That is good news. So, Etsy is selling at 60% of ebay STR for you. That is better than my projection of 55%. I would be very happy with 60%.

Lukastreasure,
Yes, I am looking forward to when I just have to cross-list new items. But as you can see, I am trying to cross-list 8,295 cross lists. That will take me over a year at my set routine of about 135 a week. I am just keeping the end game in mind. If this will double my sales as I have projected, it will be worth it.
Has Etsy been doing about 50% of ebay’s STR for you?
Mark
Here is that Youtubers experiment from about 1 year ago.
Go to 15:35 to see the final numbers for each platform.
However, results may vary because we all sell different items. This was one of the few experiments of this kind that I could quickly find.

Total Items In ebay Store: 4713
Total Items In Etsy Store: 106
ebay Items Sold: 14
Etsy Items Sold: 0Gross Sales: $658.10 (including eBay fees, shipping, and taxes)
Net Sales: $556.39 (minus eBay fees, shipping, and taxes)
Highest Price Sold: $ 100 (Jacket)
Average Price Sold: $ 39.74
Money Spent on New Inventory: $ 28.62Number of items listed: 21
Gut Sales Report for the week: Sales ended up being better than I thought they were. Real slow week for this time of year for me.
Focus for the week : Many concurrent things going – trying to get my 1800 vintage listings on Etsy, I have only 106 listed on Etsy in the last week so far. Trying to enter all my items that I have bought. I need to find a new photographer.
Scavenge of the week: I was looking at some really old books I found last week. Some are really amazing like a 1800’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in Very Good Condition. I love looking at the old things like that. I know they are longer tail, but very interesting to me. At least they should fetch a good price and I paid nearly nothing for them.
Thoughts for the week: I am hoping to double my sales by also getting listed on Etsy, Poshmark, and FB in that order. However, not liking the time commitment. It takes about 2 min each for Etsy because I am using a tag generator and making my own tags. Hope that helps a lot.
This is how I see my projected breakdown if I can cross-list everything as of right now:
ebay 4713 About $3000\month – This is currently what I am doing on ebay.
Etsy 1833 Has about .55X str of ebay, so sales should be about $652\month (only 106 currently listed)
Posh 1997.5 Has about 1X str of ebay, so sales should be about $1290\month
FB 4465 Has about .5X str of ebay, so sales should be about $1441\month
Total Projected Additional $3383 per month, which is a little more than what I am currently doing on ebay.
The projected STR for Etsy is based on what I have heard a lot of sellers reporting. That is why I am starting with Etsy – I have more data on that projection.
Posh comes from a youtuber who did an experiment and actually sold more shoes and clothes on Poshmark than ebay in 6 months time with same items at same price.
Facebook is also based off the same youtuber who did an experiment for 6 months. She had more sales on FB than ebay, but I think FB will be more dependent on exatcly what you sell, so I am being conservative with 50% STR of that on ebay.
Of course, this is just my estimate. Results will vary by exactly what I am selling versus what others are reporting. If you have numbers of your own related to this, let me know. That would help with my projections.

Zach,
It is not a year for Etsy. It may take up to a year to get all the listings I want on all the sites. It only only takes a min or less to cross post, but I have nearly 5000 listings and not much time. That is why it may take a year to get on Etsy (1800 listings), Poshmark (2000 listings), and Facebook (4500 listings).
Mark
Zach,
During my research I found that Sixbit supports only these sites:
https://www.sixbitsoftware.com/EN/Site_Differences.htm
Looks like it is 4 – ebay, etsy, amazon, and Shopify.
It doesn’t have these other 3 that I would like:
Mercari
Facebook Marketplace
PoshmarkLP is only $70 a month for the highest functionality plan. It supports about a dozen sites in case I want to expand further.
Mark
Yes, I have figured out how to list all my items on every selling platform. However, I have not had the time to do it.
For List Perfectly, you have to copy all the items you want listed to LP first, then list them to the platform you want. This will ensure that LP has the reference number (item number for ebay) for each platform. Then when an item sells, you mark it as sold and it gets delisted on every platform where it is listed.
So far, I have copied all of my 1800 vintage items to LP. My next step is to list them on Etsy. I would expect to gross about about $700-$800 per month on Etsy per average month. I have about 2000 clothes and shoes to list on Poshmark. Then I would list nearly all 4700 on Facebook.
In the end, I would hope to double my current sales from doing all this. However, this will take probably most of 2023 since I have very limited time.

