Trash to Cash. A podcast about making a living on eBay.
It’s hard to see the detail, but if it is made of individual stitches on a canvas, that is needlepoint. Needlepoint is a form of embroidery, but embroidery is usually done on a fabric with floss. Needlepoint is done on an open-weave canvas and generally covers the canvas from edge to edge. Tapestry is usually done on a loom.
Okay. If I bought a jewelry item for $10, I would probably list it at $28.44 with free shipping. I generally multiply by 2.2 so that I have a little cushion to offer discounts and run sales and still double my money. Then I add $4.09, which covers first class shipping and materials. (If this number comes out to more than $500, I add $2.60 for signature confirmation). Then I multiply by 1.09 to cover selling costs and insurance (more or less).
But that’s just if I paid the max that I wanted to pay. The trick of our business is if you have a real gem and figuring out the true market value. 😉
Thanks. It doesn’t open. It is marked and tested 14K, so probably a little high end for Things Remembered.
Yes, I still sell only on Etsy. I really feel supported as a seller there. I do free shipping on all jewelry, because it’s really easy to build into the price. I also offer free shipping on every order over $35.
Without giving away too many secrets, I have developed a formula for buying jewelry that works very well. 🙂
