More info is always nice, but I’d love to hear anyone that using Terrpeak or Worthpoint. Is it worth the monthly fee? Has it helped you sell things better or for more than just using eBay’s “sold” listings.
Welcome Shan. Another scavenger from Atlanta! We happen to be in your city the next several days. Talk about traffic when we were driving in last night. Atlanta is huge.
What kind of stuff are you scavenging around here?
I look forward to reading the posts from the “pack first ship later” people.
I think it’s a natural idea when you start selling on eBay.
We actually tried it when we first started….for about two months!
I assume proponents of this method have very small stores. The issue is all about scaling.
Packing items immediately works if you have under 200 items, but then you need to have either a giant warehouse or be selling very small items. There’s also the issue with customers asking questions on an item they want to buy.
If the item is already taped up, you can’t go back and check on something. This new administration and Congress have vowed to get rid of the Affordable Car act on their first day. This is a punch in the gut because it’s been a huge leveling of the playing field for those us who are self-employed.
Yes, you can and have always been able to buy insurance privately.
BUT, insurance companies could deny you for any reason.
Pre-existing conditions were the scarlet letter. And most affordable plans have historically had huge deductibles which made it useless for normal medical care. You pay for it “just in case” you get cancer or the worst kind of emergency. These private plans also had limits on how much they would ultimately pay, so cancer patients would be go bankrupt anyway because their care cost more than the policies would allow.
The ACA changed all that. Everyone was accepted. There was no limit on care if you were sick. I have no idea if this new Congress will really have anything similar to replace it with. The hope is that even Trump voters have had six years of decent medical care and will expect that same service. Trump voters also have pre-existing conditions.
Welcome Suzanne. Though we also love not having a job, I think its smart to keep consulting or freelancing in your “career” field. We’re doing four day job right now and getting paid very well. Why waste all that training we have?
But it is selling on eBay that keeps us enjoying life. Let’s us pick and choose what we want to do.
Do you sell books only on eBay?
Unfortunately no. We can’t host photos for the group.
Just upload to the many free photo sites and link to the photo here. We’ve only been to that flea market once. Go early, bring comfortable shoes, and a big shopping bag. I didn’t see any real pattern to how the stalls are laid out. But plenty to see. Lots of dealers with overpriced stuff, but we found plenty of fun stuff for cheap.
Those are all good things to have set up. Though we don’t have a resellers license.
You do live in a beautiful part of Northern CA.
Are you working full-time as well as selling on eBay?Welcome guys. Where do you find the sports pennants? I assume you mean the vintage kind? I rarely come across them.
I sometimes will buy from an online auction. Usually it’s a place that’s about 90 miles from our home. Problem is that if I only win one item, I have to drive all that way just to get it. So it sometimes makes me pay more than I want because I want the trip to be worth it.
Having items shipped to us isn’t cost effective.
So what do you think is the best way to post a photo to this blog?
I’m writing up a “best practices” posts for members.Yes, the mobile design needs a lot of work. It’s on our list.
I’d like to be able to read and post to the forum from my phone as well.If you’re making more money by scavenging and selling items from the trash than you do at your radio job…then this isn’t a crazy business.
Are you finding a lot of older, vintage items in the trash like Martin? Or newer items?
Do you think you’ll ever go abc to woking a job? or does scavenging seem like a viable alternative?
