Has anyone else noticed the screen after listing an item on mobile that offers you a personal link to your item? If you use this link to self-advertise and someone buys your item from that link you WILL NOT be charged final value fees.
That’s a pretty big deal.
I do not have twitter or instagram, but it did make me consider it briefly.
08/28/2018 at 9:57 am in reply to: Question on the Hassle Free returns and Supporting Photos on a Return #48090Ugh…I’m dealing with an INAD right now with a buyer who is simply too lazy to set up the item to work with their software. There is nothing wrong with my item.
I’ll have to add some additional info to the listing when I get it back to “idiot proof” my sale and explain my item is only guaranteed to work out of the box with a certain software and no others. This was a $150 sale with $24 shipping costs…so I’m out almost $50.
08/28/2018 at 9:17 am in reply to: Where Is The "Ship From" Option On The New Shipping Page?! #48089I’ve encountered this before with a local post office because I ship near where I work – not where I live. Mobile has never had the option to change ship from or ship date and I used to use mobile to print labels.
They haven’t said anything to me in a long time, but I figure I’ll check this out anyways to make sure the right zip code is in there.
In reality, this should be a moot point. They are already doing the acceptance scan…why isn’t that the record of what post office processed the package?? You trust the customer to put in the zip code of the post office they are dropping the package off at? I didn’t think it mattered what local PO I dropped at until the post master asked me to put his zip code in.
This is why the PO loses money…..
$19.95 shipping for 10 polymailers? This folks is why we still pay fees on our shipping costs…
Oh and no worries on the lack of podcast this week. You all deserve a week off here and there even if you weren’t sick.
Get well soon!

Average sales price $28.84Felt like the week was on ebay cruise control as we had a lot going on. We started Homeschool back up and all of our kids were in the WV Cupcake Festival pageant. 3 out of 4 won their age divisions! The 4th should have won, in my entirely unbiased opinion. 😉 Now they get to do a bunch of parades over the next year.
I listed a bunch of shoes this weekend – 40 pair! It never ceases to amaze me at how plentiful used shoes are in my little corner of the world. It is soooo hard to pass on a good deal for shoes. I bought 10 pair at a single yard sale on Saturday. I have become a lot more picky about what I buy in regards to brand, condition and price. And yet, I think I buy MORE shoes now with all my added conditions. I even broke my cost rule yesterday and paid the bloated Guuci Goodwill price of $16 for one pair. Why? Because they were a pair of rare vintage Nike Basketball shoes in near mint condition. Did you know Scottie Pippen had his own signature shoe? I didn’t until yesterday. Search “Nike Air Pippen” and you’ll see why I happily paid $16.
08/23/2018 at 3:53 pm in reply to: Promoted Listings can now be done via the listing as you list… #47895I haven’t added any items to promoted listings in over 2 months. My sales have improved without it. The fact that promoted listings is available directly in drafts discourages me even more from continuing with promoted listings.
As Syndrome says in the Incredibles, “when every listing is super, none of them will be.”
Once I noticed some of my searches only had two results (the single listing plus the “promoted” copy), the program lost some of its luster. I did a lot of test searches on my own items to find that the promoted copy listing was routinely appearing just above my regular listing. So folks who would have found my listing anyway were being steered into clicking on the promoted listing instead, thus costing me 10% or more in extra fees.
I just ran a search on one of my oldest items and the normal listing doesn’t even show up in search – only the promoted listing shows up. So no matter how the buyer finds my item I’m going to get charged the promoted fee.

Here’s a Lee denim blazer that has been sitting idle in my store for almost 2 years.
I hope you have better luck than I have. I thought for sure that sweet denim blazer would have sold by now.
I’m always intrigued at the idea that folks sell their old home movies. I’ve bought several old camcorders with tapes in them and always wait with baited breath to see what’s on them.
Off the top of my head:
1. A guy who filmed a hot air balloon festival launch.
2. A family who recorded a lot of video of their dogs.
3. A teenager who filmed himself talking while bored and taping music videos off the tv. (this one was hilarious!)08/22/2018 at 3:50 pm in reply to: New login page for Ebay – Sign in with your username OR Facebook #47861That’s too bad. I put something in my cart hoping the seller would lower their price.
The expiring drafts issue has been around for a while. Don’t let them sit or you will lose them!
I don’t think I’ve hit a limit on how many drafts I can have, but only a certain amount will show up in the app if you take photos in the app. If your item you want to list doesn’t show in the app, you need to open the draft on the desktop site and save it again. That will bump it to the top of the list and let it show in the app.
My assumption is that they are wearing them. A lot of people like the feel of running shoes just for everyday wear. These shoes are over $100 new. The casual wearers who don’t plan on logging 20 miles a day running are happy to pay $40 for a lightly used pair.
Nike is no longer the “cool” shoe it seems to me. Brooks, Asics, Adidas, even Under Armour are the “in” shoes right now. Sales of my Nike shoes are pretty slow as well.
I used to us a laser printer with airprint direct from my iphone. It worked well.
My old home router had the ability to plug in any usb printer to the router to turn it into an airprint printer, but I never used that feature because my printer already was airprint. In the end I no longer print from the app. You can’t print international labels or GSP from app so you still need a desktop label printing solution. I have a dedicated laptop at my shipping area with a Dymo 400 turbo plugged into it. Doesn’t get much faster than that.
08/20/2018 at 4:12 pm in reply to: Selling a heavy set of Sansui speakers – better to part them out? #47752I had a set of floor speakers over a year ago that had rotted foam on the large woofers – I don’t remember the brand/model. I parted the speakers out for MORE than I could have sold a completely working set of speakers. I parted out everything – even the port tubes.
I think in total I made over $200.
