My son had his $1200 stimulus money by Monday! We heard that those with the least income in 2019 are the first to get the $
Like many of you, buyers disappeared for a while, but this week they came back. Lots of lower stuff, but I don’t mind being in business again.
Crazy times. My relations in Michigan are under anti-gardening laws. A Walmart, Meijers, or Lowes has to block off the seeds, plants, shovels, compost and everything else that you would need to grow your own food. I’m not joking, “According to the order, stores that occupy more than 50,000 square feet and offer essential items can remain open, but will be forced to close off access to certain parts of the store, where items like gardening supplies, plant nurseries, house paint, flooring, and furniture are sold.” Governor’s executive order as of April 9.
And you know where all those hungry Michigan gardeners are going to turn? EbayTotal Items In Store: 240

We had a great week. First Thanksgiving in years with all my immediate family. And once we hit Black Friday we kept hearing ca-ching. The Flax dress took a few months. Same with the boots, but we went back and forth. About half of my sales are from offers from my watchers. Something to keep in mind when pricing.
I only had my kindle fire with me up north. I like it, but I couldn’t figure out how to get Seller Hub on the Kindle. They had a very basic Seller-sold, active, unsold page. But no hub. All my sales came after I logged onto someone’s laptop and offered slight discounts to my watchers. Any thoughts on how to navigate to Ebay Hub on my Amazon product?I have very good and bad news to report. So so week last week. But somebody threw the switch on my store. Hoping it was me. But I’ll be happy if Ebay just fixed the glitches. However, they still appear to be there
I’m assuming that Ebay glitches messed up everything listed before October. Slowly I’ve been crashing down the old listings. Checking Everything! Tweaking and relisting. Lots of errors. Then selling similar Newly listed items with no previous interest get 10 views in an hour or two.
All the old items were lacking global shipping. And there are plenty of unhelpful fill-ins. Slowly relisting. Reducing the prices on many, but not too much. 70% of my sales are from offers in which I offer 10 or 15% off. So I may only have half of the 4th quarter but at least I’m getting that.11/04/2019 at 5:50 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 435: List and Forget, Still Works For Us #69997Total Items in Store: 482 (most ever listed)

Items sold on Posh 1 $15 for a plaid Ralph Lauren shirt2nd week in a row in which I have sold only ONE clothing item. So I went to the dark side and started working on Posh. And Bingo an offer, counter, and sale. Conflicted at this point. Posh with my minuscule 17 item closet? Or Ebay? I’m getting so close to my goal of $500. At this time of year though, I should be hearing ca-ching several times a day. Three weeks ago I was. $600+ in clothing in a week. Then came the bright bulb of messing with sizes.
Haven’t listened yet. I’m a list it and leave it for a while. A couple of months ago I started looking at my listings, starting with the oldest. Finding some that needed cleaning up. The ones that are an ugly thing that no one has shown interest in for 4 years are taken down and put on auction. These are my mistakes and if I only get $8 or less, oh well. Before the Fall adjustment I was clearing out some of these. This seemed to stop 2-3 weeks ago too. Not sure why.
10/29/2019 at 2:39 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 434: Do You Have A Business Destiny? #69755I’ve been doing 2 day handling for years. For me it works way better than 1 day. And I never did the free return.
Oh I wish this week was like 2 weeks ago. Then I sold over $600. This week I sold 2 items.

