I made a light box out of tissue and a cardboard box that worked much better than the nylon light box I eventually bought. Unfortunately my daughter was living at home at the time and her cat(part Maine Coon) thought that the light box was a perfect place to sleep.
Now I have lights on stands with umbrellas which take up a lot of room but the photos are better. If I could just learn to use a tripod to keep my hands from shaking I could take better pictures.07/10/2017 at 11:55 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 318: Spending Money Should Be Painful #20223If it’s painful to spend money then I should be in intensive care.
Sales are slow, I’m busy with another project, I haven’t put up any new listings in who knows when and I am bleeding money.
But, I have decided rather than rip out a ceiling and wall board in 90+ heat that I will sit in my somewhat cool house and list. The wall board will wait and hopefully I can make some money to pay for new wall board.Glad to hear that you had a nice vacation/business trip. Always good to get away.
When I get boxes, air pillows and bubble wrap for free I call it ebay groceries!!
When you turn the pin with the stones on top it looks like a riding circle, riding crop and a boot. Have you tried equestrian related companies or organizations? The stones look like a service pin. Emeralds and diamond on 14k gold.
Is it possible that the person who made the offer doesn’t know how the best offer works? Maybe they really want the item and think they are bidding on an auction. Of course the overpay and get refund may be true. Stranger things have happened.
You do need to call ebay. If the buyer emailed you thru ebay and said it shrunk that is something you did not do. Did he wash it, dry clean it? Do you know the fiber content? Is the care tag on the garment? If the buyer shrunk the sweater it is possible that they just threw it in the wash and didn’t read the tags. You may have to eat the cost of the sweater but you needed to get your information on the listing with ebay. Be sure to take pictures of the returned sweater and upload them to ebay. True, they will probably side with the buyer. You never know, but at least you did your best. After you do that forget all about the sweater and move on. It’s not worth the headache. You did your best and the buyer will have a mark on his account. Maybe we can’t see it but ebay can and if he continues he will get his fingers slapped.
When I first looked at this piece my thought was that it was for a vintage kerosene lamp holder but didn’t find anything like this. Magnifying glass sounds good!
Around here when a yard sale starts at 8am you will get buyers as early as 6am. One reason I haven’t had a yard sale in a long time. I have seen yard sales recently starting at 7am, 8am and 9am. I think it is smart to stagger the times. Me, I’m not a morning person…except on yard sale days to buy not sell!!
I haven’t checked any listings to verify but I am guessing that I have had a problem with listings showing up. I have averaged 1 or 2 sales daily, if lucky, and some days with no sales, all of April.I was averaging $200 a week, down from $700 average, until this weekend. I sold 1/3 of my total sales for April on Fri Sat Sun. Six pair of shoes(3 Dr Martens), and a lot of higher priced items. It may not only be a new listing problem. I did notice when I ended listings because of high views with no sale that I had 3-4 of them sell this weekend.
Why can’t ebay give us a heads up when there is a problem? It’s not like I’m going to sell on another site and abandon ebay.Just remember that just because you are friends this is business. 50% after fees is a fair price. I listed some items for my daughter and I deducted the fees, postage from the sale price and split the profit 50-50. She and I soon learned that something that sells for $20 is not worth the trouble for either one of us. She only sold a few items, thank goodness.
One thing no one has mentioned is the speed that things sell. Does your friend realize that some things may take a long time to sell? It isn’t list it today, sell it tomorrow for almost everything. Of course if you get to pick and choose the items and you can choose items that have a quicker turn around time. How often does he expect payment? Consider also that a buyer can return an item as much as 30 days after the sale. Who is responsible for the refund if you can’t cover the amount in your paypal account?
I have sold several motorcycles on ebay and had good luck with the first one and sold the second one twice because of non payment the first time around. The Mercedes should be top quality or a sought after model or it won’t be worth your time to reply to all of the inevitable questions. I never realized that someone could ask such specific questions about a motorcycle until I listed the first one. Glad my hubby knew all the answers.04/17/2017 at 11:50 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 306: We Love Flea Markets and Craigslist #16707I find if I put coats and things in a tote an decide to “handle them later” that I forget about them until too late. I have a tote half full of swimwear that I needed to get up but my SweetiePie keeps me busy and his medical needs are more important than swimwear. I’ll get them eventually.
04/16/2017 at 11:52 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 306: We Love Flea Markets and Craigslist #16664Haven’t listened yet, waiting until tomorrow when I will finally get to take photos again. I was happy to see in your second store your biggest sale was a winter coat. I have a stack of coats measured and just sitting there waiting to be photographed. I debated with myself if I should list winter stuff now or pile it up and wait. But myself finally decided an item listed now is listed and I can forget it. Spring, Summer or Winter I don’t think it really matters. If a buyer likes it and needs it they will buy it.
LIST ON!!!!After re-reading all the various articles mentioned in this thread I am sure that there is something to be learned from Nasty Girl’s ebay adventure. However as previously stated, the Netflix series is “loosely based” on her book. I am not a big fan of reality tv as I believe their reality is not really reality. But that is just me. This series may offer a lot of information and insight into ebay selling. But we have to keep in mind that Netflix wants people to watch it and they want excitement, adventure and they may “tweak” what actually happened. So I think if this series is viewed with that in mind we may learn something about Nasty Girl and her ups and downs.
Looks appliqued with embroidery embellishments. I don’t see any quilting unless it is quilted in the ditch. Looks tropical, maybe Hawaiian but not quite. Just a fancy quilt block that is framed.
Any thrift store out there can up their prices but they still miss items that are of value. So this piece of “art” will come and go with hopefully hardly a ripple. Then there are the thrift stores that will pay no attention to this “art”. The art I speak of is bulls**t.
