That was fun to watch! Maybe I’ll attempt when the grands are home for Christmas. OR, maybe I’ll let them attempt it and see what they come up with. Thanks for sharing.
12/17/2021 at 8:13 am in reply to: Pink Flamingos, Stereo equipment, Sears typewriter, Harley Davidson jacket #94276I found a Napa Valley cassette holder in my death pile! I’m listing it this week:) Thanks for the what sold video Steve. I probably wouldn’t have dug it out. And your poor dog, can you imagine what he’s thinking??!!!
CONGRATULATIONS on your windfall! I don’t have any suggestions for where to use it, but am excited to follow along as you figure it out. Please keep us updated as your year progresses.
12/11/2021 at 7:30 am in reply to: NAPA Cassette boxes, Panasonic radio, Darkroom timer, Labyrinth game #94201Steve: I use to sell Napa Valley boxes and had forgot about them. Your post reminded me to look again. Thanks for another what sold video. My favorite kind of video!
Sharyn: What an amazing frame and sale. I sell frames from time to time, but never one like that. I usually pass right over the ceramic type frames. Not anymore:)
My big sale this week was a huge wool blanket. It had black hairs on it that seem to be woven in the fabric. I hesitated to list, (didn’t want a return) bit the bullet, showed hairs in photos and ended up taking a best offer of $99.99. Fingers crossed it isn’t returned.

Number of items listed this week: 5Felt like a good week. Since I’ve made myself post my numbers I’m always amazed at fees. It makes me face reality. Thanks for continuing to post your weekly numbers Jay. I know there is a cost to doing business. Sometimes my brain sugar coats it. Actual fees were about 22% of sales instead of the 45% that ebay showed with shipping added to it. And we usually do make a little on the shipping since ebay gives us a discount and we use calculated shipping based on weight.
Did a little thrifting at the Goodwill outlet this week and hit the local auction house on Saturday night. Working through the new stuff this week. Like several others, we had company 4 days this week so didn’t get a lot of listing done.
I worry about the housing bubble too. Scares me when I see our kids refinancing to pull their equity out. Must be my age. I’ve saw things go south economically before and I worry it will again and they will get caught in the trap. My goal is to get it all paid off, sock enough away enough that we can weather a crash and hope it doesn’t actually happen.

Number of items listed this week: 72 good weeks in a row! I’m thrilled. Like you Jay, usually the holiday season is only okay for us since we don’t sell new items, hoping this year it stays steady since we had such a dismal fall selling season. No auctions this week, but hit a couple thrift stores. We do so much better at an auction. The thrift stores are pricing their items so high here that it’s hard to catch a good deal for resale…but it’s fun to keep trying to find something they’ve missed:) Lots of death piles, I could quit sourcing for months. But, sourcing keeps me motivated to list…it’s a big circle.

Number of items listed this week: 7FINALLY a week I feel good about. Funny thing, ebay had a problem last week where we couldn’t see sold items, inventory, etc. My sales went up during that glitch!
Most everything that sold came in estate auction box lots that I pick up for a couple dollars at our local auction house. The Jade East was inside an English Leather Gift Set Box. Never been opened. I’m guessing a gift that was put away and forgotten.
I agree, nothing like having to disperse an estate and all it’s “stuff” to make you realize that most of us have way too much stored around us. I read somewhere, “that item you are sticking in a closet because you don’t use it, is not going to get used more, get rid of it” A good philosophy for me to hear.
Great news on the markers! I remember when you purchased them. At the time I thought you were brave. Love how you continue to teach us to jump in with both feet:) Congratulations!

Number of items listed this week: 6Sales picked up a little. Since I’ve started to post my weekly numbers here, I’m always appalled at how high selling fees continue to be. Almost 40% this week for me. Will continue to monitor.
I’ve used it several times since reading about it on one of the threads! Pretty amazing. Especially for those weird items that I have no idea what they are. Like you, I downloaded the google app and it’s right there.
@mark-s: I laughed when I read all your titles:)
@julesbijouxvintage: those big returns hurt:( thankful they were honest about the reason for returning and you didn’t get stuck with the return shipping cost!thanks to all that take the time to post numbers, it’s always reassuring to see them!
good to see you slowly improving and your sales were great this week!!!

Number of items listed this week: 10Better week here. More motivation and time for ebay. Going to auctions always increases my motivation and I made it to two this week. Box lots are my favorite thing to buy. It’s like Christmas morning when I get them home and go through them. I’ve learned to look up EVERYTHING because what I think looks like junk can be worth listing. I recently sold some wood curtain rings for $22. I probably would have donated them to the thrift store if I hadn’t looked them up.
I rarely list an item unless it will bring at least $20. And I’m trying not to list anything with issues. That being said, if it has issues and will still bring good money, I’ll list it and disclose the issues like everyone else:) Items that I acquire that I don’t list either get sent to the antique booths or to the thrift stores.
Hoping all the ebay glitches settle down soon and we can all have a great 4th quarter.

Number of items listed this week: 3We were on vacation for 2 weeks, so all the shipping fees for those 2 weeks came out of this week’s sales. That’s why we were in the negative. Our granddaughter came home to spend the week so we did very little listing, choosing to enjoy her instead. Since she loves thrift stores and auctions, we were able to do some sourcing while she was here.
We are going to get our first negative in a very long time…that still hurts:( We shipped the wrong item. AND, due to an ebay glitch, it was a multiple item listing that failed to correct the quanity available when it sold. We no longer have the item they want in stock:( I hate it when we make the mistake, but there isn’t anything we can do about it except refund her, tell her to keep the wrong item, take the negative and move on. I keep hearing Jay say, “Say what needs said and then go silent.”

Number of items listed this week: 4Getting ready to head to Gulfport AL for some vacation time with our son and family so changed handling time to 2 weeks and turned off promotions on Friday. Will be interesting to see how that affects the store/sales.
Sales continue to be slow and I’ve not listed. I do believe there is a correlation between listing and sales. But then again, even our antique booths have slowed down this week, so maybe it’s the increased virus numbers in Ohio.
No auctions this week, but hit a couple yard sales and thrift stores for a few bread and butter items. Sourcing helps keep me motivated to list, but I have a large backlog of items waiting to be listed:). I never panicked about inventory during the shutdown earlier, I probably won’t get all I have listed before I die. I call that pile the “revenge pile” …my kids will have to deal with it, payback for those stressful teenage years of sleepless nights they put us through years ago:)
