Oh no! I still need mine. I’ve been a bad night owl and want to start my day early!
No, I spent a year and 4 months adjusting medical claims for an Indian company contracted by our state governments medical plans. It’s tedious. The rules constantly change, the application everything on crashes daily, and your pay is dictated on how many claims you pay. My lowest claim pays 22 cents.

Hi Jay,
Well When I first started listing to the podcast I had just lost my best friend. My partner and I decided to move immediately after that. I took temp positions to get us back to his home town. After a layoff I decided to start a store. Then I was given an opportunity to work for my current position. When I took this position, my partner, while extremely hardworking, could only bring home $10/hr. I didn’t make enough on unemployment to justify passing up a full time position, complete with benefits. I was also extremely lonely. Up until I got the position, I struggled to set up my shop, and went out specifically to find more items. The position started and my listing took a back seat. I met people I have grown to love, struggled to solved difficult problems, and gotten burned by corporate greed, all in one year. Looking back, if I had not taken the position, I would have been working for myself much sooner, but I wouldn’t have met some amazing people. Now the difference is, I have confidence in my ability to succeed and my partner has a much better position.
In the past I struggled with distractions, but a mental shift has occurred in past year. I have given 50 hours a week to a company that pays me per piece. Between a bad decision on product training by the company, their matrix system, and 40% pay cuts across all accounts, I will not make enough money to justify giving them that kind of time. If I can focus that long for them, I can do it for me, make more money, and be happier.

Thank you! This led me to a recently sold listing. Very helpful!
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it. I realized an accountant needed to be involved at some point. I should have realized the beginning would be best. Now I have to choose someone…
Thank you for taking the time to respond to me!

I’m with you Ryanne, might not be worth it for resale, but maybe someone with a hobby might want to buy some sad looking sneakers.
I’ve been scraping together elements for the past year or so, mostly things like my dress and rings. I’d be fine with a courthouse wedding but it would upset my inlaws to not have something more. We pretty much told them if they want to pay for it, sure. But I veto churches, or a religious service of any kind. I’d be happiest in a park gazebo and the barman with his internet marriage license.
I’ve always wanted something low key like a potluck reception. I just want a special day to mark the legal beginning of my marriage, not to go into oodles of debt. I’ll probably pay for some nice photos to be taken, so that when I am old I can enjoy them. But I don’t think it’s worth paying stupid amounts of money on fancy wines.
I personally believe the best gift from anyone, and from myself, would be an investment in our future not the party for the day.
Thank you! It wasn’t a very expensive item, but I don’t want to give things away unnecessarily. This seems like a good way to handle it.
The more you know.
Did any one notice one of their items is a Vietnam War metal? Is that legal to sell?

Happy Resolution! Thank you all so much. I just got my case closed in my favor.
I think when I initially posted this I was under the impression that ebay only helped sellers with these kind of issues if they had an anchor store. If anyone else has apprehension about calling ebay, don’t be. My experience was extremely helpful. The other person patiently waited and guided me as I stumbled through issuing a partial return and uploading the proof to the case.
This was a positive experience. I’m happy to continue with my store and less scared of dealing with customers’ returns.
Thank you to all of you, for your help. And thank you MyCottage for saving me from making a mistake. I will report this buyer and call ebay. Thank you!

They buyer did not admit to buying it. The buyer compared the shirt to one they already owned. I provided measurements in my listing.
It is not the return that bothers me, it’s the dishonesty. I’m also not angry.
I’m contemplating opening my store again. I once sold some items on there but I’ve always seen it as a disadvantage to not have “make offer”. I do think the lower selling fees are appealing. I’m not sure I have 100 items to put up there, but I hear that is the “sweet” spot for selling well on etsy. Does anyone have both etsy and ebay? How do you decide what to put where? When did you really see etsy become a significant part of your business?
My issue is that I don’t have the time to go to the post office when it is open. For high dollar items I will have to figure out a way to do it in person, but everything else I just have to risk it. I am working a job that requires 50 hours a week. My partner and I work out the drop off but neither of us are consistently available during USPS business hours.
