Came across a funny hiccup in the Death Pile Challenge – running out of storage for listed items! The Death Piles are sorted into giant cardboard boxes, but listed items are individually packed in plastic bags and stored in totes on large industrial shelves. Some frantic re-arranging of shelves to make space and I have a few more totes to go before I’m completely out of storage! LOL

#Listed: 59Was going great at the beginning of the week, listing my highest per day totals ever. Then I got sick and it got harder to stay upright, until on Friday I gave up entirely and went to bed for the weekend.
On the bright side, I exceeded my per week listing target of 50 items and caught up somewhat towards my goal for the month. My husband is going down to Corpus Christi this week to help family clean up after the hurricane, so I have another period of house to myself. Perhaps I can still make my goal of 500 listings by September.

#Listed this week: 26Horrible week of sales. The only reason my numbers are so high is because I sold two vintage Canon lenses for $225 and $125 respectively. And they’re on consignment, so it’s not even full profit.
Listing also took a major downturn as I handled a bunch of non-eBay related issues. I’ll have to list 78 items this week to get back on target. That’s a scary number for me, but I may just have a chance, as the hubs is going to be away for 3 days, so I can focus entirely on listing and not worry about anything else, as long as nothing happens on the ranch that requires my immediate attention.
ETA: Woohoo! Listed like crazy yesterday and hit 400 items. Now just have to list the 50 items for my goal this week and I’m back on track!
The long painting might have moved across to dimensional weighting. Here’s a handy calculator that might help you in future. It gives you the dim weight. Use the higher of the dim weight vs the actual weight in your shipping calculations.
Cool, thanks!

Items in store: 357
Sold: 13
Total sales: $427.36
Highest price sold: $225.45 (Vintage Canon FD Lens)
Average price sold: $32
Returns: 1 (Tie that was 0.5″ too wide. O.o?)
Refunds: 1 (John Deere plate that had my reflection in the main photo. Buyer claimed it was plain background, not a cool background like in the photo.)
Money spent on new inventory: $0 Been working on death piles
Items listed: 70Ever wonder “did I price that too low?” when something sells really fast? I wasn’t sure how to price the Canon lens and it sold immediately. My two return/refunds were less than $10. Mostly low-dollar sales, the lens took the average up.
I’ve been working on listing a minimum of 10 items per day. Almost made it, but life. I ended Friday with 350 listings and have decided that I must hit each Friday on a new “50”, which means I”ll make 500 listings on Friday Sep 1st. I’ve ordered a new, old camera that allows me to set manual white balance and also a 1:1 aspect ratio to produce a square photo. I’m hoping that it will reduce my photography time.
Regarding the issue about cancelling an order because the item is broken, I recently had an issue and I followed a suggestion from Suzanne A Wells. I contacted the buyer and offered them an alternate item up to the value of the item plus a bit extra for the inconvenience, or a refund. If the buyer accepted it, I would send it and upload the tracking number. If the buyer declines, I send the refund with reason “buyer cancelled.” The buyer accepts the cancellation and there’s no eBay ding on your side. In my case, the buyer requested a refund and I processed it. No default.
Suzanne A Wells says she concentrates on women’s clothing, and in her one store you can see over 200 women’s items, but only 4 men’s. However, I was amused to note that her men’s shirts have “boobs”. She’s obviously using her female mannequin.
Wow. She takes two minutes to photograph? I wish I could do that. She says 30 items per hour to photograph and 12 per hour to list. If I could do that, my store would
- explode!
I found out there’s a Reddit area where you can ask for signature identification. If you’re not in a hurry to sell, why not try posting the hat there?

I’ve decided that writing much more than Ryanne does in the description box is a waste of time. Buyers don’t read it now on mobile. I’ve also learned that your first photo had better be as accurate as possible, after the idiot who saw my reflection in the main photo didn’t like the “plain background”. I haven’t had quite as many issues as you, northernpinesgallery, but it has been a month for weird stuff.
I turn my used boxes inside out so that the outside is clean with no markings. Takes just a couple minutes and I don’t have to worry about the markings triggering odd post office shipping rules. Now I’ll add “customer stupidity” to my reasons. ๐
I had an odd return this week too. A buyer advised me that because the tie I’d labeled as 3″ wide was actually 3.5″ wide, he couldn’t use it. O.o? I accepted the return. Really not going to fight that one.
PRN stands for Performance Radio Network. I thought the signature at the top might be Doug Rice, but can’t find any copies to compare with it.
The one at the bottom right I thought might be Dale Earnhardt, but because the D is very compressed, I’m not sure if that is correct. Dale used to appear on PRN before he was killed.
Ooh, share a photo of your monster head? Or a link to a listing with it? Such fun! ๐
