Long time lurker, haven’t posted much unfortunately. I wanted to give a big thanks for you keeping the podcast up so long! Not sure how you went so long and made each episode engaging and informative but you most certainly did it as I don’t think anybody else could have done it…but you did! Thank you SO MUCH for being at the pinnacle of resellers online. You’ve left us all in a better place.
For me it depends on the item. If I have a one of a kind item-I wait. If I have an item that plenty of other sellers offer on Ebay-I’ll take the fast nickel. In general though for me 3 fast nickels > 1 slow dime. As long as I’m getting a reasonable and decent return on my investment I’ll take it.

Poshmark, Mercari, etc. aren’t going to compete with Amazon, but they are competing with Ebay. There’s a reason why there was a demand for people to seek alternative platforms. I’ve defended Ebay for years btw but it’s really starting to become just too much nonsense lately.
I used to get my boxes from Walmart. This method really will only get you larger sized boxes (this is how I get my FBA boxes and I’ve never had them complain). I’d go in around 11-12 (midnight) when they were stocking and ask if I could take the boxes when they were done. They’ll always let you because it’s less work for them. As long as you clear it with a manager ahead of time you can walk out with a shopping cart full of boxes. You’ll learn which boxes are the best (I ship to FBA mainly using laundry detergent boxes, they’re really strong and as a bonus smell nice).
edit: Keep in mind that not every carrier will honor insurance if you ship out with a used box.
I completely agree. I used to offer free shipping on first class items when first class shipping was the same regardless of region you were shipping to (so I could easily build the exact cost of shipping into my asking price). Since I can no longer do that-I pass. I’m in Florida so if I were to ship to Seattle it’s going to be much more expensive than say Atlanta. Being in the corner of the country really makes my shipping prices all over the place.
For first class the difference admittedly isn’t much but every dollar adds up…however for priority it’s really rolling the dice for me. Maybe if I lived somewhere near the middle of America it would be different.
