I hear you RT. My return mentioned above is for $134. But in my case, they claim damaged so maybe if that is true and I see that after I get it back, then maybe I can photo it myself and use those photos to make an insurance claim.
08/28/2018 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Question on the Hassle Free returns and Supporting Photos on a Return #48097Hey Sonia: This is sort of where we are coming from. We do participate in the Hassle Free returns program but as Jay suggested we turned off the auto send the return label and selected to approve each return. Given that then we got the Ebay notice of the buyer’s desire for a return. The notice said we had until Aug. 29th to approve. So we contacted the buyer twice now asking for photos and informing them when we get those we will approve the return.
well no reply or photos. That time frame ends tonight at midnight. Do you think I should at the last minute go ahead and accept the return or let the deadline pass and let Ebay set-in? Does that defeat the premise of the Hassle Free Returns Program?

Sharyn: You know that is a great idea. I see the MO button on all those answers I send back. We ceratinly have room for a discount for both our items going on Sale and taking Offers on top of it. So if they are asking a question, it surely wouldn’t hurt to go ahead and through a small percentage off in an offer.
Maybe end the answer, with and if you are interested we can do a good deal for you right now or something along those lines.
My old partner always kept saying, you have not because you ask not!

Get well you guys. I hate sore throats. I just suck on the Halls metholiptus drops. That menthol seems to numb it up a little. And yep, antibiotics from your Dr.
Jay, heard your crackly throat last week also. Everybody here says that handling all the used stuff we do that we all need to wash our hands often and keep hand sanitizer up here in the office.
Take care and get well soon.Hit two estate sales this week and got a lot of really good stuff. About 50 items for an avg. of approx. $3.40 ea. All got quick entered into WonderLister and one of our assistants, Christie, is working on the listings now.
Sales seem to be bouncing on back after the Summer Slow down. Thank Goodness.
Have a return request this week for a lg. metal urn. Buyer said it was “broken” when she opened the box but no external signs of damage to the boxes [double boxed]. How does metal “break”. Who knows, but Hassle Free returns issued a return label anyway. Will see what that is all about after we get it back and inspect. Then of course the refund comes.
Hate to get returns on items that take a long time, like over an hour to pack up using our “cocoon” method. They never return it packed the way we did in sending things to them. Slap it back in the box, push everything down and back it comes. Ugghhh!Mike at MDC Galleries and Fine Art
08/26/2018 at 11:03 am in reply to: Question on the Hassle Free returns and Supporting Photos on a Return #47997Thanks for taking the time to reply Jay. Know you are a busy man these days. Really do appreciate it.
I have added back into my reply to them our request for photos. Guess it can’t hurt and either they will or will not do it. I can call ebay if there is a delay and they procratinate. If I don’t ask for the photos, then I circumvent the chance it is a bluff. It is a $130 dollar purchase with about $20 shipping so maybe the more bases I cover the better the chance it might go away and if not, it gets returned and i will claim insurance from my end after the return.
Make it a great day..

08/26/2018 at 10:25 am in reply to: Question on the Hassle Free returns and Supporting Photos on a Return #47988Also if we request the photos, and they delay past the “days” they have to respond, isn’t Ebay just going to issue the shipping label anyway? We only had 3 days to reply and a day and a half has gone by already.
About the USPS requirement for photos, Susan reminded me that we had a damaged item a few years back and we didn’t have the buyer send us hpotos but we took the photos once back here and the USPS accepted them. So maybe that answers the question if the USPS has to have the photos come from a buyer at the receiving end. guess not???
If they are “bluffing” then wouldn’t they have to go and cancel the Return Request from Ebay since they have already made the claim and Ebay knows of their desire for a return?

08/26/2018 at 10:17 am in reply to: Question on the Hassle Free returns and Supporting Photos on a Return #47986In this case they sent us a message stating the damage and they also did request a return Label from Ebay’ s HFR program and it was Ebay forwarding the buyers request for a return due to recieved damage.
So I think they are really going to send it back. I know what you are saying about photos sometimes making buyers back off on false calims when they are trying something underhanded. But think in this case they will be returning it.
On top of that they claim in their request comment section that the parts broken off had dried glue all over the back of them and indicates to them that a repair was attempted and failed. Of course that is not the case but wonder if this is a prelude to an negative coming?

That’s funny AF: Or got this in a table lot along with 75 other pieces that nobody wanted for $5 and this little “beauty” was right there in the middle. And the price we have on it is $55.00. Yeah, as pro scavengers and business resellers guess our “haul find” stories are not to glamorous.