Gut Sales Report for the week: Sales were much better this week. Shipping was annoying, so I know I am doing well.
Focus for the week : Trying to enter all my items that I have bought. I still haven’t been able to do that for the about 175 items I bought at one place last week. I need to find a new photographer.
Scavenge of the week: I went to an estate sale with very old items. And by old I mean some went back to nearly the Civil War. I rarely see items this old in Michigan. I love going to these sales because you just never know what you will find. It happens that the lady lived so long (I am guessing late 90’s based on what I saw) that she outlived her whole family and had no one. So, you left you house to her neighbor that cared for her in her old age. Here is a short list of the more interesting thing I found at the house:
A 1936 Monopoly game that was in very good condition for $6.
A Vintage Fordson Tracker Metal Tool Box in excellent condition.
A 1868 Flute hard cover book in good condition.
A working Stained Glass Rooster Lamp – awesome looking.A History of the Civil War Book from 1912 in near perfect condition – this should sell in the $150-$200 range.
Also, they were giving away wood hangers. I found two from Detroit General Motors Building in excellent condition – will ask around $60.
I also picked up a very nice Pendleton Sports Jacket for $8 at the thrift store.
Thoughts for the week: In my experience, the estate sales start to fade out in early December. Oh, you still find the sales, but not very good ones. So, I will use that time to process all the great items I have found lately, and there are many.
Mark
Lukastreasure,
Yes, that is why if I find a really good item I will hold on to it as opposed to setting down in the hold area.
Mark
Craig rex,
This was probably one of my best lifetime scavenges!
The estate sales these days almost make it impossible for me to attend – 10AM – 4PM Thurs-Sat. Hey, I work a full-time job during the day, I can’t make those times.
This is very overwhelming to get processed. I was just able to organize everything into the proper containers. Now the long process to get it listed. I just lost my photographer, so that makes it even more difficult. I have been looking for a new photographer, but no hits yet, I will have to keep looking.

In about 9 years of doing this I have not been in this situation before. I got stuck at a rummage sale in October, but was able to find someone running the sale to help.
I guess I need to get more iKea bags and go with pen and paper.
Hey, but what a great problem to have. I see sales like this a lot, but they don’t have this quality of items. This sale had quantity, quality, and a company willing to wheel and deal. That equals picker paradise.
I asked my family how one guy could own about 100 pairs of shoes. My teenage daughters had a theory – he was a mass murderer and only murdered guys with a shoe size of 12-13 and collected their shoes.
Sales were slow, so won’t waste time with that.
I went to an epic sale on Saturday that turned into an adventure.
I ended up there on Saturday for the last day of a 3 day sale. The estate sale company was trying to get rid of everything, and there was tonage. I thought I had come prepared with 3 large Ikea bags.
It was fill a small bag for $5. Ok, game on.
I filled up 1 Ikea bag in the upstairs area and put it in the hold area. I went downstairs and started going through some really nice clothes in big boxes. I gathered 2 overflowing Ikea bags worth of clothes and some shoes.
Then I noticed all the great pairs of shoes in large boxes. Lots of people rummaging thru items, but no one seemed too interested in the great pairs of shoes. I got 3 huge boxes of shoes. Each had about 20 pair of mostly size 12-13 Mens athletic and causual shoes.
But now I had 3 huge boxes and 2 overflowing Ikea bags. Way more than I could carry in one trip. I could only carry 1 huge box at a time.
Another guy left his pile and couldn’t find it when he came back in about 5 min. I didn’t want that to happen to me. But what was I to do? Everytime I started to look at something, people would start going through my stuff. People were respectful and not purposely getting into your stuff, but there was just so much stuff and no way to tag what was yours.
There was no one from the sale downstairs to help. I had nothing to put a sign on my stuff. I couldn’t call my wife, because she was in a Saturday class. I was stuck. So, I called my photographer who wasn’t very far away. He came to the sale and stood guard while I carried it all up. That was a life saver! I got it all for $200.
Then, I figured I may have missed some things. So, I went back in and realized I missed the garage. I went there filled a large trash bag full of clothes. Lady said $20. I went back into the basement and filled a large trash bag full of clothes and shoes. Lady said $20. I just barely fit it all in my car.
So, $240 total. I estimate that there are about 75 pairs of shoes that will list for an average of about $40. About 100 pieces of mostly athletic clothing that will list for an average of $35.
So, that is about $6,500 worth of items, but I won’t know for sure till I go through all of it.
I am still sore, but what a great feeling of accomplishment.

I recently found a new shipping trick that I wanted to share.
I have been noticing that UPS seems to be much cheaper than Fedex this year for larger bulkier items and those items getting shipping across the country. The problem was that the UPS store is fairly far from my house and most of the time the savings wasn’t worth the driving time\gas.
However, I just found a CVS Store ups access point right near my house. You just go to the CVS store during normal store hours and they can scan it for you and send you an electronic receipt. This is great. A small shipping game changer for me.

Here is a question for you etsy sellers. Do you always add tags for your listings? How many tags do you usually add?
I am in the process of listing over 1800 listings to etsy. Not sure how much time I should spend on tags. It would appear that they are important because etsy takes these into account for search placement.
Maybe I should just get all 1800+ listings up on etsy, then go back later and add tags as I have time. But, I am already going to be touching each listing to get it there initially, so it may be a better use of time to do it now.
But, I know Etsy uses other factors such as price, feedback for seller, and location in comparison to the buyer.
I am just wondering if you have noticed much better sales when you have spent more time on your tags and if you can quantify that.
Mark
Christine,
Yes, I found that buyers wanted cheap items on Mercari while doing my research. Also, Mercari only allow 40 character titles (I believe) and their buyer base is about 1\10 that of ebay. For those reasons, I will cross list there later.
