eta @mycottage I don’t know much about Hawaii’s topography, (just what I’ve seen on the back of coffee cans, π ) however, I thought it was a lot more hilly. That seems more like TX, OK, etc as it seems really flat where they are. Maybe west of Appalachians and east of Rockies?
This is fun.eta AGAIN: I wonder that the car they are leaning against is the car that the guy they are chaperoning (in the suit) to the plane came in. A short limousine. The cars of the people who work there are going to be older models (early 50s parked in back of the frame). The important people will drive/be in later model cars. This IS PURE CONJECTURE ON MY PART.
Ok, so I sent the photo with the cars to my dad, however, just to ask him what era the cars were so you could at least get a ballpark of when they were taken. Dad, who not only lived through the eras but was a car guy and he sent this:
“Look like late 40’s or VERY early 50’s for the one on the right. The one they’re leaning on (and I can only tell from the window shapes and the rear window) would probably be mid 60’s. I wouldn’t bet a lot of money on that answer, but I’d go as high as a hundred.”
I was gonna say 40s, however, Dad popped in with late 60s possibly on a car so maybe Vietnam era.
I hope that helps get you started?

Was reading an article on a “Pencil Aficionado”. Still cant figure out how she affords a store front in NYC selling pencils, however, I digress…Thanks, MyCottage. I wasn’t sure if it was a hard fact because I would think they would advertise it if it were. Like, you pay more, you get more traffic.
Jay, free listings no but when you count the free listings and the free shipping stuff maybe it starts to make sense? Although ebays boxes and tape are a bit more expensive than if I just buy them I think.
Now, if they did bubble wrap I’d be sold on an anchor lol.
Thanks for responding.03/15/2017 at 12:03 am in reply to: Nan In The Beautiful BlueRidge Mountains of North Carolina #14508Hi Nan!
I was “slow to adopt” as R&J said last week but then I just sort of went for it. I suppose I really wanted to make sure I had my ducks in a row, so to speak and that it was viable and scalable for me. Listening to R&J gave me the confidence (I sound like a commercial) to just stop thinking about it and get to listing.
Everything I know I learned from them so you are definitely in the right place. I don’t spend as much time in the forums as I’d like to, however, they are loaded with info and everyone is so amazingly nice so don’t be afraid to ask questions!
I grew up in Asheville (in metro ATL now) and still have family there. I’m so lucky to be able to go back as often as I do.
Welcome to the trash elf life, Nan! Glad you’re here!
@julie B- I’m sure you want a more unusual type, however, if you are looking for the 70s wooden racks let me see if I still have the 3 I think I do. You’re a “neighbor” and a fellow trash elf so you can just have them and since we’re both in GA it won’t cost me hardly anything to send them. PM me if you want them! (and if I can find them, that is) π
You are both fantastic and I thank you so much!
Brill! Thank you!
This is the email chain from when I asked the guy that designed them to help me with keywords so you can see what I’m dealing with:
can you figure out better keywords to use for etsy? mine suck but i’m drawing blanks at what someone would search for. this is the most important thing and i am at a loss…
any ideas?xoxo

OKJESUSGODSee, that’s the thing. I might buy them off Archie McFee or Thinkgeek or something like that but it would have to be presented to me, if that makes sense. Like, I wouldn’t search for them. They’d just have to *be there*.
You put it on a normal food can and you can take it off and put it on another when you want to eat that food. They are removable and repositionable. Or, put it on a can and give it to someone as a gag gift. I have several in my pantry and write what the real food is on the bottom of the can.
I don’t think fake can labels *are* a thing, but now we have these so we’ll try to make the best of it. lol Weirdos like me that have frequent house guests and may enjoy giving them a giggle would buy these but who are “me”? I didn’t know that I wanted to give my house guests a giggle with a fake can label until they materialized. Actually, “Give your guests a giggle” is not bad…
These are all fantastic questions for me to simmer on and I really appreciate you asking them to get me started.

Great to meet you too and I’ll look for you on the ol’ insta and FB, Crystal.
Thanks jbrown!
Also, how did you get your location on your profile? I looked on my profile and don’t see a spot.Awww Ryanne that’s awesome. I’m *so* grateful you both have brought us all together.
Thanks! I don’t have any youtube just instagram and facebook which is shopvintagedelirium and vintagedelirium, respectively.
I’m a full-timer and have been for this 2 years. I used to piddle around antique markets but that was really just to socialize, I think. I never made any money after booth rentals lol.
I kind of HAD to start selling stuff because I’m a hunter/gatherer at heart but not really a collector. I used to work in wholesale sales for food to restaurants and would thrift on my lunch break. The barn was getting way too full and there was no sign of me stopping the hunt so here I am. Have a bit over 1000 in etsy and ebay combined and trying to double that this year (at least).
Tried to get my husband to list with me (he’s an engineer and has some lab equipment on his ebay store) but he’s just not into it which is fine but it would be great to have some help! It’s a bit annoying when he makes one sale in 6 months and it’s like, a thousand dollars tho hah. But then he has to spend, like, 4 hours palletizing it and waiting for a truck to pick it up so it’s probably a wash. He’ll say, “Sold a machine for 1200” and I’ll be like, “That’s what I made working all month blah.” π I would like that to happen MORE often though!
Know anyone that needs an enormous vacuum chamber, you let me know. We’ll give them the deal of the century π

When times get slow I always think of J&R and remember to just KEEP LISTING. This job really WILL pay off with hard work which I could never say working for other people.
When stuff is busy: yay! busy shipping!
When stuff is slow: Yay! more time to source and list!ETA: I’m originally from Asheville and live outside of Atlanta now. We kinda switched.
Also, remember when you would bust your ass for your boss? Do that for YOU and you’ll be FINE. Better, than fine, actually.-

Hi! Just subbed to your youtube! Always looking for more info so thanks for sharing!
J&R have been 95% the reason I’m in my 2nd year now. Their info and especially keep at it attitude has saved me from giving up. I mean, really WWJ&R Do? is my motto.
Glad you’re here! -