Almasty that is a very good point. And could very well be the case. Who knows, but yep, it will always be weekly questions to answer about the obvious.
Guess also some others are new to Ebay or even buying online. Have 6 of an item and a lady bought one of the six day before yesterday. Few hours after we shipped the one, got an email asking, “do you possibly have any more of these in stock?”.
Well guess she didn’t see that 6 were available and she only bought one and could have bought 5 more and gotten combined shipping, but if a newbie doesn’t know what the 5 available / 1 Sold means, hence the question.
Sorry for sounding harsh on them. This has been a week of buyer back and forth questions and issues that has taken a lot of admin. time away from our business. And in our case a HUGE percentage of those with questions never end up buying.
But guess I have to remember all the sales we make without questions or issues which FAR outweigh the small remaining problem children.
Ahh, cool crisp morning here in Atlanta, and Thank the Lord for Coffee!!
Hit two great estate sales from estate dealers we know and made some great buys. The people we know let us come in with our blue Ikea bags, wrap and fill our bags, I make my running list of items with their prices and they trust us, and just work from there. We usually get 75% off on our lists. We do much better at the nicer, larger estate sales than the auctions usually.
But onward and upwards. bunch to list.

We use a fairly lengthy set of Item Specifics incl. many custom fields. We still get questions all the time, how tall is this, what color is it, etc.
We have a standard SOP that invites them to see the IS area and quickly instructs them to click on the little blue arrow or the blue “see more info” link.
Funny how so many people, much younger than us, seem to not know how to use their mobile cell phones. Hhmmmm!
We then get a quick reply, “Oh thank you, we didn’t know that or didn’t see that”.
Guess all the customers who buy without a question must have figured it out or bought just from the photo and price.
Too bad Ebay can’t force a buyer to have to click to the Item Specifics area then clcik to “agree to have read them” in order to complete the purchase. THEN, refuse any neg. feedback from them IF it was covered in the Item Specifics. That will never happen.
Oh well, answering DA [dumb-a**], questions weekly is just part of the routine.
OK.. First missing photos, now missing listings. Great.
Well Jay if “its a bug” as you say, then my answer is taken from a line in a Movie [with a slight word substitution / deviation from the original].. and that is….. “One thing in the world I hate: Ebay Bugs. Filthy little devils.”
OK Troy.. would said it the original way and what movie, and not a John Wayne movie. 🙂 🙂
Seriously Ebay.. Well will take a look at WonderLister and make sure all of our listings say “Active” and the total number of listings sysnchs with WL’ers count.

Hey Troy. based on what you guys said, I did go ahead and replied to his email but more with a tone of curiosity and questioning how he thought something like this type of arrangement would work from his view point. I also included 4 or 5 questions. Did that this AM and no response as of yet. May not hear anything, who knows.

Thanks buddy appreciate that. May take you up on a little later down the road. currently hardly ever have more than 1 or 2 solds per day and that is fairly easy to remember as far as picking goes. But when we get to the slow period next spring will probably do it then.
So the WL team is telling you to shoo, shoo, stay out of our code. LOL funny.
I am well into the project of getting all our listing to move to Shopify. And the auto send to Twitter seems to be working fine. Once everything is in our Shopify Store then the next big prject is the Etsy interface, but still waiting on the WL team to get that ready. They said by early fall, so that should be just around the corner.
Mark: Interesting that you had to create a custom field for the location bins then “link-relate” to it to create a pick list. In my version of WL I have a field already available called Storage Bin Location. I had the WL team create that field for me way back early on. But never thought about the creation of a “pick list” from it.
I wonder if I ask the guys at WL to create a report for me that will link to that field just like you did, if I can get a report page as a “pick list”. Currently don’t need it, but as we grow, at some point we will have multiples [we hope] to pull daily and that is when it would be of a help.
BTW.. we also have a different way of doing the same thing and that is wwe use a very long custom SKU number which includes the item No., price we paid, date bought and the storage location surrounded by a bunch of “fake camoflauge” numbers to scrable and hide all of that and have that custom SKU number included as the last line in our Item Specifics. We created a custom field for it at the bottom of the IS section. So one way we already have a pick list [sort of] built in by just doing a print screen of our Sold list on Ebay and that SKU number shows up in the custom field and we can pick from that. Or we can use our phone and just scroll down the Solds and see the custom sku field there and pull while in the storage area from the phone. So, have a couple of ways of doing it, but for future planning I think it would be best to just have a quick one sheet pick list from WL.
