Hey Sonia,
eBay issued a refund to the buyer on their half, not mine. Meaning, they credited the customer and I did not have to refund them anything. They refunded them the full cost unfortunately. I am out on the return shipping, but I still get to keep the money from the sale. However, I am still net positive in the sale and I can resell the item again after I clean it up and re-photograph it. I reported the buyer and the eBay rep reported the buyer as well. Unfortunately, since eBay credited the buyer, I don’t think this will stop/change their behavior going forward. I am thankful eBay backed me in this situation. This is the first time I have had to deal with something like this.
Hey Jay,
Thanks for the prompt reply! I ended up calling back again to eBay and spoke to another rep. They saw the messages I had sent to the buyer (they were all professional and non-confrontational) and ended up opening and closing a case in my favor on the phone. They issued the refund to the buyer and I didn’t have to do anything. I have a perfect track record with eBay and I am a TRS, so I think this may have helped.
I also think it’s crazy that I can get one answer from a representative and a completed different from another. This situation has happened a few times over the past year with eBay.
I will be able to sell the item again, but I will have to re-photograph it because of the new signs of wear unfortunately.
Thank you every for the advice and help! I ended up getting the vero violation removed, however I cannot re-list the product again on eBay. Here’s what happened:
1. I reached out to the company or service (Red Points) Lokai uses to find resellers like me. Their email address was in the vero violation claim for the contact information of Lokai. I asked them why they submitted the claim and if they would be willing to retract it. They sent an email back to me asking to see proof of the purchase.
2. I submitted the receipts that I had, but my claim was rejected, because the bracelets were not purchased from an authorized seller.
3. I called eBay 3-4 times asking if they would remove the violation, explaining that the merchandise was authentic, but it was acquired unconventionally. I also explained that I would not sell these again. This got me no where and was just a waste of time.
4. I made the same plea with Red Points (the service Lokai uses), I asked if they would retract their complaint if I agreed to not sell these items again. I got no response from the company, they simply ignored me.
5. Finally, I made the same plea with eBay. I emailed the vero team at vero@ebay.com. I explained my situation: how I came into possession of the items, that Lokai bullies resellers out of the market, and that Lokai has no burden of proof that my item is indeed fake. And eBay actually removed the vero violation strike on my account! Note: it took 4 business days for the vero team to respond to my email.
I am surprised with the outcome, I expected to just take the strike and move on. I learned a couple valuable lessons here: be more conscious of vero brands and be extra careful when selling large quantities of brand new items.
I had a large quantity of them, the listing was worth close to $400 for me.
At this point, I am more concerned about receiving the vero and how it will affect me going forward.
