A few years ago I bought an ASUS Zenfone 2E at a yard sale for ten bucks. For my very limited purposes, it’s been OK. However, it has only 8GB storage, and I keep getting warnings about “storage space running out.” I did put an SD card in it (60GB), but discovered that most apps won’t work with the SD card, they need to be on the phone’s storage. There are some apps that were on when I bought it, and I can probably remove some of them. But…the point of all of this is….I’m thinking it may be time to bite the bullet and look for a new (or used) phone. Any suggestions? Especially as to amount of storage space?
I don’t really make many calls with the phone, it’s mostly for ebay, but I’d like to add apps like Mercari, etc…

8GB on the phone is nothing these days. iOS takes up more than 8GB just to turn the phone on. You should definitely delete all unnecessary apps and media.
But really, you can buy a very good phone that just a couple generations behind the latest and greatest for about $100.

Any of the Samsung Galaxy phones are good. My eBay phone is an S5 or S6. I would pay up and get a slightly newer one. The sim card slot in mine finally broke, but otherwise it still works after nearly 3.5 years. A good thing to do is find the phone that fits your price range and Google “<phone name> in 2019?” (yes, a year behind) and see if anyone can vouch for its usefulness still.
My current phone is an Honor 6X that I bought refurbished for $100. Not the best camera IMO, but it’s really fast and the battery life is absolutely amazing – probably 3 days max if I turned on battery saver and barely used it. With a full day’s workload the battery only ends up at around 60%. Storage is 32GB on-board memory and I think it can be expanded.
Phone shopping is surprisingly complicated. YouTube is a good resource, as is Reddit.

A year ago, I bought the iPhone 7 plus with 32 GB for about $310. I chose the model because Apple was still supporting the OS. I just had an update recently, so it is still supported. I take all my personal and eBay photos and videos on it. The 32 GB was just fine until recently, so I backed up the phone directly to my iMac, and then deleted a good portion to free up space. Another reason I chose the 7 plus is because it has an upgraded camera plus a second one for zooming.
The issue with the 7 plus is that it is one of the larger phones. I’m used to it now, but it really is too big for my hands.
I bought it on eBay and double-checked the seller’s ratings. I just checked, and the price has gone down. The cost is now about $240.
Anyway, that is what I have. Yes, it is more expensive, but I found the 5C just wasn’t taking good photos for me.

You can get an Iphone 6s or an iphone SE for less than $100 brand new quite regularly now.
Best Buy is doing the SE for $60
https://slickdeals.net/f/13814234-32gb-simple-mobile-apple-iphone-se-prepaid-smartphone-silver-60-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchYou can get a 6S all day long at Walmart for $100.
You definitely do not need an apple computer to use an iphone. You just download itunes to let you back up your data, or simply offload the photos to your desktop.
I love iphones because they are easy to use, highly intuitive, incredibly reliable, and upgrading is seamless.

I have an iPhone 7 (AT&T A1660 128 GB) that seems to work fine with my 9-year-old PC that I recently upgraded to Windows 10 (which I hate, BTW). I take all my item photos on the phone then upload them and list on the desktop. It takes great photos but it is sensitive to background colors so I have tan and forest green rug/cloth remnants that I use for background depending on the color of the item. I find that a white background always makes an item too dark but maybe I’m doing something wrong.
I bought it from a private seller two years ago. I was told to remind private sellers to make sure to remove the phone from their iCloud account before sending it out. Overall I’ve been very happy with it.

Here are Apple’s instructions on backing up an iPhone to the cloud or computer. It gives instructions for a PC using iTunes.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977If I were to backup using iCloud, I would need to pay for a subscription, which I’m not about to do.

Pixel 3A all the way! I’m a HUGE fan! No bloatware, customisable, incredible photos, Screen Call function is STANDARD. I freaking adore this phone
