Yep, sales on unique items may not work. If there is a small number of potential buyers, the sale probably isn’t a motivating factor.
We have run sales periodically, and we usually get a bit of a boost in sales, but it isn’t huge. Like all things that are discussed (sales, promoted listings, free shipping, free returns, EGD, etc.), no one item is going to give a huge boost in sales. If it did, everyone would do it all the time.
Each item may run 2%-5% increase in sales if THAT item was a factor in buying decisions to most buyers. If the item is unique, price may not be a consideration (provided your pricing is solid), so sales or promoted listings may not help.
Wal-Mart doesn’t advertise and run promotions like the BMW dealership does…
I would talk with your local postmaster. That should not be a reason to say that. They have to drop off packages at your porch, correct?
We use plastic totes as well so that the packages stay dry and out of snow/rain. Our porch is covered, but extra protection, plus easy for them to haul to the truck.
Now that is some free money arbitrage!
LOL!
PS – Get to registration EARLY! Last year was a bit of a clusterxxxx, so I’m hoping that they have it worked out.
But hope isn’t a strategy…
Sounds great!
Dress to be warm (conferences are cold), and dress in comfortable walking shoes (will probably be a loooong walk around everything.
Make a list of what you want to get out of the conference and keep referring to it.
Talk to a lot of sellers, asking what they sell, how they sell, how they list, how they ship, etc. Very interesting!
Lots of food and drink is planned for Tues – Thurs. You won’t need to pay for anything.
Get coffee at the conference! No coffee makers in the rooms, so only Starbucks (everywhere) so you have to pay. We are going early and staying late…and I’m bringing my Keurig for the room…as well as the NutriNinja for Margaritas in the room… 🙂
Look for them to have an app for your phone so that you can see all the times, breakout groups, etc. and where everything is. I used ours a lot.
Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday Night is a blast! Get there early…
As for meeting up, shoot me an email at TSATTERF@YAHOO.COM. Then we can swap messages and phone numbers for when to meet and how to recognize each other.
I look forward to meeting you!
I did a listing from Seller Hub, and the Variations section is right under Store Categories in the top section of the listing.
This is an area we are looking to move into. Trying to solve two issues:
1) Sourcing more efficiently (and as much as possible, from anywhere)
2) Sourcing items with higher ASP, but still with at least a 3X ROIWhen we get back from eBay Open, this is one of three major projects I want to conquer.
bcfol440: Did you just Google your area to find this liquidations in your area?
Welcome! How much do you list each week? Just a few when you can or do you hit it hard each week?
Funny. When I go hunting, I have spotty service in the valleys, but when I get to the ridgetops I sometimes get service. While I love the sound of a sale…not when I’m trying to be quiet while hunting!
I always have to make sure to turn off the sound before I leave camp, but then I still get the jumps when the phone buzzes when service reconnects. Gets me every time!
We have had mixed success with Russia. Some fine, others not so much. In fact, we went to GPS after the last Russia issue.
If it is low dollar and you are OK if they go missing and you have to refund, fine.
Higher dollar…I would pass.
Thanks for this. Reordered some supplies…
Interesting Mike. My guess is that the plug-ins for WonderLister or SixBit won’t be ready yet, so they are asking to minimize the “noise”. I’ll have to talk with SB at eBay Open on this for their take…
Retro: Amen! I’m the same way. Now, if I get something, I want to have it last forever…
Stuff doesn’t do it for me…
LOL!
MMVI: solid numbers. How easy is it going to be to source 200 items in one week?
