This is the one I ordered:
It looks like some of the bubble wrap I occasionally scavenge from our receiving department at work. The stuff I get at work similar to this is SUPER tough and resists popping much more than the junk big bubble stuff I usually buy.
That’s a great deal for the 24″ wide! I ordered 3 rolls and put in a cancel request for the big bubble wrap I ordered at amazon. Too bad they were sold out of the small bubble.
I also ordered some of the unfilled bubble wrap to tinker with. You can fill it yourself with a hand pump instead of using the expensive machine.
If you think this is sticker shock, wait until you go to buy bubble wrap again. I just put in my order and prices are up on the order of 25-30%!
Since August 11 (my last thrift trip before I got sick) I’ve made scavenging purchases 10 times for a total of 60 items.
My first thrift trip out after recovering was on 10/31 and my last of the year was 12/29.
The most I bought on 1 trip was 11 items. There are multiple trips where I went in and didn’t buy anything since I’m only looking for high dollar and fast turnaround items.
So 30 items a month (about 7 a week) coming in. I suspect that trend will continue through winter and spring.
I still have my sourcing calculator that I am reimplementing and included on my numbers this week. Based on my scavenging/listing habits from last week, I can source 17 items this week. Will I? Nope. I probably won’t go to a thrift store this week. We’re staying home as much as possible right now due to covid being everywhere.

I hemmed and hawed over this and one other paintball marker for months. I looked for local CO2 suppliers. Kept telling myself I’d eventually go to Dick’s sporting goods and get supplies to test them. Then if they needed work I’d have to research how to fix air leaks and stuff.
Then this weekend I just punted and listed them as-is with a disclaimer that buyer should anticipate it needs work. Sold one of the markers within 24 hours for $168.
What would I have gotten if I went through the effort of test/fixing it – maybe $30-50 more.
LOL! Normally I wait until 2 days before the tax deadline so this year is a major improvement for me.

Sourcing Allotment 16What has 2 thumbs and already did all their taxes bookkeeping? This guy! I was aided in the fact that I did the first half of the year back in July, and that I was prepared for the godaddy audit since I went through the painful process already last year. The big 2 issues are duplicate data from paypal and my business credit card feeding bad categorization data to godaddy. Now I just have to wait for my W2 and other personal tax documents to come in so I can wrap things up. I’m looking forward to that hefty child tax credit.
I had some huge sales this past week. The current week is also off to a great start as I had a whopping $534 in sales yesterday.
As stated in my new years goals post, my plan is to average at least 40 new listings a week this year in order to really put a dent in my (neatly organized) death pile. I wrapped up my no work December and hit the ground running this weekend with 43 listings. I also have 34 listings created awaiting photos for this week.
This week my goal is to do an inventory consolidation in my storage shed to make some room for more stuff. I pull all the nearly empty totes and move those items to other partially empty totes. Then I bring in the empty totes to fill with newly listed inventory. It lets me do a partial audit on my inventory as well as keep things neat n tidy. It’s a good mental boost to see the empty totes rather than just pile new inventory on top of the old.
I average 30 a week. Yes, it is a lot. I wanted to have enough stuff so I could list full time for over 6+months and double my listed inventory if I lost my job without spending a dime on new inventory or supplies.
I accomplished that goal…and then never lost my job. What a conundrum!
at one point I was very close to quitting and this backlog would have been put to use, but instead talked my way into creating a new position that Makes me very professionally fulfilled (and more money).
the 40 I want to average should be pretty easy with my daughter helping. We did 30 today. I listed and she photographed.
I still won’t get everything listed this year, but listing 500 more items than I sell is a start to reducing the backlog.
I have some room in my main building. I am due an inventory consolidation as well to make more room. So I have room right now to put About 75% of the stuff I permantly want out of the garage. Most of garage stuff will just stay on the existing shelves they are currently on. The other 25% of stuff will eventually move out as stuff sells to make room.

the permanent storage I have can hold about 5000 items. So yeah, I have about 3500 unlisted items.
Yes all high quality. All organized and stored in the place it will go when it is listed. I’ve always pre-researched anything I’ve bought. No box lots here.
I’ve drastically cut back my scavenging – pretty much only buy $50+ profit items. Never buy clothes anymore and few shoes due to my $50 profit limit.
It’s really not a great idea to 100% stop scavenging because I would miss out on items like this:

that is an item I got on a yard sale day this summer when I was telling my wife I shouldn’t be scavenging. We saw a yard sale next to Walmart and she said I should look. I bought a large lot of manga books there. Paid $100 and have it all listed for several THOUSAND dollars.
So i have to allow myself to at least look for new items but be very picky. I have to list anything new I buy immediately. I have to only buy high profit quick selling things. I also like to collect my mileage for tax purposes. My mileage offsets $4k in sales – don’t want to lose out on that!
I already have a 12×20 building outfitted with shelving, modular shelving carts, sealed wardrobes, and two lofts that houses all of my 1500 listed items plus some unlisted stuff.
I have a 14’ v nose enclosed trailer that I fully outfitted with shelving. It is full of UNLISTED inventory already organized into tubs.
in the garage I have 2 built shelving units for listed inventory (full of unlisted stuff) and 8 shelving carts on wheels ( also full of unlisted stuff).I have all the inventory infrastructure (and unlisted inventory) I need for the size of business I want. Just gotta list the stuff now.
the storage unit would be temporary so I could deal with the unlisted stuff in the garage without it being in my face.
either way I have to deal with the garage stuff first.Sounds like you might have some downtime to maybe do a podcast. Just sayin… 😀
Yep, my thought process in these cases is “thank you for sparing me a headache problem buyer after I ship.”
I have no problem at all cancelling and delisting.
The one I finished up yesterday was red matter. It was awesome.
We do have beat saber which everyone loves.
I’ve had to build up my VR endurance for the big challenge: resident evil 4.enjoyed playing that in ps2 many years ago. Can’t wait to do it in vr.
I’m also gonna get the ping pong game. Reviews say it is as close to the real thing as it gets.
