I just had to refund a buyer for the same reason as your Dansko-Sanitas. But the shoes I sold were Havanna Joe Clogs made in Spain. The buyer sent me photos of a bunch of chunks of the soles.
Well, I sent it out. I never got any notifications to my email from my post here, so I didn’t think there were any responses. So I’m just now seeing these.
I tried calling the guy and left him a message and never heard back.
So when I sent it out, I included a letter in the package so he would know why I was calling.
He then sent me a message and offered to send me an extra $8. He also told me that he is a Petty collector himself and is collecting all his programs from that decade.
I told him in a message back, not to bother. And thanked him for getting back to me.
I felt so much better knowing it wasn’t that valuable of an item.
Whenever things sell a moment or two after listing, I always assume I must have made a mistake.
So, it’s all good. Thank you for your replies. You guys are so kind to take the time to respond.06/01/2018 at 11:19 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 362: Scavengers Are Always Prepared To Clean Out A Basement #41483I tried to hit the thumbs up symbol. But it doesn’t appear to be working. Thank you for your responses.
Greetings Jeff. I look forward to hearing more about your business.
When I have an issue that I need help with, I send Ebay for business a personal message through Facebook. I feel like they understand better than speaking to someone on Ebay’s phone support lines. It can take a few hours up to a day to get a reply, but I still get my issue resolved, and I have it in writing.
05/31/2018 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 362: Scavengers Are Always Prepared To Clean Out A Basement #41410Thank you for the podcast. I always am excited to listen to each one as they come out. I’ve been listening from the beginning, and even though you guys don’t know me, I feel like I know you. 🙂
June will be my five year anniversary of selling on eBay as a business.
This is the first time, I’ve really lost my ambition. I don’t know if its the weather, or all the recent eBay changes. But I’ve lost the excitement about scavenging. And I don’t feel like taking photos or listing. I guess it’s just five year burn-out. I sure hope my ambition and excitement come back. Has this happened to you guys? How have you come back? I guess, I just have to treat it like a job for now.Anyway, here are my numbers from last week.

Number of items listed this week: 24How long is it before eBay will close a return when the buyer never ships the item back?
I have a return that is over 5 days now. I’d love to not have to get it back, but I don’t really want to remind my buyer either in hopes that he forgets to send it back.
Sometimes a buyer will find someone else who can use the item and will close the return because of that. I’m hoping that is what happened in this case of too small boots.I tried waking up my store by adding best offer to my 500 most expensive items. I took lots of offers and countered many others. It seemed to increase my sales. I had my first Poshmark sale this week. I only have about 4 items over there so far, but am going to be listing more as I found it to be quite easy.
I also have been ending my GTC listings every day and selling similar to try to increase their rankings and tweak the listings (photos and title). I put them on 30 day, but may go back to GTC next month. I just felt like they were stale and needed to be refreshed.Date: May 13-19

05/14/2018 at 7:19 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 360: Is Diversification a Myth or Reality? #39916Hmmm. My post is gone. I don’t know why that happens to me so much.
Anyhoo. I don’t think it is bad to diversify as long as you’re meeting your goals on your primary site. I have a tiny bit of diversification by having my items on Bonanza (just started) Addoway (one sale in four years lol), 4 items on etsy, and one item on Poshmark.
So far only eBay is working for me. But Poshmark is getting quite popular.

I’ve used Auctiva as a third party eBay platform, but just to keep track of my items beyond 90 days. I can go all the way back and see what I sold in 2007. It’s cheap and works for me.
SueJust getting here to post my numbers. It was a very discouraging week with sales that tanked. I haven’t started my business policies yet. I tried once, got scared off, and backed out. Maybe I’ll try again.

Number of items listed this week: 42Wondering about adding a handling fee to cover any “free” returns. Does that fee just show up in the buying price or is it part of the shipping fee? Where can a buyer see the handling fee?
Oh! that’s good. I was just going by what they said at the dropbox site.
The pink warning line said I needed Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer.-

Number of items listed this week: 27I enjoyed the podcast(s) this week. I’ve lost photos on drafts before. It’s always frustrating. I wonder if you open them and close them again without changing them if it will reindex them and give you another thirty days.
Marjean posted about hiring a VA. I’m interested in hiring my daughter who lives in another state. I’m still not sure how to go about it. I’d like to have her make up the listings from my photos. But I don’t know how to get the photos to her. I use apple products and she uses a pc. I’d also like to get someone else to do my photography. But for now, it’s me.
I’ve been getting caught up on my backlog of inventory and not doing any sourcing. I want to be all caught up before rummage sales start. -
