUGE and can hold a ton. it’s still kicking butt. when we started the Airbnb, we had to buy a matching dryer (so it stacked properly) and that also kicks butt. WE DO A TON OF LAUNDRY because of the Airbnb. so we need a reliable model and these ones have been awesome. people sell the duets on craigslist all the time.

Ours is a Kenmore. Old Kenmore. No fancy stuff all manual. EASY TO WORK ON!!!My suggestion get one you can repair yourself. You will save bags of money if you do!! We will never ever get one we can not fix ourselves!

I like this suggestion. My husband is pretty handy and likes fixing things. I am going to check out what is available at the mom-and-pop appliance store. I definitely don’t want another HE washer, and I don’t want something with an electronics panel that can go bad.
