@doublythumbs: I ran completely out of inventory to list a couple weeks after COVID hit. Once I could start hitting the auctions again, I’ve been loading up. I’m not sure what is going to happen when winter hits, so I am kind of hoarding up inventory to make sure I have something to eat off of if everything gets shut down again. My garage is about half full, but I’m still buying as much as I can just in case.

Total Items In Store: 2062
Items Sold: 24
Gross Sales: $514
Highest Price Sold: $100 (GE Oven Control Board)
Average Price Sold: $21.41Returns: 1 $26
Money Spent on New Inventory: $12
Number of items listed: 19- Very low week in sales. Only hit about half of my $1K weekly goal. Looks like it might have been fairly slow for other sellers as well.
- My high sale of the week for $100 was found in a pile of free items at a yard sale that I stopped at when I was on my way back to the airport from our trip to Maine.
- I’ve been a little slow on getting new items listed. I had one of my rental homes come available and have been doing some remodel work on it to get it ready for the next tenant. Should be done this week and be able to get some serious listing done.
Congrats!! It is nice having that steady paycheck, but it’s so worth having control of your time and not having the stress that comes with the corporate job. Good luck!
Thanks Simon…that is exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping the switch to managed payments would mean I wouldn’t have to track everything monthly, but it looks like I still need to. At least this breaks it down by month…my managed payments runs from the 15th to the 15th, which really messes everything up.

Number of items listed: 0- A pretty good week in sales highlighted by a $500 sale of a rare book. I had the book listed for $750 and took a best offer. The best thing about this sale is that I got the book at a local auction for $1 last year.
- It was nice to rebound from the slow week last week and have sales back over $1000 for the week. Even without the big book sale, I would have been right at the 1K mark that I shoot for.
- I have always been irritated that I can’t get the custom sku from the sold page in the eBay app. Most of mine are still not showing the label, but some are now. Odd that it’s hit or miss like that.
- I got a call from my brother in Colorado this week. He was trying to set up an eBay store and had questions about selling on eBay. It will be interesting to see how serious he takes it and would be fun to share stories with him if he gets into it. My 19 year old son has been selling on eBay since he was 14, so maybe it will become a family thing.
- Does anyone know how managed payments works with taxes? I switched in mid July and I’m reconciling the last couple months to have all my paperwork ready for January. I am assuming that I will no longer have to write off sales tax, shipping and eBay fees and that eBay will only 1099 me for what they have paid out to my account. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Highest Price Sold: $150 (Pair of Discgear Selector Storage Cases)
Average Price Sold: $23.67Returns: 0 $0

Number of items listed: 0- Sales were a little slow last week and quite a few low dollar items. Not terrible though, considering I was in Maine all week and had the store on extended handling time.
- I brought an extra suitcase with me and was able to fill it with some good items for pretty cheap. On the way back to the Boston airport Saturday morning, I stopped at a community yard sale and picked up a few very good items.
- I got to listen to last week’s scavenger podcast on my flight home. Thank you for helping shorten my flight with some great conversation!
- I actually use the sell similar quite a bit. I almost always change the title and have to make adjustments to the listing, but it seems to make listing easier for me than starting a listing from scratch.

Number of items listed: 101- Another very nice sales week this week. Two weeks in a row of great sales.
- I had a return this week was for $50. They contacted me about an hour before the post office picked up the item and wanted to cancel their order. Better that way than after it shipped at least. I also had another $60 return for a college textbook that took almost a month to reach the buyer. They had to purchase the book somewhere else to have it in time for class.
- Scavenge of the Week: It was actually last week. I picked up 3 Precision Trolling Manuals from a yard sale at a local lake for $3 each. One of them sold this week for $175.
- I got quite a few things listed this week and got my store back over 2100 listings for the first time since April.
- I love that Ebay is going to be having time away settings. I currently have around 15 different shipping business policies that all have to be changed several times when I am out of town. Too bad this doesn’t go into effect until the end of September, as I am traveling next week and it would have been nice to use the new feature right away.
I use the exact same method using a PC. I’ve had the same issue the last few days. I go to the App on my Iphone to add pictures and I lose item specifics. Often times it’s for Brand and MPN which are required specifics, so the app gives me an error when I try to list it. The issue seem to be intermittent though…doesn’t happen to me on every listing. Gregg.

Number of items listed: 38- A great week in sales this week. Aided by some high dollar sales. $200, $200, $250 and $600 sales. The $600 sale was an item I picked up for $50 at an auction about a month ago. Probably my best average price sold ever this week.
- I spent $153 at an auction house this week. One of the lots was a garbage bag full of purses I picked up for $6. My wife found $12 in one purse and $100 in another.
- Had a great week scavenging for new inventory. Scored some great items at a local online auction, had a truckload full at the auction house and a local lake community had their community yard sales after postponing from memorial day weekend earlier this year.
- My highest priced sale from last week was returned this week because it wasn’t working correctly. That was a bummer, but it happens sometimes.

