Girrrrlllll, how do you work that many hours a week and still have time for ANYTHING?? lol
Nice to meet you and we’re glad you’re here!
Hi Jbrownfield! Love you shop! Favorited!
I wish I could afford to have you send those fireking mugs to my pal in the UK. She LOVES fireking but even when I send ONE cup to her it’s like $20… You have great stuff!12/17/2016 at 10:34 am in reply to: How to remove musty smell from upholstery fabric, without washing it? #8240I’ve had some clothes come out of a bin that didn’t smell so fresh lately and not having time to wash I’ve hung them up and sprayed vodka on them. Stoli, even. 🙂 But seriously, it worked. I don’t think you have to use Stoli. Although, the hobo voddy my mother is partial to seems like it would stink the clothes up more lol.
Agree with everyone else, though, hanging in the sun is the best way to get rid of stank when you have the time to do it. Things actually smell BETTER than you can even imagine possible.
Agree with Jay, tags are supes important. Think of it like, if you were looking for this thing, how would you word it? You get 13 (under 20 characters) so fill them up!
I’m seeing a quantity thing just like on ebay, too. My sales went up as I listed more. Also, love that the fees are lower on Etsy.
Also, the buyers *seem* to be a little more, I dunno how to say it, not as angry? Or they don’t just assume we’re trying to rip them off, if that makes sense.5 sales IS great! Please link your store so we can all favorite it!
@HABNAB you are all awesome for trying and thank you! i actually found an exact copy, however, it was a cached image on googleimage and had no other info. I’ll just price it REALLY HIGH with best offer, lol.

I think it may be a clock pendulum. Thanks for looking for me!
FLim! I think of you every time I see any fish shaped plates. 🙂
Thanks for the favorites Paperly!
And SUPER thanks for the photography posts!I was just doing what you suggested by going to Marmalead and going through my etsy listings and putting the item first in the title and tweaking my tags. I haven’t gotten that far (to lesson 4) on Marmalead so hopefully that will help with writing tags because I am crap at that! Thanks for that suggestion, btw. That may be the most helpful thing I’ve ever read. 🙂
I am scared that this new forum may be too fun. I’ve got some death piles, ya know. And more will become death piles because I’ll be on the forum all the damn time. 🙂
@trunkfullofjunk I love those too but I get mine at costco for $8.
My favorite are the ziplock weather tights but they are PRICY. The ziplocks I use for wool items.I store a lot in my barn which is basically a sieve. I’ve found that any of the other totes besides the two above, the clothes start to smell after a few months and I have to rewash them. I’m slowly transferring everything to the big black and yellow bins. They seal fine and aren’t as expensive as the ziplocks.
I keep a spreadsheet with what is in every bin. I just fill as I go. I do separate shoes, clothes and “stuff”, though. And books.
My numbering has gotten wonky so I’ve started naming bins things like Annabelle, Sam, Archie, etc. I’ve finally hit over 1000 things so we built proper shelves in our barn to hold my “ideal” bin that I’d like to transfer everything to in time.
Favorited all y’all ’cause I love your stuff! I have just started to list more stuff on etsy (i’ve been buying forever) and i’ve really seen a difference. I only have a bit over 100 things but I seem to sell more high-end stuff there consistently. And it’s less expensive, for sure.
I would LOVE to read your photography notes Ms. Paperly! I have a small setup in my mudroom with 2 100w cfl lights (cowboy set up) but i’m having a bear of a time lighting larger areas for modeled clothes. Perhaps I need to get more lights… It’s such a small space I have been dreading that.
My vintage store Vintage Delirium
A store I started with my comic/designer and somewhat imbalanced friend: Industrial Foods Products
and finally, my home grown tea store: Forsyth Tea CoWhat were you and Ryanne doing in Atlanta!?! Next time ya’ll are around we’d love to make you dinner or or meet you wherever you are and buy you a beer. You’re responsible for most of my scavenging success. You’re 100% responsible for me sticking with it and not getting down about slow times.
I’d love if Cumming would get rid of the chicken plants out and make it tourist friendly but I don’t see that happening. I’d run for city council but I hate managing other people. And I’m too grumpy. We moved here because it was the only place we could find an “old” house (1930s farmhouse) for (well) under 200k. Our house was what most would consider a tear down at the time but we slowly (and still are 13 years later) re did it. We also bought almost an exact replica down the road and use it for a rental house. I’d love to AirBnB it but there isn’t anything good about the area. I thought about ripping out all the plumbing and electricity and making it a “real” 1930s experience. Outhouse and everything. I think the wifi issue would turn (me) off, though. Some reasonable part of me talked me out of it.
It was a favorite of the Native people before (and probably after) European settlers. They call it the “Black Drink”. To be terribly honest, I have *no* idea why we haven’t become more reliant on it. It grows exceptionally well in the south. This is pure speculation with absolutely *NO* anthropological training on my part, however, perhaps the large influx of Europeans brought their own tea with them and had no use for it. Again, probably nonsense…
I am a caffeine addict and because we don’t grow *any* caffeinated things on the mainland, (and Hawaiian Blue Mountain coffee is so limited) I’m thrilled to know that if trade routes were suddenly disrupted that my neighbors and I can still have caffeine! I mean, there’s always red bull… ick. Also, great for bartering! I will admit that we had a bit of a head start as my in laws have a tree farm in north GA (they don’t grow these) but my husband is pretty arborially knowledgeable because of this.
I can totally send out a couple tea bags to anyone who wants (for free) until I can’t prune anymore for the year. The bags cost me next to nothing and I’ll mail it in an envelope with brewing instructions. If you have your own tea ball I can send a bit more as I don’t have to use (or make) the little bags. The 50% discount would be for the “big” bag that makes about 20-30 cups. Just pm me and I’ll harvest and roast. Takes about 4 days in all.
Maybe you’ll like it so much you’ll plant your own, which I highly recommend!
Ok, you can all see my coffee (it’s still my fave) kicked in. Sorry for the tome.
TL;DR Free little bags of tea for any Trash Elf.

Hi Chris! We come from the same kind of stock. I’ve been a “treasure hunter” since I was a kid, too. It’s so much more fun than my old day job, slinging wholesale food to restaurants. No more 7pm “my stuff wasn’t on the truck and I need it for dinner service tonight” calls. I’m a lot less stressed out, for sure. 🙂
Thanks, Ryanne.
