I ran into someone trying to sell the branded small poly bags at a yard sale in Michigan last summer-lady claimed they sent the wrong bags. She wanted retail prices for the bags, so I moved on, guessing that since she sold stuff on ebay and I wouldn’t find any deals. I would have bought the bags if they were 70% off, or so.
Yeah, I would also buy the tape, and any winter/Christmas themed stuff. It should sell quickly.
I have more trouble selling the smaller sizes (men’s 6 or less) than the larger. But you are correct-all sizes sell eventually. For larger sizes of anything, I usually tack on an extra couple of $$ for price and a couple $$ for shipping. Fewer big sizes are made, therefore, fewer are in the waste stream. The big guys spend more for clothing (jeans for ex.) when it is new, so it shouldn’t scare anyone away.
Thrifts anywhere near a big city with professional sports, esp. basketball and football, will get a good number of 15+ shoes, sometimes in nearly new condition. Many of the players do not have to pay for shoes, so they do not value them.
A couple of years ago, my son found a monster shearling coat at GW. There was a receipt in the pocket from a merchant purchase. The name on the receipt was a recently retired NBA player for the local team. He was about 6’10 tall. The coat took forever to sell, but it did sell!
My percentage of new items is about 5%. ALWAYS stuff still with tags at thrifts or yard sales. Wish I could find more!
As far as ebay dropping non-new sales: I listen to Griff and Lee quite a bit. Whenever a caller slams ebay for favoring buyers over sellers Griff nearly always hammers home how much ebay spends to bring new buyers to the site, because that is what makes the sales come in. IMHO, there aren’t many sites that have as many one of items, vintage and otherwise, than ebay. In fact, ebay may be unique and that attracts many people. Seems like ebay would want to keep us around for that reason alone.
There are “fake”, or generic Legos out there. I found out the hard way. My first lot sold, and the buyer (nice guy, BTW) informed me that about 1/2 were not real Legos (he was right!). He told me real Legos are ALL stamped Lego-each little piece. I worked out a partial credit with him.
I sell a couple of bags a year. I usually take out 2-3 random fistfulls, and check for the Lego stamp instead of examining every piece. If they are OK, the entire lot is most likely OK. I then explain my Lego ID process along with the following “I am not a Lego collector, and know very little. But call me with questions before you buy.”

Thanks.I found some WWII era National Geographic mags and took pix of individual ads (many showed military themes and pix of tanks, airplanes, fighting men, etc.). Tried selling those for a year: at $10 an ad. No luck. I thought they would make interesting framed art. I still have the magazines (about 20) and may try selling them one at a time. Death pile, currently.
I had planned on sandwiching the ad between 2 pieces of double wall cardboard and shipping in an envelope.
Better ideas are welcome….

Number of items listed this week: 34Highest priced item was a professional model baseball glove, purchased for $8 (flea mkt), sold for $110 in 3 days. BOLO for all-leather ball gloves in great condition-try to pay less than $5. My average sale is around $35 or so, but there are some nice home runs out there (PUN, sorry). ALWAYS check ebay before buying, since many gloves are only worth $10-$20. Use the brand name (Rawlings, etc.) and the model number which is stamped on the glove in large print. Not much money in kids models, so I avoid those. I only find really nice gloves 1-2 a month, but buy all I find.
My fall sales FINALLY picked up this last week. Last couple of weeks of Sept. and first day of October were really slow. Hope we have turned the corner, as I would like to trim my inventory down to about 250 by late November.
Only my second “last week’s sales” post-please let me know if I have missed anything.
I live in Greenwood, and would also like to meet sometime. Driving north is not a problem. I will keep checking here to see if there is still interest, since most posts are over 6 mo. old.
If you have exposed 2×4 walls (like on the unfinished side of a basement or inside a shed/garage) use some nails (12-16 p). Use black marker above each nail, and organize by M or W, black, brown, other, and size (36, 40, etc. M, Small, Med. etc. W). You should be able to put 3-5 belts on each nail, which is a small enough number to allow easy id by sight, plus, you can “fan” them out easily.
BTW, there is also a large jump between 8 oz and 9 oz. I have changed packing material to keep at 8 oz.
