yeah that’s a tough one. i certainly tend to take some of those minor damages personally, but in the last four years i’ve come to expect ruined, stained, torn linens as normal. it just happens. and they’re relatively cheap to replace. you don’t want to shame your guest, and honestly, you want them to come back!
i’ve become an expert on cleaning stains too, so, as a scavenger, i try to save as many linens as possible from becoming rags or donations. (ask me about specific stains, i’ll try to help you figure it out!)
we have never left bad feedback for guests, even the 2 (yes only 2 out of hundreds) guests who legit damaged items and we asked to get compensated for replacements.
yeah we bought an amplifi mesh network–
not cheap, but they work like a dream. bought one for our house too, so all buildings have full wifi bars, it’s great.
can you post to an example of a Raw, unused postage listing? i’ve seen stamps cut off of envelopes and sold, but my impression was that you’re not allowed to paste a stamp like that back on an envelope? thanks, i’m always looking for cheaper Forever stamps.
and the reason we use white cotton is, yes it’s the industry standard for high end hotels, but it also shows very obviously that you have clean sheets and towels.
no marks? it’s clean, or that’s a good assumption by a guest.ever stayed in an airbnb with black or maroon towels and wash cloths? yuck! how do i know this is clean, this could have 100 people’s old mascara on it and i wouldn’t know.
ever stayed in an airbnb with white towels that had stains all over them anyway? yuck! i have, it was horrible.i take my laundry very seriously, it’s the most intimate part of someones stay and it better be clean.

love hansgrohe! they are very very sturdy and high end and will last forever. now that is something i consider quality (willing to pay for) vs buying something cheaper that will last like 5 years.
all white sheets and towels. all cotton.
i am guilty of having a couple cotton poly blends in rotation in light grey right now ( i had them, they are working fine for now), but most everything else is cotton and white.i don’t bleach, i use oxyclean, mostly because we have a septic and doing that much laundry and using bleach might be harmful to the septic bacteria. and bleach is nasty stuff.
HOWEVER (there is always an exception), i will use bleach if there is a stain that just won’t come out any other way, or if my towels turned pink by accident (we have a couple dark maroon duvet covers).
i get stains out using vinegar (rust), hydrogen peroxide (blood), and dawn dish soap) greasy marks. makeup or self tanning lotions can be removed by some oxy clean mixed w water to a paste and applied and scrubbed with a toothbrush, then you can soak in dawn (i just put it right on the spot) overnight. i’ve saved so many white towels this way.
we like to use Ikea, we just don’t want every piece to come from there, because it gets obvious that you just went to ikea and bought the whole house worth (we’ve stayed at places like that, feels like they just didn’t think about anything).
we like to mix it up with pieces we find at estate sales, auctions, ikea, craigslist, etc. since renovations take us a while, we have time to gather and it makes a nice mix.
i think its fine to use Ikea beds and then upgrade as you find nicer ones. we’ve done that several times. we just re-sell on craigslist which is great.
ah that’s a very good observation! it would seem to other sellers that that would be an offer, but it’s an offer to buy not to sell.
yeah i love that podcast too, but it was just a time commitment thing. too much going on, maybe one day we’ll pick it back up. i think your airstream might do well on all of those platforms. we’re on all of those and 99% of our bookings come from Airbnb, but will be different for everyone.
had someone we used to know well (and who owes us a bunch of money that we will never see) contact me about a TV on craigslist, said he’d buy it. i ignored the email.
i still have the tv sitting here, no buyers. so who is the jerk, him or me? not sure.sent like 20 offers today (not sure why they allow that many for me at once) and sold 2 t-shirts. alright!
so glad they are offering that now. makes me want to get a dispenser, even though they can get pricey.
yep i think this rolled out yesterday, i noticed it this morning as well. now if only i’d get some bites on those offers!
also if they are in a rural area of the country, it might be easy for a local post master to know where this person lives.
i also read on the ebay subreddit that it’s on hold. i guess they got a lot of pushback.
