With zero for the week, I posted the Mini Challenge to motivate me, and others like me, into making the effort to post at least ONE item. I decided to list a batch of U.S. States fridge magnets. I wanted to create a single listing with variations, but eBay didn’t have an option for variations in that category. WTF eBay?
Sheer perversity later, I created 51 individual listings for my magnets. I kid you not! It wasn’t really that big a deal as I just had to change the name and nickname of the state, the measurements, and the photos on a Sell Similar listing. Only 2 photos; front and back. Plus I scanned the magnets and then cropped the scan to create the photos of each one, scanning a batch of 4 at a time. And I didn’t sweat the small stuff (Sharyn would be so proud of me for resisting the OCD urge.) But it still took me about 8 hours!
So my number is 51 for the week, and all on Saturday! Ha! I’m a lunatic, it’s official!
Now, please excuse me, I have to go do a couple of test runs at our firing range to ensure that all the guns work, just in case those guys in a white van turn up and I need to run them off…
“Just try on this nice little white coat, Toni, it’s super comfy. Especially when we do up the buckles on the back!” Mwaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha!@ChristineR We can write our store names in the dust on our respective stores! LOL
I posted the challenge this morning to motivate me to list as I had zero for the week. I’m gonna blow y’all out the water this week. Jes’ sayin’… π π
Sharyn, do you use the app to load photos? How do you edit the photos if you don’t like them? I tried using my phone, but the camera is shyte and I hated the end result. Ended up deleting them all and using a camera and editing on the PC. Would love to be able to use the app and upload straight into the listing, but I’m such an OCD twit that it frustrates me not being able to edit the pics.
I’ve been looking into upgrading to a Pixel 3 (I have a Nexus 6) and they say the camera is awesome. About the same price as a baby DSLR though…
Weekend Bonus Point Mini Challenge!
If you have not listed anything yet, list at least one item this weekend. If you have listed something already this week, list at least one more. These items count towards your weekly total (of course) but put in a note how many you listed today and tomorrow under Bonus Point Challenge.
Bonus Point challenges are not about how MANY you listed, but that you DID list, so anyone who lists today and tomorrow will be put into a random draw. Winner gets one point, separate to the weekly challenge point.
@Jay TL:DR No upper limit. Totes can hold an amazing amount of bagged clothing and I’ve even put entire ski suits into them, then filled with smaller items, and they hold a stack more stuff than a shelf or hanging rail.
I prebag, label each bag with the SKU, and then the bagged items go into totes that are labelled with the SKU range. All clothes are alphanumerically SKU’d as K…. So the totes could be labelled K122-K154 for example. If one large clothing item takes up half a tote, the numbering range will be smaller and I move onto the next tote. I find that this method stores the clothes most effectively for space, is easy to find the items for shipping, and easy for shipping. Grab the item, throw it in a polymailer, slap on the label. Because clothes are already in a bag, I don’t have to worry about the item being left in the rain or anything. My totes are stored on racks in a shed with a small window air con unit that only runs during the summer. I’ve had no problems with mold or anything like that.
Large clothing items like heavy coats or very high ticket gowns or similar are on hangars on a hanging rack in the same shed. But I have very few of these as most items can be bagged without damage. I usually hang only those items that would be crushed or damaged by folding, like a 3-piece suit, for example.
Thanks Inglewood.
Yeah, I’m beginning to think that DSLR or Mirrorless is the way to go.
@Inglewood What camera do you use?
Congrats indeed Vintage Treasures! What kind of doll was it?
Sam and Libby missed the cutoff, if you give me the numbers I’ll update the schedule, but you default on any win.
Spreadsheet updated. Winner this week: Vintage Lacy
Meh! Famous last words up there ^ methinks.
Listed 10 for the week.
Well, isn’t that one for red cheeks! π
@vintagetreasures Better hustle! I listed 10 items today!
(If it makes you feel any better, that’s all the listing I’ve done this week so far, but… TEN!) π
Insane seems to be a good word! π
How about Darwin, Dystopia, World Peace, Time Travel and Lottery?
Yeah, I’m toast!
I decided that I needed to just MOVE stuff, not stress so much about the photos. I was given a batch of NWT baby clothes, ASP about $10 plus shipping. Figured that I’d just whack ’em up using my phone camera in the eBay app and get them DONE!
It bothered me all morning!
Finally, I went back and fetched them out, redid the photos, and put them back up again. I just can’t cope with crappy photo quality.
It’s going to take me forever to get through my Death Piles at this rate. π At least they were baby clothes, so easy to do. And I did compromise a little, I just took front, back, label and any detail if relevant instead of the full 12 photos that I usually work to get. Still… wasted day…. sigh….
@Sam Welcome! Great to have you on board. You are in the spreadsheet!
@VintageLacy Thanks. LOL. What Christmas ornaments do you like? I was given a whole batch of Christmas stuff (it’s in my Death Piles) and have dozens of the not-so-vintage Hallmark Collection. Must get back to those… sigh…
@VintageTreasures My total listing for the year is less than Sam’s who only joined this week. I don’t think you’re in any danger! ROFL. Now that you’ve cleaned up your basement, post photos in the Death Pile thread so we can admire it.
@ChristineR I feel your pain. I’ve been working flat out…. but not on eBay. I’m hustling the heck out of my husband’s business, and I’m working on new costumes for our student showcase in June. I have to make two harem pants for ladies who had problems with their pants last year, half a dozen new backdrops (at 8 ft wide and 25 ft long each), new wardrobe items for the dozen new dancers, plus three costumes for me. I’ll post photos when I’m done – so! much! bling! Oh… and then there’s taxes…. I hate taxes. Strongly of a mind to just put in an extension request and do them after the showcase.Spreadsheet updated. Winner this week: Libby
