A soldier survived mustard gas in battle, and then pepper spray by the police.
He’s now a seasoned veteran. To all veterans, including my dad and my husband, thank you for your service.
To all families of veterans, thank you for your sacrifices.
To everyone else, Happy Memorial Day.
ROFL, carbs! I like that! 😀
It made me chuckle to think this is the only thread where a “race to the bottom” is actually a GOOD thing!
Can’t help you with the golf stuff, but just wanted to say I love Lilu and Hops!
I spent a couple weeks organizing all my organizable (is so a word!) stuff into large, labelled boxes scavenged from the Home Depot. The boxes are huge – and full! Clothes sorted by type, bags, hats, linens, all sorted. It really helped me to see how much I actually have. When it’s scattered in different places, it’s easy to underestimate how much you’ve got.
Then I started listing the stuff that’s not so easy to organize, mostly the odds like home decor or automotive. It’s been fun seeing the shelves clear of piles of “stuff” and convert to tote bins of “listed items.” Very encouraging!
But my Death Piles have been growing due to my community donations. Spring is nearly over, so it’s likely to slow down soon. Once I’ve cleared the shelves, I am going to attack those boxes and set myself a challenge to do the lot by this year! I thought I’d post photos of progress, just to make it easier to track. My hubs is going to throw a party when I’m done! LOL
Two aerials meet on a roof – fall in love – get married. The ceremony was rubbish – but the reception was brilliant.
I said to the Gym instructor “Can you teach me to do the splits?”
He said, “How flexible are you?”

Couldn’t believe the prices some of them sold for. This one went within a day of listing. Sold for full price, got it for free from my community.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yakima-MAKO-Saddles-Part-No-4019-for-Kayak-Canoe-Mount-1-Pair-Fittings-Parts/182539443233Mine went cheap because there were no toys included, but it cost me a dollar at a thrift store and was quick and easy to list. PITA to ship, though! Took best offer of $8.50 plus shipping, but sold within a couple days of listing. The stats on these are high, so they’d be something I’d pick up again if I see any going cheap.

I’m on a whiskey diet. I’ve lost three days already.
Thanks Gompers.
My turnover is still fairly low, but when it picks up to the point where I’m doing parcels every day, I’ll go in and tolk to my PM. We are rural and I know they’re hurting to be able to show they cover “businesses” because there are so few businesses in town. Perhaps I can request scheduled pick ups based on volume when I have volume.
The idea to leave my parcels in the post box is not good. There’s no security there, it’s a row of boxes in the middle of nowhere on a main road. I’m just asking for my boxes to go walkabout.
Appreciate your quick response!
A three-legged dog walks into a saloon in the Old West. He slides up to the bar and announces: ‘I’m looking for the man who shot my paw.
So I went to the Chinese restaurant and this duck came up to me with a red rose and says “Your eyes sparkle like diamonds”. I said, “Waiter, I asked for a-ROMATIC duck”
Gompers, I don’t get mail delivery to my house. We collect our mail from a series of post boxes mounted on poles on the main road two miles away from us.
I’ve not managed to get a straight answer from an USPS employee on whether or not the Schedule a Pickup would work for me. Would you know?
05/23/2017 at 3:13 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 311: The Summer Slowdownâ„¢ is Here #18456Linda, I got a jacket back with a note to please refund to their credit card. I wrote to her via eBay asking her to please open a return case. All my sales are via PayPal, so I have no way to refund her credit card, and now the return time is up. I don’t know what to do either, but I don’t feel comfortable relisting until it’s resolved!

Thanks Lily210. Yup, sounds like you and I are paddling in the same canoe. My in-laws are the most disapproving, and my husband is just worried about the funds. I like your perspective though. I think I’m going to frame your quote, if you don’t mind, and keep it close!
It’s not the most glamous, but it’s my business and I own my own time
Jay, you’re right on the money that it’s the money. If I made enough, DH would stop fussing. He’s only worried about finances. I had a nice, safe $50k per year job. Now I’ve got expenses and loads of stuff, with no fixed income. List more, sell more, make more, happy husband. I’ll get there!
Re the family though, I did think of saying no, but considered it a case of win the battle, lose the war. It’s small change, maybe $30 a month. Not worth putting family in a tiff. YOu know how in-laws can sniff down their noses at you? Avoidance is a tactic! LOL. And I think I’ve figured out a solution for how to get rid of it. The words “capsule wardrobe” are key. 😉
Thanks to everyone for all your input. I was feeling peeved yesterday, but I’m back to myself today. I’m going to frame Lily210’s quote and put it up VERY BIG for the family to read, or me to point to, when necessary. Ha!
LOL. I did, Kate, not just brands, but items too. I kept it down to half a page so that it was short and sweet. Guess what I got? 😀
Yeah, the whole more money/reliable income is what’s driving the hubby’s concern. He has done his best to be supportive of me in practical terms, like building my light set up and putting my shelving up, but he can’t be supportive of what he doesn’t understand. He’s a company man, worked for the same crowd for 35 years, and his concept of entrepreneurship is zero. So he does his best.
ROFL. Yeah, housekeeping is not on the top of my priorities. If it’s clean enough, it’s good. I don’t live in a museum! But clean enough to me means e.g. a pile of dishes at the end of the day, washed and left to air dry, then put away in the morning. I wash dishes every day, kitchen is always clean before bed! But it drives the hubby bonkers. He reckons they should be washed, dried, and put away immediately after use. My response? “Go for it, babes. Clean drying towels in the drawer!” I have a stack of drying towels, so my once a week pile of laundry is not a problem – if you don’t count that it drives him crazy too! ROFL.
Sonia, you are my photography doppleganger! I felt like you were reading my diary!
My husband built this set up for me and I thought it would solve all my problems
It didn’t. But I discovered that I got much better photos when I moved the entire set up to the edge of the garage door (my “shop” is in my garage) from its spot facing the window. I thought facing the window was da bomb, but obviously not. However, I still had major problems. Then I stumbled across a solution that seemed too simple to be true. I have one of those clip on style desk lamps with LED bulbs. I clipped it onto my backdrop so that it shines down on the photo table. HUGE improvement! Go figure!
Since then, I’ve discovered a couple blogs where they’ve commented that installing some of those running LED lights above and around the workspace, kinda like those starlet movie mirrors, works wonders. Bit rich for my wallet and doesn’t suit my photography set up right now, but something to work towards!
One other tool in my kit that has really helped is the MS Picture Manager. I use the Color Enhancer tool and the Brightness and Contrast tool a lot. Sometimes just one or two tweaks and everything’s good.
Photography is still my biggest bugbear, but I’m listing a lot of stuff now with these two fixes (the LED lamp and MS Pic Mngr.)
