The original shipping cost whether paid by buyer or seller will be the return shipping cost. I have seen this on my end on the ebay itemized bill when the item was shipped back because of INAD cases.
The original postage paid is what will be charged for return shipping. I have seen buyers return a first class item in a box to me that weighs well over a pound. The label just says postage paid on it. I dont think it will be an issue.
No restocking fee and seller paid return shipping means buyers will be more apt to return an item for buyers remorse. I dont believe more scammers will come out of the woodwork, we will just see more returns, and eat more cost. I use the restocking fee to deter buyers from utilizing my 30 day return policy. I sell approx 200-300 items a month, mostly clothing. I already have a 5% return rate. I am adding a small handling fee of 25-50 cents to every sale to offset the cost of the free returns. I have already added this to my 2nd store and it doesnt even show on the buyers end they will be charged. It can only be done with calculated shipping and it is lumped into the calculated shipping price. Ebay makes the rules, we just need to get creative and roll with the punches.

As long as the item is under 4 pounds it can ship first class no matter the content. Ebay better get the glitch fixed soon. I changed all my international listings to priority yesterday. I am super annoyed it was unnecessary.

11/30/2017 at 11:42 am in reply to: How does your employee list for you?? What is their process? #27733Also I originally started training by having her do a scheduled listing and then go in an out of each specific to add brand, size, measurements, condition, color, and weight. But this seemed to take too long and was confusing for her or she would forget one of these. Now I just have her put all the info in the title. This way she only has to access the photo and title portion of the listing.

I agree I dont want to waste precious time (and money) teaching keywords or the ins and outs of the ever complicated shipping methods. I am just trying to have her do the bare minimum so I can complete the rest on my laptop. I can do this method I am teaching her in 3 minutes and this is not the method I have ever used. It is taking her 8 minutes. I am hoping repetition will cut that down. I agree that the mobile app is a little slow to load which can be annoying. What do you mean by starting on the laptop first and then take pictures?
I always give the buyer a choice. I write “I can offer you a partial refund of XX dollar if you would like to keep the item or a refund less shipping and restocking fees if you would like to ship it back. Please let me know how you would like to proceed” However for fit reasons they will never take the partial refund. They just cant use it…
Skydog, I did a search for your jeans using the keywords ROCK REPUBLIC JEANS then went to the side bar into the item specifics and entered in the size and inseam. Your jeans did not come up because you have extra words in your items specifics “38 (39 actual measurement)” and “30 (31actual)” If you use/add anything other than what options ebay offers in item specifics your listing will not pull up when the buyer uses item specifics rather than search title. You could create your own item specific and say “measures 39×31” if you want to avoid a buyer claiming not as described for it not fitting. Ebay told me buyers are not required to read the description however they are required to read all item specifics. Hopefully this makes sense!

11/06/2017 at 2:50 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 333: The Illusion of Keeping Up With Everything #25157Regarding waiting 7 days to leave negative feedback, this is true. This just happened to me last week. I will copy and paste what the buyer said. Crazy buyer lied about return reason saying shirt was defective then admitting it didnt fit right. I called ebay, they sided with me for buyers remorse. She did end up leaving her “nasty” feedback which of course was removed. I think it is a cool off period having to wait 7 days.
Oct 28The buyer sent you a message
MessageNo need to be argumentative and rude. The bottom line is you offer returns, therefore I will be returning the item at my expense. You will deduct the restocking fee and that’s fine but you will refund me the original shipping as I am the one that paid for it. If you do not, I will report you to ebay and give a “nasty” review. Enough said…if you want to be in retail sales, you need to learn that you do not argue with the customers..period. I will wait the 7 required days from ebay before I can post a negative review in which you will receive from me. Good day.Tina F
Thanks for the advice. I’m feeling a little more confident about it. 🙂
I’m seriously considering upgrading to an anchor store. I only have 2040 listings currently but am curious if upgrading to the top level will boost me in search ranking?? Thoughts anyone?
There should be a hologram sticker on the backside or behind the material tab.
Several years ago when I first started, my account was suspended for a month for a counterfeit listing.(fake purse I didnt know was fake) I could sell what was currently listed but couldnt make any new listings. They advised I file an appeal which I did and it was denied. You could try the appeal process which may work for you. How long is your suspension? You can continue listing and place save those listings as drafts or scheduled listings so when the suspension is removed you can hit the ground running with those saved listings…
