Ok, I’m going to have to put this movie on my list. Never did see Idiocracy…
Love that movie! So relevant, and so quotable…
“I noticed that you have been missing a lot of work lately.”
“Well…I wouldn’t say that I’d been missing it.”
We are about to cross a barrier soon to, from Premium to Anchor.
I’m somewhat looking forward to it. Then every listing is like it is free. Flat subscription and list all we want!
Yep…Listing fees should never be a barrier.
If it is, either the thinking or the pricing is wrong…
Yeah, that is our thought, just have some folks to hangout with, have a drink, and talk about life, reselling or not.
Yeah, all possible.
The weird part is they made the offer yesterday, then pays this morning. Then after they pay, they cancel. Why wait, then pay, then in 5 minutes cancel?
Just weird…
I thought I had figured out a PayPal scam in this that fit the scenario, but when I called eBay and walked them through it, they said that it can’t work. They tie all refunds to the original PayPal account that was used on the sale, so my thought wasn’t it.
Well done Jay!
Lauren, I will second what Julie B said.
No, you don’t have to do anything to declare you are self employed (though I would check with your state on what you need to do to collect and remit sales tax for your state).
A couple of clarifications: the $20k line for when PayPal sends out a 1099 is based on total collections (what you received in your PayPal for the item and shipping).
You would only pay taxes on your net profit. So the total money you received LESS the cost of the items, your shipping, cost, your fees, any supplies, etc.
My advice? If you are still hooked up as a student, go talk to your accounting department professors. usually the accounting students do free tax returns for people as part of their class schedule (I know I did). You can probably get free advice there.
I’m putting on my jealous face… ๐
MoCoyotes: You always amaze me with your low COGS. Always less than $1 per item! That is like getting it for free!
Geoff: yep, it’s coming along! Gonna be interesting to see how we look this time next year….
Wow, so sorry Retro! I wish I could do more to help than just send you some prayers.
I would rather lose a limb than see my kids that sick…
Retro: Yep.
Plus, I think their sales are dropping because if it as well.
Look, $1-$2 isn’t killer on shirts or jeans, but when $7 for jeans becomes $15 (and shoppers are seeing the increase due to the name brand), then shoppers say (why pay $15 when I can pay $7). Some will pay up, but a lot won’t. Plus, they then have more that they have to send to the bins.
the killer is when they want $25 for a suit, and a low end suit at that….
ctebay: Yep. 100% agree…
I second this part Jay. This is what happened with my current consulting gig…
Worth it to be back, but on YOUR terms…and paid by the hour… ๐
