Go, Sue! Those are great numbers!
My numbers were too abysmal to share this week; under $200, with about 150 items listed. Today’s sales have already surpassed it, so that’s the good news.
One of my local thrifts always sells clothes for $1, and one of the other local thrifts — usually more expensive– had a special sale with clothes for $1, so I dropped about $30 this week and have dipped my toes into the clothes business. I’ve sold a few pieces already — although I’m getting a ton of questions and lowball offers, which may mean it’s a short-lived experiment. I’m not really interested in clothes for the most part, so it’s just work.
It’s the hunting and the gathering, and then the researching and selling, that’s the most fun for me. It’s cluttered around here, but I’m not really attached to anything and for the most part I don’t take particular pleasure in owning specific things (although there are some paintings I really like, and a few nice pieces I regret selling.) I love finding things, and learning about them, and letting them go (for money, of course!)

I’ve seen flowerpots used for that purpose.I agree that it feels like a tourist/mall piece, and I can’t make any sense of the signature.

There’s lots of different brands at different price points under the expanding umbrella of “lagenlook” — in my experience it does quite well.
Some friends and I were actually discussing getting into the “well-worn” shoe business — I believe someone on Etsy sells, or used to sell, a handbook — but ultimately it was the spectre of providing more than just the shoes that stopped us from getting involved. As far as the fetish goes, I don’t judge, and would happily sell beat-up shoes to anyone, for any purpose, but providing more than just the old shoes is just outside my comfort zone.
I did once get a very odd, sort of worshipful message about a pair of mukluks. 😀
So, I’m having a “Condition not Applicable to this Listing” issue — I’ve listed a vintage skirt, in a “clothing – vintage” category, and my listing shows the item as “new with tags.” I have no ability to change the condition to “used,” and the fact that my item is new with tags (which it’s not) is fairly prominent on the listing page. I’ve made it as clear as I can in the body of the listing text that this is not a new item, but it’s super-frustrating. Why is “used” not an option within vintage clothing?!
I’m hardly the paragon of business sense or hustle, but I have “best offer” on almost everything over $40. 😀
I’m thinking they’re lamp finials.

One word of caution; Ecco shoes can have a sole-disintegration problem, so check the soles carefully when you buy. My husband had a pair dissolve on him while he was at an important event! He still gets comments about it.
I totally agree about learning high-end brands, not just of shoes and clothes, but of fabrics and other items. I am a broken record with this recommendation, but I subscribe to various home decorator magazines (Elle Decor is my favorite, as they do the most to educate readers) to learn moves and brands well above my personal pay grade.

Average price sold: $75The big news this week is that I’ve hired someone to come in and help me declutter and organize my house, including my eBay space. She started in the basement and the results have been just amazing. Right now, she’s working on the main living areas of the house (we’ve got a small house and the clutter is pretty tremendous), then once we’ve reclaimed the living spaces, we’re going to go deep and sort out the bins of old papers that have accumulated over the 15 years I and my family have been here. It’s such a relief.
We’ve had quite a bit of snow and ice and I haven’t gotten out to source as much as I’d like. Hoping to head up to an auction Thursday.