Jay, I’m not sure how we redirect millennials to Ebay. My kids will go to Amazon or Posh first.
On the plus side they are scavengers. One just picked up 2 sleds and a push lawn mower from the side of the road. She’s heading out after work to get the free firewood.
Hi Everyone,
It’s been months since I logged in. I’m a small seller aiming at 500 items. This year we had the privilege of taking care of my Mom in her declining health. It was hard, but we were blessed throughout the experience. Nothing has made me love my husband more than seeing his daily assistance with his m-in-law. In late July she passed away.
After working on a lot of stuff from mom, I’m gearing up for 4th quarter and being patient with myself. Sales have been there, but so so. Then I had The Week. Nothing, Nothing, Nothing for 3 days, but the last 4 days! I’ve been cautiously using the one time offer promotion. Sold 4 things that week, all with 10-12% off. $75 for a Mountain Hardwear coat Next a Coogi Sweater for $135 Montgomery Ward Coat for $97. And then the item that I had sky high ala Ryanne. My most expensive item sold for $264. It’s both a reproduction and vintage. Blood Chit jacket style of WW2 But made in the 80s so vintage.
This week was ok $146. But Ebay is not counting half the items that have been sold and shipped. The Sales chart shows nothing that I’ve sold since Friday, either in the total or the graph. Not sure what’s with that.
07/08/2019 at 6:23 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 418: Brick & Mortar Store Is Not For Us #64689Average Summer Sales Slowly crawling towards my goal of 500. At that point I’m not trying to get a whole lot bigger. With 500 listings I know I’ll have a steady albeit small supply of sales. After 500 I want to work harder on organization of listings, diminishing death piles, and just reclaiming the home from the Ebay invasion. Perhaps I’ll list a lot more for 4th quarter. Perhaps I’ll get pickier and list not just the $100+ that everyone wants, but more $45, $50, $60 items.

I did a Ryanne too high listing, and after a year, I got it. It was part of a hoarder/estate sale. I bought a few things from the men’s closet at the sale All clothing items were old and $2.
Also sold Robert Zur shoes for $60. Hope they fit this time.
This is so much more fun listing this than the bare weeks 2 months ago when I would sell 1-2 items in a week. Think my work back then is helping now.04/16/2019 at 10:33 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 406: Disposable Income, WTF is that? #60356Total Items in Store: 468

Scavenger mentality. I bought a shirt for me at the regular GW. Pulled it out of the dryer and thought, “Yes, I get to wear a new shirt tomorrow.” And I’m excited. Then I realized that some would think this weird. But not you folksThis is not as bad as it looks. I took time off to be with my husband. We were gone a lot of the week and I didn’t put much work in earlier. So I’m ok with the results. On the plus end we got to see first hand how beautiful Greenville, SC and Savannah GA are at this time of year. Back at work tomorrow 2 items to ship out.

Number of items listed this week: 11This week felt solid, not awesome, not slow The last few weeks have been so much better than January and February.
GOALS 1) Continue looking up each item, one at a time and seeing that I can find it in less than 3-5 minutes. Removing it if I can’t find it-which brings my listed item number down. Later, when I find an item, often in an unexpected place, I simply relist it. This is making me more confident that I know exactly where things are.
2) Working on listing 6 days a week, even if it’s just a couple of items. To the lister last week who felt bad for only listing a few a day, you probably have me beat. 15-25 items every week will slowly increase. Unless you have an amazing sales week!Congrats Mark S! Go MSU, you’re still in it. Which is more than I can say for my final 4
Hi Scavengers,
I got a bit puzzled around minute 11, where you thought the 2008 unemployment was 25%, possibly higher. Didn’t remember that detail so I looked up national unemployment by month/year. 2008 was about 5-7% unemployment. The worst recent years appear to be 2010 and 2011. Unemployment ranged from 8.5-9.9%. I remember that, we felt it. My high school and junior college kids were trying to line up a part time job and it was tight. Chipotle opened a new restaurant. They applied and found out there were 3, yes three levels of interviews for a fast food position. They applied and made it only through the second level. Good early lesson on humility and the fact that smarts/grades won’t always mean a job.The worst in my memory was the gas crisis in 1979-80. High gas prices meant less cars sold. In Michigan this meant not only a slump in the auto manufacturing, but a slump in all the thousands of businesses that made things for the huge auto manufacturers. We had about 18% unemployment. There were NO job openings for more than a day or two. And that’s if they got published. As somebody in college I remember how terrifying that was. So I freaked a little when I heard 25% and 30%. Can you check your numbers? Here’s where I found info. http://www.ncsl.org/research/labor-and-employment/national-employment-monthly-update.aspx

Update on the millennial’s comment that, “No one buys on Ebay.” Apparently none of them realized that Ebay can match Amazon’s 2 day shipping. My son who was defending Ebay as an option had no idea that you can select a lot of option specifics on the sidebar. So how do we reach these 20 somethings who have written off Ebay?
