That’s the dream! How did you determine the authenticity of the cannon?
Williamsburg is a great campus. But I agree that I-95 is a no-go for us.
With a young kid and another one on the way, getting a job with benefits make sense. And if you work from home, then its almost like not having a job 🙂
Awesome to hear about your patch experiment:
–So are you averaging $100+ a day selling patches?
–Is it harder finding collections of patches to purchase?
I’m right there with you. Unless they send photos of a broken item (that was our fault(, we always require the item to be sent back. Many buyers never do so there’s no return.
Whoah! Did the seller know he had a piece of that shipwreck!
The yard sale experience is so fun and so rejuvenating! The negotiating, the pile building, the peek into another families life…it ‘s just on a another level.
Yard sales and flea markets are exciting!
Thrifting has really turned into a drag. The truly unique items just don’t make it to the floor anymore.
Well said. We just dont go thrift stores anymore. Maybe the tides will turn one day when thrift stores realize they’ve just become “regular stores”.
That’s good news is a new generation is still interested. This makes it even smarter to start buying up big collections now when it’s still undervalued.
That is exciting when you find a good deal and then go all in. Bet on yourself!
Are you finding that there are younger train collectors buying for their own collections (under 50?) Or is is still an older person’s game?
Here’s the qualifications for media mail: https://about.usps.com/notices/not121/not121_tech.htm
It’s meant for education media and “Media Mail packages may not contain advertising” which I believe Reader’s Digest has plenty of.
Many sellers abuse media mail so it sounds like you were just caught.
Thanks for posting this. Assume they’re trying to combat the burglary/shoplifting rings where people are selling stolen items online.
We still treat scavenging like a treasure hunt. The goal is to find cool stuff while we’re out doing our daily lives. Especially now with selling online being mainstream, we try to scavenge in unconventional places and willing to sell things we might not otherwise have thought of.
What did you think of Phill after being away for so long. I’ve been hearing its a hot new place to live since its still relatively affordable and on the east coast.
Yeah, it’s the freedom of your time. Glad you got to be there for your grandfather and not stress about money.
I also agree that nice you have that eBay pipeline built, its good to also build another pipeline of some kind. Like you found a way to sell cards on another platform. Or maybe get a rental. Or whatever other way to make money that isnt a full time job.
You’re a very very nice neighbor for doing all that work for him.
Ive seen lots of talk online about people excited about cleaning up at BBB bankruptcy sales. Everyone also says they havent seen the deep discounts yet.
