Yeah, it is yard sale season which is exciting. We’ll see if competition is still crazy or if some of the new sellers are slowing down on buying.
I think it will come back, as it always has.
For those of us who have been selling for a long time, there are definitely ups and downs. The death of eBay has been predicted many many times.
maybe
Yeah, it’s a slow time. Our large inventory is the only thing saving us right now. I cant remember the last week we made over $2000.
But we’ve seen these periods before in past years. Are it too many people selling? Are we in the middle of a recession (just unannounced)? Are we personally just selling too much weird stuff that no one wants? Is eBay crumbling because people are buying on other platforms?
I agree with Retro that these tough times are likely felt by all sellers. Maybe it’ll clear out sellers that can’t stomach a slow period. Maybe it’ll slow people from driving prices so high at auctions. All we can do is muscle through and adapt as we can.
One note: we’ve been doing a clean out of a building. Ryanne has been selling large items on Facebook Marketplace. While there are definitely people buying, its a cesspool of scammers. If we weren’t selling items for dirt cheap, it’d be a useless platform IMHO.
All shipping charges should be accounted for as “shipping”. eBay is just settling up when shipping is paid. But when tax time comes, the shipping should all be labeled as such.
How are you doing taxes right?
You found it!
That’s a good feeling to get taxes done and paid for. Very cool that Cash App Taxes work.
We use Square for our point of sale, employee scheduling, and payroll.
Judaica items always sell well for us. We always grab them at yard sales.
Yeah postcards are a whole thing. You want John at popeye’s postcard’s: https://www.ebay.com/str/thepostcardshow#tab1

Doing a big auction for all that stuff makes sense. Selling a couple things as a favor is nice. Expecting to sell a house of low dollar items is a job. You should just connect him to a service that does clean outs.
Renovations are much more expensive these days because of the demand for supplies and workers.
I hear about all the Californians moving to Oregon, Washington State, Montana, Utah, Nevada for cheaper living. The people there say prices are now going up!
I cant wait till one of your kids can drive.
Im excited to see if someone recognizes him. Very cool that its signed.
Its always great when eBay allows us the freedom to do other things, while still paying the bills. Hope everythings good!
Auctions we went to were mostly regulars who had thrift stores or were sellers of very specific items. I found that many of them were bad at pricing.
But now you see how its easy to load up on inventory when you buy tables/boxes of items. If you dont mind selling long tail items, it is (was?) a good source of inventory.
