I haven’t read all of the comments yet so I don’t know if anyone recommended a show on Netflix called “Blue Gold”. It’s all about a man who buys and sells jeans and he travels a lot to Japan to auction them off. So I am not surprised that someone from Japan bought the jacket.
I love making homemade lotions with cocoa butter. I also make face cleanser/makeup remover with mineral oil, beeswax, and water. So much better to use natural ingredients.
I like The Thrifting Board. It’s run by Jason T Smith. He also has a channel on you tube and has a couple of shows a week. You might want to check him out.
Neither. When I get a low offer, they usually write me a story on how the item is only worth $1 but they will give $5 because they bought one just like it at a garage sale for a low price. I usually sit on the offer because I think the offer pushes the item higher in searches and someone either buys at full price or just simply makes a better offer. This has happened to me before. Don’t sweat it! You have three choices: ignore the offer, counteroffer, or decline. It’s just a part of the business!
03/28/2017 at 3:14 pm in reply to: What are your go to box sizes that you always have on hand. #15496You might want to try a 12x6x6 size box or 18x6x6 depending on the length. You can get the 12x6x6 through ebay.
It was nice meetup today….it’s great to connect with fellow trash elves. Thanks Grace, Michelle, and Grant for coming. I will set another meetup in the next few months.
Fred, if you’re planning on moving to Indianapolis, I would suggest that you live somewhere close to 465. It’s so easy to jump on and go anywhere to thrift. I live on the SE side of town because it was less expensive to buy a house than other areas and easier to jump on 465 and 69. Once you’re on the highway, it easy to get around. Basically you can circle Indianapolis in about 45 minutes on 465 (except during morning and evening rush hours). Good luck! If you need any help, let me know. I have lived here about 15 years and know the city pretty well.
What’s sales day in Fort Wayne?
Yes, see everyone on Thursday! We are meeting at 10 am at Panera Bread in Noblesville, address 17177 Mercantile Blvd in Noblesville.
This is awesome…I’m excited to meet everyone!
So, we are meeting on Feb 16th which is next week. Let’s meet at 10 am so we don’t have to drive in rush hour traffic. I thought we could meet at Panera Bread in Noblesville on hwy 37. There are several Goodwills, a Salvation Army, and St Vincent de Paul relatively close by. The address is 17177 Mercantile Blvd, Noblesville. Panera is located in a strip center and faces hwy 37.
Is this ok with everyone?
Tentative date for meet up is Feb 16th in the am. Any suggestions on time and place to meet? We probably need to meet up closer on the north side of Indianapolis since most of us are closer to the north side. I’m flexible.
I hear ya, Thrifted Sister! Some days are good, some are rough. The good days get me through the rough times and I have more good days than not.
Hi Sam…nice to meet you. I wouldn’t mind setting up another meet up but I am busy with listing for the next couple of weeks. I am listing consignment items for my sister and I’m putting my head down to get the majority of items listed.
I am flexible so Tuesdays or Thursdays are good for me. Maybe Feb 16th?
I have a Shark that came with a pad to hang over a door to make it easier to steam. I also have a dryer with a “freshen up” cycle that takes out the wrinkles…I just have to hang up the item right away. And yes, make sure that you only use distilled water in your steamer.
I once stored a ton of hats in one bin. When one sold, I had to look at almost every hat to find the right one. Now, I put listed hats in different totes to avoid the issue!
I source free boxes whenever and wherever I can but I also have purchased boxes on hand also. If you look at Resources at the top of the page, Ryanne gives a list of her shipping and packing options (I think there are links also). You can use her resources to do some comparison shopping. I purchase the majority of my items from Valuemailers on ebay, most of the time their prices are comparable to other sellers.
For clothing over a pound (and if it fits), I use the free mailers from USPS.
When I first started, shipping was a little confusing at first. But as I sold items, it got a lot easier. You’ll be fine!
Definitely not English…Handwriting looks like my mother-in-law’s and she was born and grew up in Germany.