Number of items listed: 31- Had another slow week in sales this week. The week started very slow and then picked up with a few higher dollar items near the end of the week.
- Scavenge of the Week: There is an older gentleman in a town near me that has a yard sale every once in a while. He sells everything for 25 cents and has a garage full of tables loaded with stuff. He had a sale this week and I spent $12 on a huge pile of inventory. Last year, I bought a skippers hat from him that sold for over $100. After talking to him for a bit, we found out he has access to some storage units and this is how he gets rid of the massive amount of stuff he gets.

Number of items listed: 47- Had a pretty slow week in sales this week. It’s been kind of a roller coaster ride lately with good and bad weeks. On Sunday I only had one sale for a package of seeds for $4.99.
- Spent some quality time listing this week and got my store back up over 2000 listings.
- Won 1 item at an online auction this week. Every other item I wanted went for way over what I was willing to spend. Luckily the auction house is only about 20 miles away.
- I loved the thoughts from your caller on specialization. Very interesting topic!

Number of items listed: 4- Had a very good week in sales. My second highest week of the year and had 4 items over $100 sell this week.
- I need to get back to listing as my store inventory has dropped back below 2000 items. I had planned on a couple of good days of listing this week, but the Derecho Storm had other plans for me.
- Scavenge of the Week: Stopped at the local hardware store because I ran out of garbage bags during my storm cleanup at one of the rental houses. I happened upon a clearance shelf next to the bags and picked up 3 items I could flip. I spent $26 including the bags I needed and listed $75 from my added finds.
- My Ebay fees were at $0 since changing to managed payments. This week a $4 fee showed up. Turns out it was a fee for an item that relisted and had bold listing turned on. I’ve been paying that fee since June and didn’t realize it.

Number of items listed: 18- A little late posting sales this week. We got hit with a freak storm early in the week. 100 MPH winds for about 20 minutes straight. Had trees down at 2 of our properties and one landed on the porch roof. I’m pretty sore from cutting and hauling wood for the last couple of days, but it’s all cleaned up.
- Put my store on 3 days handling last week, as I was out of town for a wedding and had my son doing my shipping for me.
- Got switched to managed payments this week…a little freaked out at first about how it all works. Seems mostly fine, but I don’t like not having instant access to the funds like I had with PayPal.
- One of my favorite auctions opened back up again and I went last week. Interesting dynamic….about 50% wearing a mask. Most of the 70+ years old were not masked. Old farmers just going about business as usual.
- Scavenge of the Week: I had the winning bid of $2.50 on an online auction of the entire wall of glassware behind someone’s basement bar. Lots of unique glassware from the 70’s and a couple of cool decanters. My wife packed it in boxes while I hauled it up to the car, so I don’t even know what all is in there. It will be fun to go through when I am ready to list it.

- Sales were awesome this week even with a 3 day handling time. Only 34 items sold, but my average price was over $50 due to a number of high dollar sales.
- I resold the same milk pasteurizer this week that I sold a couple of weeks ago. The buyer never ended up paying for the item. This buyer paid right away, so its off to Texas!
- I agree with the comments on FB marketplace. I do use it often though to get rid of big items I don’t want to deal with. I generally put a low price on it so it goes away quickly. Kind of the opposite of my Ebay store.
- Scavenge of the Week: Stopped at a yard sale in the middle of nowhere western Colorado on Sunday afternoon and the temperature was 100 degrees. Behind the house looked like a flea market with the entire back yard covered with tons of junk and a couple tents full of stuff. It looked like just a ton of junk, but once I started digging around I found a Tramex Moisture Encounter Plus meter. Sells on Ebay for around $200 and was priced at $3.75. Also found a few other great items and only spent $15. I wish I had a few hours to just dig around there, as I bet I would have found some great deals.

Number of items listed: 30- Pretty good week in sales and it was aided by a $400 sale early in the week.
- The $400 sale was for a circuit board for commercial washing machines. I got a tub with about 20 new boards in it at an auction last year for $30. They are very slow sellers, but when one sells, it makes your week.
- Picked up a bunch of new inventory from a local online auction of an industrial motor repair company that went out of business. I was a filthy mess after retrieving everything from the warehouse from all the dust on everything. Once cleaned up, there are some good high dollar parts to sell. A lot of them are new in the box.
- I really need to take a look at all of our insurance policies also. Especially the house and rental property ones. Over the years they have really gone up and I am probably over paying.
