There are plenty of folks making silver in Mexico, no reason to think it is not silver. Like many things name can be big, so when it comes to waiting for the right buyer to pay multiple x over silver value for the intrinsic value of craftsmanship… I find it can take a while when it comes to just normal silver out of Mexico.
Not to mention cost of going to work. Car, maintenance, clothes, haircuts…. it’s a slippery slope
Funny though, that’s actually what insurance is supposed to be. A network of people sharing the costs, nothing more.
I agree – i think that is a pretty nice set.
By definition Sterling Silver is 92.5% silver, the remaining 7.5% copper or some other metal. So if it says Sterling you typically know it is 92.5%. Some items, less frequently, could be 99% silver – but normally this would be marked as such (not just ‘sterling’)
Yes a silver tester is a must have if your into this kind of thing. Personally, I don’t normally test to verify something that says sterling is indeed silver unless i have a specific reason to be suspicious. I do find things that are silver that are not marked clearly as such fairly normally — often times for example an older piece may have the marked worn off or something.
Also – might as well have the gold tester. Believe it or not you do find gold where it was not previously identified – for example a custom made gold ring in a lot at an estate sale or something — completely happens and is not far fetched.

Here where i live there are HUGE difference between auctions in different towns, and different nights. Some auctions will have tons of stuff for pennies, other auctions have people sometimes bidding up to even close to retail. So far in my journeys the two biggest things are: 1) avoid the bar as i am not there for socializing 2) wait for your pitch. It takes a strong man or woman to not bid that extra bid when the crowd has gone overboard at a particular auction. There is always more stuff to source.
One thing that drives me nuts are the phone bidders at some auctions. Waiting for an auctioneer to summons a bidder on the phone he knows wants an item is super frustrating. It should be mandatory that a person has a presence at the auction.
I also require of myself that i have actually previewed an auction prior to bidding in person on site. Sometimes big items will be “for parts” yet that may not be as clear as it could be to the general populace, and i find it helpful to objectively look at value prior to the action. If you have done your homework it will not be intimidating when the action starts and things move fast. I know what i will pay, and in the auction i am just thinking about when i want to enter the bid and watching the room.
I suppose for some who have a lot more experience all of the preparation may not be necessary, but this kind of approach seems to work ok so far for me.

I did run my first (legitimate) variant listing the other day — which i like a lot. Hopefully Ebay continues to build it out.
the last thing i can think of is an Iphone upgrade. Sometimes if you update a software and have another software running on an older version things can go out of wack. I would just make sure your iphone is at the latest as well
I would bet it has more value to woman who actually are going to their best friends wedding or having to do with wedding events in real life, not the movie. Sometimes weddings are planned out for months or even years and people may be into mugs that say ‘my best friends wedding’ who may not even have seen the movie (or scary enough may be too young to even know Julia Roberts!!)
I see wedding type mugs 9-15
I have not experienced a problem with the Ebay Ap. Has the ap itself had any updates and if so is your phone set up to allow that to happen? I use Android but the version of my ap is 5.17.1.1 — i think the Iphone version of the ap should be the same.

To me seems like a great way to sell lower dollar albums. Nick, I’m confused, is EBay preventing you from making another simular listing? I see plenty of sellers selling this way.

Interesting. Question: EBay says they charge you the fee if a user clicks on their ad implying that no fee would be charged if the ad is not clicked on i assume. Do you ever have sales on items that are promoted however their is no fee charged? My question is based on that it is possible that a buyer still purchases independently of the promoted listing and i am curious if Ebay keeps that square.
02/05/2018 at 10:21 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 346: Frank Discussions. Gewgaws. Storage. #32236My wife is Latina. She taught me that when one woman thinks another is wearing kinda trashy clothes (or just otherwise low brow in charecter I guess) the term “rakataka” can be used to describe their general makeup.
For whatever reason it caught on with me and is part of my regular lexicon now. When I bring something home and it is not the most classy item I tell her it’s a bit rakataka and it buys me a little good grace and a couple of weeks of garage space for the said item.
