Last week my grad school son was home for his last ever spring break. We had a great time biking, craft beering and just talking. He relayed a conversation that would interest this group. He was with a bunch of friends and they were talking about buying and someone says, “No on buys on Ebay anymore.”
Being a good son he pointed out that his mom sold on Ebay. Then added that electronics(not my area) are often a good buy. Pointed out that he had bought his last computer on Ebay. Probably didn’t point out that I had done the ground work showing that Ebay was a better deal than A. HmmmmCongrats on 400. I am so glad there are 400, lots of motivation
Most exciting item was an order for 7 pairs of clip on glasses in size xs. Why? Possibly a play? Anyway I made $42
I’ve misplaced too many items. I’m currently starting with my oldest item and 1 by 1, finding them and noting in the bottom of the listing a code showing me where they are. It’s helped, but it takes SO long. Currently about 20% done. Anything I can’t find in less than 5 minutes is moved off of active. Also found a major flaw in a pair of shoes. Noted it and dropped the price 70%

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0Expect my items-in-store # to go down. I’m going through everything item by item and pulling items that are not worth storage space or packing time. I’m about to delete a set of Garfield glasses that I had no nibbles on. At the reduced price of $6 it’s not worth packing for a profit of a few bucks.

Returns: 1I found a gorgeous pair of driving shoes by Robert Zur a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t surprised when they sold very quickly for $60. And I sure needed the sale. The shoes were too big and the customer returned them immediately. They arrived today. I went to refund and the return still has them in transit. Relisted them while I wait for the USPS to catch up with the facts. The day after finding the first pair of Zur I found a 2nd pair at the bins, totally overlooked. The 3rd day I made a lowball offer on a 3rd pair and got them. Now if they would just fit the people who buy them
The last several weeks have been emotional roller coasters as my mom had several serious setbacks and some amazing recoveries. Enjoying her sweet content company while we have her. In the meantime I’ve reverted to that simplest of goals-have more listed at the end of the week than you did before.

My customer who did not open a case, but wants a return, has probably hit the point of no return. He is now well over 30 days and I do not have the glasses back. I had directed him to open an Ebay return. He didn’t. I’ve told him to call Ebay. As far as I can tell he hasn’t. He insists that he returned the glasses and gives me the address of some city I’ve never been to. He insists this is the return address. Pretty sure he confused me with some other seller. So which one of you received the unexpected gift of a pair of vintage sterling lorgnette glasses?Total store items: 445

Returns: Somebody keeps telling me he’s going to return something. He keeps asking me to send him prepaid shipping. I’ve told him a few times to start a return. He’s now talking about returning outside of Ebay. He’s got 4 more days to make this return and then it’s done. I hope.

I will be looking up the photography thread in this forum. Also, last week I agreed to buy my daughter’s Iphone for more than the Apple buyback could give her. It takes nicer pictures. Finally several people commented on having the whole item in the lead picture, something that I had never thought important. Since I like details, I had emphasized cool details in many listings. Also I was under the illusion that buyers would only see the very small picture that I see when I look up my listings. Actually they can see a bigger, more detailed listing. Since changing some of my listings from detail first pic to whole item first pic, I suddenly heard a caching. It was an item that I had changed that day. Thanks

Think I posted the wrong thing before.
Swallowing my pride and posting my store. I am going through and pulling a few crazy listings. I have no wish to spend time packing glassware that I’ve only made $2 on. On the other hand the UF NWT hat that nobody wants will stay and go lower, because it’s easy to ship and store. Thanks for any imput.
I have one item that will sell for 1-2000. It’s heavy and clumsy, but I thought I might need a jump start. I often run into a dry spot about mid January. But this time my last sale was Dec 26. Didn’t get any of the shop after Christmas crew.
One concern that I have no control over is Ebay’s numbers. I noticed that casual shoes were down 2.9% from Ebay’s of a year ago.

You get the idea. Had extended shipping for part of the week. Company. And we now have my sweet mom back with us, she has Parkinson’s and Dementia. I pretty much do everything for her. It’s a privilege and also a fair amount of work. That being said, I still should be able to do some profitable Ebay work.First I want to emphasize how much I’ve enjoyed the last few weeks on the forum and last week’s Tsatt interview. So much info to remember. And I won’t remember it all so… I have a new (scavenged) Ebay notebook with tabs. In one tab I’ll note the podcast or forum that mentions specific info that I’ll need to revisit.
Major takeaway, conquer one thing first. Ok, so Ebaywise that one thing is going to be more consistent listing. Already started this morning. Kill the death piles!OldDenmark Nice Stone Ax sale. Where did you find that? Not your normal thrift store find.
Thanks Everybody. So one Ebay goal is to know my Sell Through Rate. I know full well that my book keeping is my weak point. Nothing like the beginning of the year to change it around.

STR for the week .0047 Hope I did that rightJay, T-Satt and everyone else with a number comprehending brain, could you do a favor for those of us that are more word based? Could whoever mentions a term first, give the words? Just one time each week? Some of it is sinking in. I know that COGs is Cost of Goods. I diligently look up terms, but Google can be a quagmire instead of a help. According to Google STR is Smith Travel Research. Or Stand to Reason. Or Scuderia Toro Rosso.
I love learning a little every week. Will the real STR please step forward
