FYI, Millenials are taking up Camping in a big way. Stuff like this will keep going up in value.
I’ve been doing about 25-30% on average.
I also know off a dollar to change the first digit of the offer.
So if the original price is $39.99 I’ll send an offer for $29.
$29 seems more appealing that $30. I’m willing to lose a dollar to secure a sale. What would be nice is if Fed Ex would partner with Ebay since they are soon free of Amazon.
I’m sure amazon was paying dirt cheap for highly expedited service. They could probably double their price and double the delivery time and ebay sellers would be happy.
My high dollar sale was that Nirvana album, which I really didn’t want to let go but priced high where I would let it go.
That’s the name of the game in my life now. I’ve lost all sentimentality for material things.
A couple months ago I sold my two prize arcade games – Paperboy (very rare) and Tron (demand far out paces supply, so somewhat rare). I always said I would never sell them, but I put “i can buy another one later” prices on them and waited. Sold both for premium dollars even in unrestored condition.Everything is for sale except my family for the right price.
I TOTALLY feel the same way about feeling like an adult, Ryanne! I’m 37 (I think…I don’t pay attention anymore) and I’m just now starting to be mentally aware of being an adult in work situations. Is that a product of our latch key upbringing in the 80’s/90’s I wonder, or is this just the way things are for everyone?
I’m trying to raise my children to be aware that they don’t have to wait until they are “adults” to follow their dreams. They can absolutely do it now. Oh to be a child with the vast amount of connectivity and information that is available today…
I’ve went through all the orphan brands and haven’t seen anything like it.
I suppose it is possible it is some after market hub cap.
I sent an email to that guy. Hopefully he can help me.
I wonder, what is the point of smart post now?
I haven’t used it in a long time. Usually it costs MORE than FedEx ground which makes no sense.

New Listings 71SUMMER GOAL:
Week Goal Actual Difference
6/10/2019 $875.00 $411.00 -$464.00Not a great start to my summer goal. I did get alot of items listed though so that should help going forward. This week I have a stack of VHS and combo dvd/vhs players I will get listed. Those typically don’t take long to sell and should boost my numbers.
I knew this was going to be a tough goal that I may not meet, but I’m gonna push myself hard to make up ground. If I hit a couple home runs this month I’m right back in it.
Scavenging was fun again saturday at the yard sales. The highlight was a 1974 Schwinn Voyageur Road Bike. It’s in excellent condition. I brought it to work today so our resident bike expert could give it a once over, and possibly recommend me a local buyer in his biking circle so I don’t have to list it.
Have a great week everyone!
I would totally list those one at a time. It is worth the effort. They are SUPER easy to list/ship.
start every one as an auction starting at $24.99 and list 20 or so a week.06/07/2019 at 8:27 am in reply to: Buyer opened an ebay return case AND a PayPal not as described case #63081Tough luck for them. Ebay will require them to print a label and return the item. Paypal will also require them to return the item. Neither place will require you to mail the buyer a label. If they don’t return the item then both places will eventually close the case.
I had a buyer try to pull this once. I politely told them they could always use their local library.
In the end that is exactly what they did.
I LOOOOVE yard sales.
It is a great way to practice your negotiation skills and also great to expand your knowledge.
Julie, I challenge you to do yard sales tomorrow and do a few exercises:
1. Low ball an offer. Bonus points for the higher the price tag is. It doesn’t even matter what the item is. Pick something out you are on the fence about that is priced $5-10. Then without emotion, ask the seller if they’ll take a buck. Make it a statement rather than a question. Say “I will give you a dollar for this.” Note: I regularly offer $1 on $5 items and get them for $1. This past weekend I got a $10 item for $1.
2. Instead of doing a drive by of a bad yard sale, get out say hello, walk through, say thank you, and leave. These yard sales you know you don’t want anything make it much easier to be able to walk away empty handed, and also makes it easier to perform exercises #1 & 3, so try them out occasionally too on your way out.
3. Make a firm offer and walk away if they balk. Bonus points if you combine this with #1. Try this one a few ways. Make a firm offer, if they counter then look the item over real good. Take your time looking it over – at least 30 seconds. Silence can be a great negotiation tactic. After a good once over, restate your original offer. If they don’t take it then just walk away.
Another way to do this exercise is to make an offer and walk away without a delay if they counter. Find another item and make a firm offer again. You’ll have primed the seller to know you are stating a firm price.
These skills are applicable in other areas of your life and are important to cultivate. It develops condifence, negotiating skills, and people skills.
And remember this – you aren’t being sleazy doing any of these things! Get that thought out of your head! It is simply not true.
Awesome deal!
The completely removed the condition field on mobile app. Why would they do that???
I have a paid membership with Everlance. It works decent. It isn’t perfect by any means but better than having to remember to turn the app on every time I drive.
At one point last year I went like 3 months without opening the app. Near the end of the year I spent a couple hours categorizing every single trip I drove for three months. If I didn’t pay for the app I would have lost several thousand dollars in deductions.
Being able to forget about mileage for 3 months? That is worth the $5 a month fee.
The problem with non-business expenses is that Godaddy hides them in the app. Grrr…
Why? I have no idea.
I like to upload my receipt images and I have to download the images to my computer and do it there.
