Contract gigs aren’t bad as long as there’s a beginning and end.

How’s the transition to full time eBay? Any regrets leaving your career job?
12/21/2020 at 3:22 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 493: eBay Helping Buyers Understand Shipping Delays #84532Its been fun to watch you go from a guy selling stuff in his off-time to now running a full-time business. We either don’t get to see many others follow the same path, or few people have the heart to keep at it. Congrats!
We find categories of items that I also feel should be more valuable. If we were smart, we’d just store these items away fora decade till they came back in style.

Your item is being taken to my local post office this morning. The tracking number is 94055#############. Please be advised that the USPS is experiencing horrible delays. They have this message in red on their website: ALERT: USPS IS EXPERIENCING UNPRECEDENTED VOLUME INCREASES AND LIMITED EMPLOYEE AVAILABILITY DUE TO THE IMPACTS OF COVID-19.And it’s all over the news:https://www.google.com/search?q=post+office+delays&source= lnms&tbm=nws&sa=X&ved= 2ahUKEwjgsanO8NftAhVkp1kKHRHND jsQ_AUoAXoECCUQAw&biw=1920& bih=975 My local post office is now holding mail for 4 plus days before even sending it to the regional sorting center. All of my outgoing mail goes through the DC/Baltimore sorting center and there is a very good chance that it will also get stuck there for several more days. Some of my outgoing mail still remains unscanned after 13 days. This is why my store was on vacation mode when you made the purchase, so you could see a notice that your item will be delayed and to provide for a 2 week handling period. Rest assured that your item is on its way, but it is going to take much longer than expected due to the USPS delays. Thank you for your understanding. JohnPostcards sent with a stamp are getting a version of the above message sans tracking number and with this: Your card is being tracked using a 3rd party tracking service called lettertrack.com. You’ll receive emails (sent to the email on file in ebay) from this company as your card moves through the USPS system. When your card finally arrives at your local PO you’ll receive an email from Lettertrack.com that your card “is expected” to be out for delivery, usually the next day. However, due to the USPS delays, it could still take several more days to actually be delivered.BUT, I’m still getting some buyers that didn’t bother reading their ebay messages and are questioning why they haven’t received their item after 3 days.I have started eating the 1st class shipping cost for postcards between $9.99 to $14.99 to at least get a USPS scan. Today I will be editing listings in the $9.99 – $14.99 range to get rid of free shipping. But, I’m probably going to be particularly screwed with my low cost postcards that are shipped with a stamp.   I am using that lettertrack.com service, but it’s not much use when the DC sorting center hasn’t even scanned some letters for 13 days.  I can’t wait for Ebay to offer that tracking service that is only available for sports cards to those that sell postcards.Luckily, the great majority of people have been patient and understanding. “12/20/2020 at 8:00 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 493: eBay Helping Buyers Understand Shipping Delays #84494I use Chrome. That Bona Vita is the exact drip machine we use. Enjoy the coffee!
Congrats on your son being accepted to all those colleges!
12/20/2020 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 493: eBay Helping Buyers Understand Shipping Delays #84490That’s a good tip. Wonder if we put UPC’s on our products of you could get reviews?
Have a photo?
That brand is here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2303516.m570.l1313&_nkw=Cook%E2%80%99s+Bazaar&_sacat=0
We’ve been printing labels fine with no issues. I’d suggest restarting your computer or try a different browser.
Not sure if eBay rules are different (Im not then shipper in the family), but USPS says first class is 13oz or less: https://www.usps.com/ship/first-class-mail.htm
for large First-Class Mail envelopes and parcels, the maximum weight is 13 oz.
Others can hopefully help. I believe (but could be wrong) that eBay has a fairly strict policy on using native american” in the listing unless you have proof of its origination. Often sellers use the actual tribe name.
We usually just call items “American Southwest” since its just a style.
Where did you buy them? What makes you think they were made by Native Americans? That’s much different than just having that style.
Sorry no one has answered. I’m not an expert in these things. But it looks like a tourist version of a MICHIYUKI COAT: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=+MICHIYUKI+COAT+&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&_sop=16
I posted this on another thread:
eBay put out this notice on Dec 16: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/UPDATE-Helping-buyers-understand-shipping-delays-and-what-you/ba-p/31412134
For items in transit, we are keeping cases open for 10 more days from the time a buyer asked eBay to step in to allow additional time for the item to be delivered.
This is big. So once a buyer opens a Item Not Received case, we have 10 days to hope the item is delivered.
A buyer can only open an “item not received” request after the estimated delivery date plus 1 day. When a request is opened the seller has 3 business days to respond before the buyer can ask eBay to step in.
If tracking on the item shows movement within the past 10 calendar days and the parcel is in the destination country, we’ll keep the request open for 10 more days from the time the buyer asked eBay to step in to allow additional time for the item to be delivered. After that time, if there is no updated activity, eBay will consider the item lost and we’ll ask the seller to refund the buyer.
So I’m reading like so:
–Day 1: Buyer purchases on Day 1. Lets say its estimated to be delivered in 5 days.
–Day 7. They can only open a case after delivery day has passed plus one day.
–Day 10: Seller has three business days to respond. So it could be five calendar days if its over a weekend. If the seller can calm the buyer, the clock keep ticking. But the buyer can then ask eBay to step in.
–Day 10-20: If the seller can show tracking was uploading with some kind of movement, then the buyer must wait another 10 calendar days. It says “if there is no updated activity, we’ll ask the seller to refund the buyer”, so its unclear that any movement keeps resetting the clock.
So basically eBay is giving a MINIMUM of 20 days for packages to be delivered. But if you can keep the buyer from getting eBay involved or have a longer handling time, that time is even more increased.
Yeah, the key is to keep communication open with the buyer. If they can be mollified, the case shouldnt proceed.

eBay wouldn’t force a return if tracking says its waiting for pickup. if its not picked up, the package will be returned.
right?
